Scott Pottbecker Headmaster

Thank you for the memories of my first year and for welcoming me and my family into the Marvelwood community. The Class of 2006 is one I will always remember because it is my first graduating class as Headmaster. Seniors, you leave behind a legacy of success in the classroom and on the athletic field that is impossible to measure, and will be hard to match.

Before you know it your college career will be over and you will be faced with another set of new challenges. Time goes by very quickly. It is so important for you to spend these next four or five years getting involved with extracurricular activities, community service and any other challenges and opportunities that you may find. This will be time well spent because it will help to shape your future and your character. I know it is hard to imagine now, but when you look through your yearbook in twenty years with your spouse or children, it will seem like just yesterday that you were at Marvelwood, going to classes, doing community service and playing sports. I hope you take fond memories of Marvelwood with you and look through this book and remember all of the good times and those immortal words, "Who's House? M's House!"

25 years. In 1972 the school opened its doors to

young women; in 1996, the campus was moved

from Cornwall village to Skiff Mountain in Kent.

No matter what physical changes have taken place over the years, one thing has remained consistent: Mr. Bodkin's mis 1

sion to create a school with a faculty dedicated to encouraging, support

ing and celebrating students on their academic success and personal growth. The current generation of Marvelwood students continue to I j

benefit from Mr. Bodkin's vision, and we dedicate this yearbook to him on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary. •Cf. ?<:

Our sixth place in the Hudson Valley league was an inaccurate representation of this team's hard work and penchant for having fun. Waiting for each other at the end of practice courses, helping :h other and sharpening one another's skis, enjoying :h other's goofy antics gave us a sense of unity. Our im captain was recognized for the third best time in ? league.

"Although we had very few players and a F fairly short season, the n softball team had a lot of fun. The team was focused and cheerful, and the level of play improved consistently throughout the term. Many of the players had never played softball before but they rose to the challenge, making an excellent cohesive group. Because we will lose only one senior, captain and MVP Amanda Sceusa, we have laid solid groundwork for next year's team."

The evening kicked off with Hors D'Oeuvres and jazz guitar on the patio. It was a nice evening with the sun going down and the brook next to the patio babbled along with the students as they waited for their dinner to be prepared. Everyone was dressed to the nines, tuxes and dresses of all shapes and colors dotted the banquet room. The evening grew into a dance party guided by the DJ who spun music from the fifties to present. Everyone danced to every song until it was time to leave and make our way back to the school gym.

The night continued at the school gym where there were more activities like Karaoke, Twister and dancing. There was popcorn, cotton candy and other treats to fuel the kids who danced to the music that played on til the wee hours of the morning. As the evening grew to a close the Sage staff prepared an early breakfast to the delight of the famished party goers who scarfed down every morsel they could. Thanks to the hard work by all the evening was a complete success.

David Johnson Edmond, OK It has been four years at Marvelwood and it was great. From being called Harlem to being called Oklahoma its was all good but what I talk with me when I leave marvelwood is all the people I have meet over the past four years. From teammates to people I am just chill with it was the most fun I ever had. There were some up and downs but people stuck with me through the rough and the good times. From when I had problems with a certain person in my life my boys and girl ( Rashon, Steve, Rob, Matt, Jordan, Gigi, and Carlos) stayed by me and help me out. They talked me through things. People say that at times when you feel down you should have friends to turn to and I did for many years. I cant fit everyone I would like to fit on this page but I am going to say this people will remember for the good and the bad but don’t woiTy its more good then bad. Alex, Nat, Nick your three are the funny ones that 1 need when I am down. Nate math class cracking jokes we never chilled on a weekend bitch, Nick super bowl at the Martins parties thats all I can say, Alex one day you now what I am talking about your cute and don’t let people tell your other wise. Richard. Julian, Roman, Sasha, Heromi, Clyde, Carlos, Carlos, Damien, Victor thank you for making my senior year full of many funny memories of this year. Hannah- you're a great friend and a great girl don't let people tell you other wise, we will stay in contact

