It's time for reality. 4 years is a long time to go through in one place, but I must admit it did go fast. I would like to thank Miss Loew, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Walden. Perry, Mr. Neary. I want to especially thank JT. I would think if you could make it. I could. Thanks for being a good influence and just for being a good friend. Take it easy. Mr. Corwin, I don't think I could have made it without your support. For the last two years, whenever I needed help I got it. I am forever grateful for your help. Keep in touch to: JP. KG, JW. JA. k'. Nine years ago I came to the country of freedom. I didn’t know one thing. Maybe a little bit of alphabet. I suffered through difficult times. If there was one thing I could do best that was the “spelling test’’. I used to ace them. But look at me now. I can read, talk, think, act. and play like an American, sometimes I wish I was born American. Things could be much easier. But I'm Japanese and I’m proud of it. No one can change that. No One! Do you know the kind of people who rule the school? The nerds, jocks. Orientals, air heads. geeks, Dead heads, Kansha skis, losers, and cool people. Basically, we rule the school and not the faculty. People are all different and that makes every individual interesting. But Marvelwood will never find another Chairman. Why? -because- and just because.

JT. Mr Winkler. Mr. Corwin. Mr Babcock. Ms. DeChabert. Mr. and Mrs. Walden thank you for helping me in a lot of ways. 22 Sayonara Marvelwood.

Hardy, Lacko, where the hell are the smokes? Hey Lacko. did you do the chemistry? Hockey Van rides with Nate. Manual Labor on Wednesdays? The eating of quaters at Ned’s house. JP. how many tubes can you consume in five minutes? The time we got five movies and only saw part of one. Hey. Hardy remember the time Pagano lost his mind after South Kent? I’ll be seeing you in the Bahamas. Hardy! I would firstly like to thank Huge. M. Davis, N. Corwin, P. Babcock, G. Winkler, T. Cowgill,

K. Keskinen. D. Walden. P. Keskinen and T deChabert for all their support during my time spent at Marvelwood. Lastly I would like to thank my parents for the backbreaking task of driving me to school and picking me up for all four years. I love you for all your support and help in making me a better and more confident person. All I can say is that Marvelwood has been an experience and I never could have made it without my friends. I have also learned that experience is the fruit of the tree of errors. Farewell Marvelwood, I am off to a new and exhilarating life where horizons are brighter and last forever. 29

Gee. I’m a senior now, huh? Well I guess I will thank everyone with whom I have interacted for their aid in the making of the current John Putnam Washburn. I’ve had a blast wish it could go on for another couple of years. Hay ward “Just forget about her!“; I’ll never for get you. Hay. you’re the best there is. Eric “Will you please act normalH!”: I'll see you on Block Island. Muscles. Greg “You just took a bite of Tom Brownell’s soap"; was fizzicks a treat or what? 11 I’ll give you a call sometime. Special thanks go to: Jeff Oldham. Kevin Gettier. and Neil Kightlinger for the lending of their shoulders to cry on. I would also like to extend my thanks to the student body for putting enough of their trust in me to make me eligible for the position of student body president: and to Steve Forneris especially for his aid in the office of campaign manager. We’re young, we’re cool, and we care! -The Fleshtones Words exist because of meaning: once you have gotten the meaning you can forget the words. -Chuang Tzu If I do not have the plague, why was I running away from me? -Groo the Wanderer

On Friday. February 28. the Marvelwood Drama Club presented a collection of scenes from a di verse group of plays. The cast included Fred Meserve, Rachel Lokken and Lou Babycos in The Catbird Seat (adapted for the stage by our own Ken Keskinen): Tavia LaFollette, Lucas Heller and Stacy Clinton in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest: and Marguerite Carter, Noah Maltsberger and Hardy Gates in Mary Chase’s Harvey. Special thanks goes to Mike Wilson, James Roberson, Russ Smith and Mark Haynes for some “fly-by-night” technical work. T.C.
