A Message From The Headmaster

. Scott January 28, 2000

To The Senior Class, 2000 What a year to graduate! You are forever the class of 2000, a distinctive year, if only by virtue of its digits. It is, of course, a year distinguished in other ways: a presidential election which wi 11 put a new leader in office, a leap year, the year of the cell phone and tremendous internet expansion. At Marv'elwood it has been a year of increased enrollment and accomplishments in athletics, college acceptances, faculty births and overall school environment. The class of 2000 inaugurated the new computer lab which has brought us at least part way into the technological age. Simultaneously, you have alerted us to how much further we need to go in terms of additional facilities and internet access. Under the aegis of the senior class leaders, the school raised a great deal of money for breast cancer research. You also mourned the death of a long term faculty member, Bobbi Clark, who succumbed to that disease. She was an exceptional teacher and student advocate. Those of you who knew her, miss her.

I speak for the entire Marx^elwood faculty when I say that we wish you the best of everything. We wish you a good education which will lead to a satisfying career, whatever that career might be. From music and acting to forestry, the food industry business and marine biology - you have many, diverse interests and talents. It is our hope that you will remain healthy and happy enough to realize most of your dreams. It is our hope that you will be successful and realize that this is where it all started, at Marvelwood School. Remember us happily, knowing you took much and that you gave much - all fifty of you, the first class of the new millennium. Best wishes

Anne Davidson Scott Head of School

First off I would like to thank my higher power & Gomi & Granddad for helping me get through 27 months of craziness & all the stuff before that. I also want to thank mv family for not giving up on me after every thing I put you guys through. You guys never gave up & I cant say how much I appreciate it. I also want to thank all my extended family for their support. Alisha thank you so much for all the letters you sent me while I was away, and all the other stuff you did and put up with. Darin thanks for your letters too and also for being there when I got home. You guys are the best. I want to thank all the family serx’ice workers and staff who helped me ^sdth looking and applying at boarding schools. Big thanks to the admissions at marvelwood for accepting me. If I didnt get into m-wood 1 would have probably gone to a half way house, & 1 dont think 1 would have done as well. I also wana thank the Everets, Ks, Denehey, Ms. Bohning, Mr. Gunderson, Ms Obrian, Chez, & the Woodwards. Hey Marley wheres Heather Boyle? Its cool ,its fun, but its Doss! I would like to thank my family, friends and teachers, dont have to mention names you know who you are. A vord of knowledge: dont go and chase life, let it come o you. Then you will see what your prime qualities are. Ml the years I have been here, I observed, realized and earned a lot of things mentally and so onO (Mason Man, you know what I mean about the third eye). To get I little scientific (and funny), my digital and mnemonic ¡kills are increasing minutely and you people eat too much Monosodiumglutamate with sodium benzoate. Ive had I lot of memories here and 1 will never forget them. Everybody take good care of themselves. I love you all. Thank you for Everything.

Mom, Dad, and Gail- I owe you guy's everything that 1 have in my life. You have supported me and stuck by me through everything that I've been through, and for that I love you unconditionally. Cari-1 know that you get fed up with me a lot, and half the rimp we see each other we brawl, but that's only because we care about each other and we want the best for each other. You are a true friend and I love you. Paul- we use to hate each other until we realized we were the same. You're my best friend and I'll always know that you're there for me if I need you. NickSpuddy, who am I gonna bum a lip from now? Thanks for keeping me motivated this year by calling me a fS#k up all the time. We had a good| time keep in touch. Dee- Well how did you like college, haha. Good times this year, don't get eaten by a shark you beach bum. Omar-You are I the only person on this campus who has a harder time waking up in the morning then me. It was fun waking you up, good luck. Marley- Youl one of da craziest mo-fos I've ever met. It's all good though, don't change. Natalia-SHALOM. Nick M.- I still think you punked out on wrestling, but it's koo, I just hope you can live with yourself. Take it easy bro. Stinky- Even though I'm leading now and hopefully moving on t< college it doesn't mean that we're not gonna get an apartment together in the city. Don't worry, where not gonna lose track of each other, I love my stinky. Lindsay -1 know you take a lot of crap from me, but you know and I know how great of a person I think you are. You can always make me smile and I'm gonna miss you. Keep iii touch. Shana- You are the closest person that I have to me here at the Marv. You keep me in line, you take care of me, you get in trouble for me, you fight for me, but most of all you love me. I wouldn't have ever made it as long as I have here if it weren't for you. We've been through so much together already that I hope we never lose track of each other. I love you, and I'm here for you. Speech: I don't want to start bad mouthing all of the people who have v.Tonged me in the past few years, there's no need for it. My satisfactioij comes from being where I am today. For the people who have tried to keep me back from succeeding, guess what, you lost not only did I succe^ but I'm not done. I don't know what my future holds, but I do know that I'm up for the challenge, what ever it may be. Now for everyone who' has put any amount of effort into me because they cared, thank you so much I couldn't have done it with out all of your support. I think that's il I'm done.