during the summer. We had our thing it was great so stay strong and if you have any problems with any assholes call me ok. Matt- have only known you for three years but like we where brothers you have been a great friend and brother to me. Three years of basketball together was great I wish you came my freshman year the team would have great with you there. Keep baiting and try not to brake, get some muscle on that frail body and don’t elbow anyoneit was fun having you as a roommate for two years. Rashon a.k.a 50- there is so much I can say but I am going to keep it short for you. I have known you since the first day on campus when we did freshman orientation and we began talking I never thought we would be such good friends. We have been through so much from Alain to Alexis but we look back at it now and we lough like dam that was crazy. Stay strong and be good in collage next year and remember you the FIRE MAN. Steve- What is there to say besides don’t let your ego get the best of your so much and cut back on the arguing that gets really annoying and sometimes I want to nock your ass out. Plus keep balling in collage so one day we will meet again and play one another in collage. Rob a.k.a The True Glove- Good old Rob you mad me lough a lot. 1 mean a lot when Alexis made me angry you made me lough and 1 thank you for that. You are a good student if you really try and you better try in collage because if you don’t 1 will fly from Oklahoma just to beat your ass. Gigi- My girl I remember when we meet you asked me if my eyes where real or where they contacts and 1 was mad shy but I answered. From that moment on we were friends and we still are. You have made lough, smile, in every moment of the any day. I can talk to you about anything. You are a great soccer goalie and no one can tell you differently. Rashaad a.k.a all-madden- step your game up one day ii might beat me in madden but not in this life. I hope your senior years is great and you have fun. Your jokes are funny. O yea remember there are girls that like you at marvelwood. To new students I meet this year it was fun while it lasted but I will see you next I will visit. Nina you’re a great person don’t change for anyone. To all the Teachers who have stuck with through me not doing work and doing work thank you. You have made my time spent at Marvelwood a great one I will never forget the lacrosse, soccer, and basketball teams thank you for everything. To my parents thank you for giving me another shot at marvelwood I love my family it was a hard spent four years but I made it this far and 1 will continue to grow in school and as a person. If there is something I want to take with me is the friends and the great memories and that I will be remember as a someone who made a difference in someone’s life either at marvelwood or at some part of my life thank you Marvelwood community. There is love for you all in my heart and you all will not be forgotten never.

Brian Kerr senior Page There is no rest for the wicked and we my friends are the wicked.

So this is my senior page. I did it I graduated. Party at my house with my boys. So whai am i supposed to write about, I hated is place when I got here but at least I made the best of it. So here are the people that made my life better here. Julian: I guess we were close friends or something, you are prolly my best friend here. We totally had a motto but I forgot. Geoff aka sunshine: you wanna know how I know your gay... Rashad... too black for words. Richard... too Puerto Rican for words. Sasha: mmmm vodka. Dan Newman you are way too creepy but i could always rely on you to be a bit more crazy than me. Ross: cuff in a bunny suit. Ed: our hallway was the best. Durk: best roommate ever. Tessa: I bet you don’t really care that I’m mentioning you but I love you like family. Hannah: your such an A girl...Just kidding. But you made life at Marvelwood a bit more tolerable for me this year and i prolly wouldn’t have even gotten through the ropes course without you. Ps. you still owe me a pair of aviators. Gigi, Steve, Rashawn, Nick, Andrew Romanowski the leader of amnesty, and anybody else i didnt mention peace and god bless ya. Oh and by the way. Stop talking so much Alex Wein, your like a soul stealing sucubus. To the teachers Ms. Ellis and Ms. Lindberg. You two are the duo of awesomeness. I wish I could have been a better student and less of a downer. Ms. Ellis, listening to you complain as much as I do only makes me love you even more. Best skills teacher in Marvelwood history ever and I know this year I didn’t talk as but think of it this way. 413 days without a hugging malfunction. Ms. Lindberg. You helped me understand myself and the English language so much. You looked out for me like family. Big ups and stay fly.

My senior Quote sucked so here is the real one...

Sarah Sylvester Sherman, CT Kristina- You’re the one person that knows me better than I know myself. You are my best friend, my other half. We have been through so much the past 5 years, remember...almost getting killed by Taruh’s bf. getting kicked out of Tomb Raider.

Finding Nemo with Brett and Louie, locking Aly out of the car so we could gel hurt, riding In the ambulance, trying to

convince me to date your x-bf when I was so not interested. Kyle’s friend “free-styling" at McDonalds, Dan’s gf hating me,

“approving" Chris to date me. Jeff hitting on you at the movies. Mustang guy from Adam Broderick, avoiding Matt and Megan at the mall. Empress, when your mom thought Mark was mentally retarded, being afraid of K-Rich. cheerleading. Danbury Carnival, the “lend a hand” poster at John’s house. Applebee’s, not believing Evan was gay. Down The Hatch,

party with “the Mike incident" and losing your bottle. The t-shirt Brett wore to pick me up, unending supply of gum. the chin wiggle... I could go on forever, You’ve always been there no matter what since we first met. You are the Iruesl and most trustworthy friend I have ever had and I love you for that.

Jill- We haven’t been friends that long but I have never cared about a friend so fast, I don’t know what I would have done

without you this year: it definitely would have been unbearably... “Bevis and Butthead*...’Cheech and Chong*...‘Rock

and Cornstalk*...*Vegetabtes and Worm*...‘Making Popcorn*... I’m not even going to say I’m going to miss you because there is no way we aren’t keeping in touch...MUAH! fi<ya-1 can't imagine having any other roommate besides you.

You are more than a friend, you are a sister: I know that

because you are the only friend I have than has their own room in my house. Hehehe. I can’t even begin to thank you for everything you have done for me. You've been there for me through everything: you’ve been by my side through tears,

laughs, and heartache. Losing Dawn was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through and without you to be there for me I know I wouldn't have ever gotten over it You told me that it was fate that we ended up roommates and honestly

you are so right. My mom was talking about you one day and told me “Sarah you are so lucky to have a friend like Aya. she loves you a lot and she will be your friend forever no matter what Ji

happens and no matter how far away you two are from each other” I know that that is true because you not a friend to me. your family.

