We are pleased to inform that we have worked jointly with the British Group Ecuador composed by The British Embassy Quito, The British Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce of Quito and Guayaquil and The British School Quito in order to strengthen good business, social, cultural and educational relations between United Kingdom and Ecuador.
Un proyecto que nos llenó de orgullo fue el primer British Week, organizado por el British Group y cuya iniciativa fue de la Embajada Británica, en donde se desarrolló una serie de eventos tantos privados como abiertos al público con el objetivo de fomentar la cultura Británica en el Ecuador.
A project that filled us with pride was the first British Week organized by the British Group Ecuador and whose initiative was from the British Embassy. It consisted of a series of private and public events that were held with the aim of promoting British culture in Ecuador.
Entre los principales eventos tuvimos: Recepción St. Andrews - Patrón de Escocia, Keep Calm and Have Fun: Family Day, Bonfire Night, GREAT Films, GREAT Books, Una mágica Fiesta de Té entre otros.
Among the main events were: St. Andrews Day – the patron saint of Scotland, Keep Calm and Have Fun: Family Day, Bonfire Night, GREAT Films, GREAT Books, a magical Tea Party among others.
Del mismo modo, se llevó a cabo la misión Going Global 2017 que tuvo lugar en Londrés y en la cual participamos con el apoyo de IBD-MC y una delegación de empresarios ecuatorianos.
In the same way, the mission Going Global 2017 was held and took place in London. We participated along with the support of IBD-MC and a delegation of Ecuadorian businessmen. We want to thank you for all the support and trust you have given us and to invite you to read our LINKS magazine and be part of our events in 2018.

With the support of Scala Shopping, Tesalia and Amatea, the winners of the social media contest enjoyed a magical afternoon tea; they savoured delicious British pastries and they enjoyed the craziness of the tales’ characters.
GREAT Films - Victoria y Abdul La Embajada Británica, con el apoyo de Cinemark y Consorcio Fílmico, organizaron el pre estreno exclusivo de la película Victoria y Abdul. Compartimos una gran velada junto a ex alumnos del Reino Unido, amigos de la Embajada y ganadores del concurso en redes sociales. With the support of Cinemark and Consorcio Fílmico the British Embassy organised an exclusive preview of the film Victoria & Abdul. We spent a lovely evening with ex-UK students, friends of the Embassy and the winners of social media contests.

Photography exhibition - GREAT Britain: You are invited! Los más de 4000 visitantes de Scala Shopping pudieron conocer más del Reino Unido con una exposición de fotografías de lugares icónicos. La muestra estuvo presente desde el domingo 19 al sábado 25. More than 4000 visitors at the Scala Shopping learnt more about the United Kingdom with a photography exhibition of iconic places. The exhibition took place from the Sunday 19th to the Saturday 25th.

Niños de todas las edades disfrutaron de la lectura de maravillosas historias de autores británicos, en un espacio distendido y ameno, gracias al apoyo de Scala Shopping, Sika y Mr Books. In a relaxed and pleasant environment, children from every age were able to enjoy readings of wonderful stories from British authors, thanks to the support from Scala Shopping, Sika and Mr Books.
Keep Calm and Have Fun: Día de la Familia en Scala Shopping Gracias al apoyo de Scala Shopping, disfrutamos del mejor fútbol de la Premiere y deglutamos de comida británica, cerveza, shows de baile y un concierto de covers de rock británico que superó expectativas. Thanks to the support from Scala Shopping, we watched the best football from the Premiere, we ate British food, drank beers and enjoyed dance shows and a concert cover of a British rock band. Everything exceeded our expectations.

Con el apoyo de Multicines y Scala Shopping, disfrutamos junto al Presidente Lenín Moreno, la Primera Dama, Rocío de Moreno, y varios Ministros, el documental sobre las Islas Galápagos (Atlantic Productions y BBC), mismo que fue presentado por el CEO de Atlantic Productions, Anthony Geffen. Thanks to Multicines and Scala Shopping, we watched with the President Lenin Moreno, the first Lady, Rocio de Moreno and other Ministers the documentary on the Galapagos Islands (Atlantic Productions and BBC). The documentary was presented by the CEO of Atlantic Productions, Anthony Geffen.

Encendimos el árbol de Scala Shopping, acompañados del coro de The British School Quito. Nuestro “Embajador por un Día” dio la bienvenida a la comunidad británica presente y todos los asistentes compartimos vino hervido y galletas. We lit up the Scala Shopping Christmas tree accompanied by the choir of The British School Quito. Our “Ambassador for the Day” welcomed the British community present and all the attendees shared mulled wine and biscuits. 8

Cerramos la Semana Britรกnica celebrando la herencia escocesa con amigos, empresarios y autoridades en Ecuador. Llevamos a cabo una subasta silenciosa para recaudar fondos en beneficio de organizaciones dedicadas a la defensa de la equidad de derechos humanos. We ended the British Week celebrating the Scottish inheritance with friends, entrepreneurs and Ecuadorian authorities. We carried out a silent auction to raise funds to the benefice of organisations dedicated to the defence of human rights equity.