The first people out there whom I would like to thank are my parents for giving me life. Mom and Dad, you have guided me through I • « -. a a • >. a,".a «a a_ hard times, you have sacrificed yourselves on many occasions to better my future as a man, and for that I love you. Second, 1 would like I to thank my grandparents Harvey and Norma Beit for always helping me achieve and strive for the best, the two of you mean more to me than words can explain. So where do 1 begin? Here I am, and here is the rest of my senior about to embark on the second chapter of their life. Not to mention the fact that the year 2000 is the best year ever to graduate, but the class I am graduating with makes it ail the better. This school gave me the opportunity to better my future as a man in this crazy, materialistic world in which we live. I have learned many values from this school in the two years I attended. Up on this old mountain, there have been and were many people who truly meant a lot to me: Moses: You are the first one on the list. You were like a brother to me, 1 will never forget you as long as I live, thanks. Nicko: (The Greek God) You are one of the coolest kids I've ever known, its an honor to be graduating with you, dont ever lose touch. Spiegel: We've had a lot of good laughs, you are a true friend, the best of luck to you. Evan Graham: You were a great friend to me last year, best of luck to you. Harrison: One of the most humble kids 1 know, take the ego down a few notches. Casey: Ditto your brother. Tooks: One of the funniest kids I know, say hi to Joey Bag-O-Donuts for me. Keep in touch, you my boy. Justin S. Why you frontin on my mans shoes?, peace dog. Tom Miller: You were a good friend here at Marvelwood, even if you are a minyake. Melissa: You are going to be a wonderful person in the future, the best of luck to you, thanks for all of your advice Harlem World: When yall are in the pros, spread the wealth, you guys are going far. 1 dont have room on this page to mention everyone, but I'm thinking of you! For the most part, the only reason for my success at this school was due to the extraordinary teachers who helped to expand my world in many ways. Mr. Jason: you are first on the list because you were the father to me away from home. I remember the first time I met you at Wolfeboro, I'm glad I was lucky enough to J be under your guidance here. Mr. Koilath: Thank you many times over for all of your help last year, 1 will never forget what you did for me. Mr. Klomp: Two seasons were definitely not enough to be on your team. Thank you for always pushing me to strive for more. In closing, 1 am honored to be graduating with such a fine group of young adults. This world has turned into a crazy place, but I am confident that the class of 2000 will be remembered forever. Good luck to everyone! Peace. I'm on to the second chapter.

This experience is quickly coming to an end and J won der what I will take from it. Friends, stories, diversity, adaptation, growth, questions, etc. I only hope that these things will create some of the pieces of me that in turn will make up who I will be at heart as an adult. Who knows what will happen in years to come, who I'll be, what role I'll take in my new world. At least if it's similar to the role I played at this Marvelwood theater, I will be reassured another slice of who I am. All through times, dreams, laughs, cries, 1 stand with myself, consid ering the possibilities that the fractions in the puzzle create me. If this means nothing, let that nothing be the source for all my existence. Nothing is still something if you think of how something as big as this world could actually be a spec of dust. My point is, who cares why when there is a picture to create, a puzzle to put together with every blink of everyone you meet. Mom, Dad, Fletch, Josh, Dave, Myra, Emiliana, Nicholas, Vanessa, Emma, Curran, Megan, Joe, and anyone who put a smile on my face or a thought in my head, this is going to be short and sweet. I'm done, finally. I would thank you . all, but honestly, I got myself here and I got myself out. I will say however that your love and support was com forting. There were lots of good times with lots of good people that I can't even begin to name them all. The memories will continue to stay with me for as long as I live, probably even longer, making me pause, think, and smile. 1 LOVE YOU ALL,