You have united our large family and gave me a permanent feeling of delight. Mr. Everett &. Mrs. Everett: My advisor and my mom away from home. Mrs. E made my problems feel like nothing and her infectious smile could lift me out of any bad mood. Mr. Woodward: Woody, your jokes in film class and your interesting facts that not everybody knows about in US History made you one of my favorite teachers. Hitler will remember what you did to him. Mrs. O’Brien: Made me laugh and introduced me to public TV. She made community service fun. .Mr. Sanchez: “Could God microwave a burrito so hot. that he himself could not eat it?” - Homer Simpson, Quoted by Brian Kerr. Mr. Bingham: Made sure I had everything ready for college applications and kept me from bouncing off the walls waiting for an answer. Thanks. Thanks dude, you helped me out a lot. Dan Newman: You scare me. But. you also are a fun guy to hang out with and made AP Stats interesting. Stop writing on maps and getting me into trouble. I hope you do well in college and I hope when you make a billion dollars you don't forget our classes together. Geoff Luecker Moraga, CA It looks like we finally did it. We made it through our senior year of high school. We can only go up from here. Here's to you guys. You've made the past two years so much fun. B-Kerr - I didn't know what to expect from you last year but I really lucked out when I got you as my roommate. I know Marvelwood wouldn’t have been the same without your “sunny" outlook on life. Have a great time next year at college (Penn State). B2 English, motha sucka! The ha-team/ rag time was some good limes. Just remember that, no matter where you go. the school’s ALWAYS gonna have a good budget. Jay-Geezay! - You and Brian kept me sane with the ha-team/ rag time, so thanks for that. <co> You just got batwinged, and you know that means three kicks. 1 had fun watching you “poke the dangly" while spooning a toilet. You made Marvelwood a fun place, as long as you watch what you say -1 hate you. Julian. “Thank you very much horse lady. You've been very informative". Hcbc - This past year definitely w'ould have sucked without your shenanigans. We had lots of fun last year on the ski trip, probably about as much as we had this year when we went skating the weekend before fall exams. Hope you have a great time next year in Scotland or wherever it is that school takes you. And remember to be proud, cause you made it and your mission was a complete success!’! Ink Where to begin? Thank you for helping me out when I needed you to. I know I can always trust you. This year's and last year's long weekends were amazing thanks for that. It wouldn't have ever happened without you. “Pinky, go get the penis". I just want you to know, you arc, by far. my favorite C.H. E-ca I really don’t know how to thank you for everything you've done for me. 1 know that we will keep talking forever because there will always be something you need help with and I H always be ten digits and a prayer away. Always. I love you. Mia You're my favorite Black Russian and don’t you forget it. Lniboob <& BiickctMan Our names are Uniboob and BucketMan. We arc just like an old married couple. Look at us try to flick our hair like Geoff. Double and Charlie, skiing with you, both at school and at obscure locations around the world, has been great. Hope to see both of you at some point in life. Ellis - You are probably one of my, if not the, best friends in the world at this point in my life. You are so easy to talk, it’s almost scary. You know what a promise means to me, and / promise to keep in touch. By the way. 1 was planning on skydiving some time in my life, but the video of your jump made me want to go even more. Thank you for being the older and (mostly) wiser version of me. It meant so much to me when you showed me the book from when I was gone last year. I wrote to you and you wrote back. It made me feel like I had somewhere I belonged. Russell We've had our ups and our down, but it always seems like, to you. what happened in the past was just history, nothing more, and I thank you for that. Lindy - B2 English last year was so much fun. 1 actually learned in class, but not just the material. I learned about myself while writing my autobiography and, without you, I don’t think 1 would be the same. Just keep telling yourself that, no matter what your students say, you're a great teacher, so try not to get so down on yourself To all my teachers - Thank You for taking the time to help me when 1 was in need. To everyone else If 1 forgot to mention you. I'm sorry. It's just that this page is going to be turned in something to the effect of four months late. 1 love you all and wish everyone the best for the years to come. I’E?\CE ‘(16 wj

To our Dear JonWe are so proud of you on your graduation from high school! We know you had a tough, cold three years on Skiff Mountain, but we know you will look back on Marvelwood as a meaningful life experience. We hope you move on from here and find your own success in life! Love- Mom, Dad & Robvn

Success To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people an the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give of one’s self; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or A redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. -Adapted from a poem by Bessie A Stanley

Dear Daniel, To sleep perchance to dream...

You've worked hard to reach this point. I've watched you grow and learn, and I've been so proud of you. You should be proud of your self as well.

It looks like Marvelwood allowed you to ac complish both- perhaps more of one than the other- but nonetheless we find ourselves con gratulating you on achieving another wonder ful milestone. We hope that you can take all you have learned from your experiences here and apply them as you go forward.

And remember...

You've done a "Great Job"

Love you Elisie ( Grandma)

Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions. We are so proud of you.

When we tell you "I love you" and It is wonderful to see how you have "I'm proud of you" it means so much blossomed into a beautiful, passionate, more than a few little words.
