Dedication 2015
It is an honor to dedicate the 2015 yearbook to Mr. Valentin Dumitrascu. Mr. “D”, our valued history teacher and soccer coach, grew up in Eastern Europe in Romania. He saw history in the making in the early struggles of his country, which shaped his professional goals. Erom taking students to the colonial town of Sturbridge Village to joining the UCONN Model United Nations, Mr. Dumitrascu brings politics and history to life. He demands the best of himself at Marvelwood and thus demands the best of us. He shows us by his high expectations that he believes we can achieve he has faith in us. Mr. Dumitrascu was my advisor as well as my friend over the last four years. Throughout my time at Marvelwood, Mr. Dumitrascu had a significant influence on me. I was always able to count on him being there to give me advice when needed. He has an office next to his apartment, and when necessary, I went there to work instead of being in my room during study hall; it was like an oasis for me. He helped me focus and get my work completed when I struggled with assignments. Mr Dumitrascu was available as advisor, teacher and friend, and he was patient and kind to me always. John Marks

Head of School's Message
I
»
With this issue, the Yearbook recovers its former name, “The Prism.” How fitting. On the one hand. Marvelwood continues to honor its rich history. On the other, what better metaphor to capture the essence of Marvelwood than an optical element which alters the direction of light particles that enter it? At Marvelwood, countless students discover new directions, which enhance their pursuit of academic passions. Within these pages, find the elements of joy, discipline, and fun, which combine to create a rich tapestry of life at school. - Mr. Goodearl 99

I'm humble because I know what it feels like to be at the bottom and have nobody...no friends, no nothing. Nobody believing in me. Now look at me..You people don't believe in a unique II individual. You're ignored, left aside"and I was one of them. Look, I made it. I fight for what I believe in because I never gave up. This is real. I was always a fighter and a believer. Many people see that, and I do to ■W. ’