Dark clouds have hung over my head for a time but they always seem to work out. Now alas it does seem that the black cat is in fact changing colors. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a couple of the people who have stood by me during these hectic times. First and fore most, I w'ould like to thank by Family. Mom and Dad no matter how much of a thorn in your side 1 was you always seemed to put up with me. Thank you for always being there and being willing to help. In making it possible for me to attend the Marv., you have given me the opportunity of a life time. I have gained a lot of wisdom from you and have learned what it means to be a truly good person. Johanna, you are the essence of kindness. It seems to me that you have what I've been looking for myself and that is a heart of gold. Don't let them work your fingers to the bone doing nothing more than just draining your soul. Everybody asks me how you're doing has she yet lost her mind, and I just say, well I couldn't tell you I've lost mine. Keep your sanity and remember the importance of simplicity. Jordan last but not least. I have always placed the responsibility of being my sort of mentor and 1 hope this has not cramped your style too much. You have taught me well and for that I want to thank you. I would also like to thank you for standing by me, and always looking out for me. Raise your fist and resist, and never forget the D.E.F.I.A.N.C.E. Always keep it real, remember its not where you're at but where you're from, so don't forget your roots. To all my friends at the mar\’, you have all taught me a lot and always watched out for me and I appreciate it. I hope I do not forget anyone, but in case I do I want you to know that I appreciate you. Hunter Dorn: Study hall, late at night and most hours in between. You taught me a lot about how to get by here not to mention how to pass chem. and aquatic. If you're causing no harm than you're all right with me. If it's from the earth, then its of the greatest worth. God bless Colorado and the Denver Nuggets the best ball team. Nick Miley; Never forget the late night sessions. Hope fully all the wisdom you have given me will some how seep in. From my heart to the trigger you're my f n.. Why? That's just how 1 am livin son. Katie Shotland: You always gave me the blatant truth about things. Even though I didn't always like to hear it, it was always good for me. Most important thing you taught me, I don't care what you think, I don't care what you say, etc. or something like that. John Kordak: You are probably the most unique person I will ever get the privilege to meet. Every day I am inspired by your true open mindedness. You will be successful, you will discover all the secrets, but you, don't ever let them get you down!!! Todd Cohen: Yodah, you have always been the wise teacher for every one. Ill never forget the carpet story just as long as you stay in that spiritual place. Mike E.: You are undisputedly the man. Carry on the tradition. You have been prepared as much as you have prepared others. There are plans for your life, just keep your eyes open and try to learn from everything. Yvette Miller: Sorry I've spelled your name wrong, please don't take any offence. Thanks for all the advice, smelling it from a mile away, and just being you. To all my people at home, I haven't forgotten where I am from no doubt I represent! Zammittis: You will always be my boys. Yo we've definitely come through a lot together, yet some how no matter how much things have changed its always been real. From b-boys chased out of class only to find the ruler in español, ball in the drive way, lacrosse, our Uncle C, Marley and the zigs, pbd. Middletown, April 20th, and all that other good stuff PEACE! Jeff Ganci: Paint it up. PBD at your house to baking the brotherly love in your car in your car. Non stop with nothing but the best. Watkins: I don't even know were to start. You have always been my boy and always will be. Just one thing, no matter what it takes my N. we are going to make it N. Keep hope and don't give up the struggle. Anything any lime. Oh yeah no doubt the meadows parking lot. Myra Gourley: You have always stood by me and kept me sane. You are my sunshine and daydream. Even w’hen the skies were gray you would pat me on the back and say baby it will be okay. That's real to brother like me baby. I am going to walk these dogs so we can live in the lap of luxury'. It has and will be real. Every thing will work out, I can feel it. I know no matter how’ fast we are running some how we will keep up with each other. Finally, I would like to thank all the teachers at the Marv. for helping me and always keeping me on the journey. You mean so much to me and I am forever in debt to you. Mr. E, Russle, Kollaths, Dennehe, Vincent, Mr. Clomp, Mr. Flick, Mr. Corwin, Mr. Agusta, Mrs. Doss, Ms. Lynch, and of course Ms. Wyner (yeh right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Thanks for everything!!! Hey, Chuck I think I got dysentery.

Suzy- my best friend and partner in crime. I wish you were here so we could have caused a ruckus together, but I'm glad we were apart because we both learned valuable lessons. You were my motivation. Thanks. Now 1 hope you find yours. Max- HELLO GORGEOUS! Thank you for the cookies. 1 would hate for you to think that your older sister is a loser, but none of the 200 people 1 gave my address to ever sent me anything. Ya like BUTTAH! Jo- Don't ever let any one get you down. Chances arc, you will never meet another person who is as strong as you are. Send me a copy of your book some day. If I say one serious heart felt thing on my senior page, its that Dr. Ewing is a f-ing idiot. Mils- You were my spoonful of sugar that helped the medicine go down. Yeah, I needed the Marv, and discipline and responsibility and all that sluff, but you kept me laughing, so I needed you too. Thank you for letting me roll down the hill in a laundry cart 1 enjoyed losing all trust in you completely. Thank you for letting me borrow basket weaving materials and teaching me to polka while disturbing everyone in the dorm at the same time. 1 feel that you have prepared me for college. Keep in touch you big baloney. KT- You're more like the sun than a star. This is not because the solar system must revolve around you and not because one will go blind if he looks directly at you. You're not the brightest in the sky, buy you're the brightest in the Marvelwood solar system. Your rays are strong and have burnt me badly and more easily because my skin is fair. But you kept me warm on this cold windy mountain. I was never in your shadow I was always in your light. {And you woke me up every morning.) Good night KT. Good night Jim. Justin/Baby- relationships get ill, but you were a good investment. We are Marvelwood's oldest couple. Probably because you are too scared to break up with me because you know that I can pin you in thirty seconds and beat you up. So I don't blame you. Thank you for all the presents you gave me even if they were sometimes just trash you found on the ground. It was the thought that counted. You make me look good. You make me feel good. You're a keeper. I love you. Mom and Dad-Thank you for the opportunity. I'm sorry it had to cost you so much money. I hope my kids aren't like yours. Dad, thanks for your determination. Mom, thanks for your kindness. Thanks to you both for the good kick in the ass. Ms. Lynch- I'm on a first name basis with every member of your family including your parents and I'm still calling you Ms. Lynch. I should be calling you Mom by now. You did have to put up with one more screaming five year old. Good job for being tough with me. I was warming you up for Madden. Call me if you're ever in D.C. Bring JR. Well have a double date. Doss- you were a wonderful hostess, I enjoyed my stay in your dorm. Sarah, Natalia and I’-nut- Take it easy on each other and save your anger for the new kids. I give this school to you. Keep the Backstreet Boy tradition alive. Never forget your roots my sistas. Pkeller- Try not to get arrested for disturbing the peace the next time you're driving a school van. I never thought anyone could be as funny as me, and you're not, don't forget that, but you are very creative. Mrs. Marshall and Chez-1 know I drove you both crazy. Maybe some day Ill keep track of my things, and gel places on time. I may even have a phone book or a planner or something like that. But you've kept me working hard. Thanks. Don't feel obligated to name your first born after me. Mr. Kollath-1 still haven't forgotten how you gave me the benefit of the doubt for that smoking bust in January. Thanks for trusting me. Nick, Todd & Hunter- Thank you for beating me up and making fun of me. I am immensely grateful for the noogies, the wedgees and the occasional snowball in the face. Good luck you guys. I hope you all are deeply eleven A-

I want to say that this is the end of my High school career. I have matured over the years and watched myself grow into adulthood. But 1 have my last word of wisdom as a senior to say to all the Underclassman: Nah nah nah nah nah! I'm leaving and your not! Losers! Ha ha!

Things to say:

Jose: DanjeL "'You have two seconds..1.2.Too Late!!" Ariel: The crazy Brazilian. 1 am one of the few people who understand your English. Caroline: I'm not stupid. I just don't feel like using my intelligence. Lorean: You are high on life. McClanahan: Say Hi to Craig for me. And no more video games! Harold: Make it Unreal! Charlie Fritz: Don't concentrate too hard. You might get yourself hurt. Canada: You know who I'm talking about. No More!! Shamoli: Don't ask me about your hair for the last time ! Gatlieb: Don't have too much fun. Oh and congratulations too. Finally huh? Jessica: Still think I'm weird? To the people who started calling me crazy Pete: Why ? I still don't get it? To all who will stay at Marvelwood: He he he... Have fun. To my advisor: Thanks for getting me out of a lot trouble (like getting me out of 24 hours of SMASH), by the way about being a senior, you were right! To the rest of the faculty: Be easy on the new kids next year NOT!'!!!!