British Week en Guayaquil Celebración de Saint Andrews, Patrón de Escocia Se llevó a cabo la Celebración de St. Andrews Patrón de Escocia en el Parque Histórico, Estación Fluvial. Recepción benéfica en apoyo a organizaciones que promueven los derechos de la mujer e igualdad de género en Ecuador. The Celebration of St. Andrews Scotland´s Patron took place at the Historical Park, Fluvial Station. It was a Charity reception in support of organizations that promote the rights of women and gender equality in Ecuador.
Feria Británica “Keep Calm and Have Fun: Family Day” La feria británica se llevó a cabo en el Centro Comercial Plaza Lagos. El evento fue abierto al público y disfrutamos de: Stands de comida y bebidas británicas, exhibición de carros británicos clásicos, Stands con información de turismo, cursos de inglés; música británica y más. The British fair took place at Plaza Lagos Shopping Center. The event was open for the general public and we could enjoy: Stands of British food and drinks, Exhibition of classic British cars, Stands with tourism information, English courses, British music and more.
Proyección del Documental: GALÁPAGOS La Proyección del Documental GALAPAGOS se realizó en Guayaquil gracias al apoyo del Cinema Malecón. Tras la presentación del documental se realizó un cóctel, con la participación principal de la Embajadora de Su Majestad Británica en Ecuador, Katherine Ward LVO; y del Sr. Anthony Geffen, CEO Atlantic Productions. The Documentary Screening GALAPAGOS was realized in Guayaquil thanks to the support from Malecón Cinema. After the presentation of the documentary a cocktail was held, with the main participation of Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador to Ecuador, Katherine Ward LVO; and Mr. Anthony Geffen, CEO Atlantic Productions.

BONFIRE NIGHT 2017 La Fundación The British School, miembro del British Group organizó el 18 de noviembre el tradicional Bonfire para revivir dicha tradición, así como para difundir la cultura británica en el Ecuador. El evento se viene realizando con muchísima aceptación por más de 23 años y este año el mismo formó parte de la agenda de The British Week organizada por la Embajada con el soporte del British Group. El evento fue una exitosa celebración con mucha aceptación en la comunidad del valle de Cumbayá/Tumbaco y del público en general de la ciudad de Quito; el mismo superó las expectativas de asistencia, con alrededor de 1000 personas entre sus visitantes, así también contó con artistas invitados los cuales interpretaron música de artistas británicos, también restaurantes que sirvieron comida tradicional británica e internacional y el primer show de autos clásicos británicos.

The British School Foundation, a member of the British Group, organised the traditional Bonfire Night on November 18th 2017 to relive the tradition and also to expand British Culture in Ecuador. This event has been celebrated for the past 23 years and this year it was part of the British Week organised by the British Embassy with the support of the British Group. The Bonfire night was a hugely successful celebration within our community hosting over 1000 guests. Many artists provided the entertainment with traditional music as well as restaurants serving a wide range of British and Ecuadorian food. This event also saw the first British car show in Ecuador which was greatly admired by the visitors.

Corporación GPF capacita a sus colaboradores en el cuidado de sus finanzas personales
Corporation GPF trains its collaborators to look after their personal finance Entre agosto y octubre del 2017, Corporación GPF coordinó una primera fase de talleres de finanzas personales denominados “Cuida tus finanzas”, en Manta, Portoviejo, Cuenca, Loja y Quito. En total 1028 personas de las distintas áreas y unidades de negocio fueron capacitadas. ¿Cómo se garantiza que un presupuesto se cumpla? con un registro de gastos. Los guías presentan temas como generar buenos hábitos de ahorro, el sobreendeudamiento y cómo evitarlo, la contratación de seguros, cómo solicitar un crédito y más asuntos… Los talleres enfatizan que con un manejo adecuado de las finanzas, la posibilidad de proponerse y cumplir metas de ahorro, es posible, más allá de los ingresos mensuales con los que se cuente. Justamente esto lo destaca Eleana Figueroa, subgerente de Gestión Humana la Unidad de Negocio de Fybeca, ABF y OkiDoki. Convencida del impacto positivo de esta iniciativa, Corporación GPF empodera a su equipo para que la gestión de sus recursos personales sea una fuente de tranquilidad y estabilidad, por lo que en el 2018 continuará con los talleres en el resto del país.

Between August and October 2017, GPF organised a first stage of workshops of personal finance called “Take care of your finances� in the cities of Manta, Portoviejo, Cuenca, Loja and Quito. In total, 1028 people from the various regions and business units were trained. How can you guarantee that a budget will be achieved? with a record of the expenses. The guides presented subjects such as generating good saving habits, the overindebtedness and how to avoid it, insurance policies, how to solicit a credit and more matters that the staff deals with daily at home. The workshops emphasizes that with a good financial management, it is possible to decide and achieve savings objectives beyond the monthly income available. In effect, it was highlighted by Eleana Figueroa, the manager of the human management of the business department of Fybeca, ABF and OkiDoki. Convinced by the positive impact of this initiative, GPF empowered its team for the management of personal resources to be a source of tranquility and stability, so that the company will continue in 2018 workshops throughout the country. 19

III Anglo American Golf Tournament
La Cámara Ecuatoriano Británica ganó la copa de la III Edición del Anglo American Golf Tournament gracias a la excelente participación y desempeño de las empresas que formaron parte del equipo Británico.
The British Ecuadorian Chamber won the Third Edition of the Anglo American Golf Tournament thanks to the excellent participation and performance of the companies that were part of the British team.
Montecristi Golf Club fue el equipo ganador del torneo conformado por Christian Centeno, Jafet López, Juan Antonio Serrano y Darío Herrera.
Montecristi Golf Club was the winning team of the tournament represented by Christian Centeno, Jafet López, Juan Antonio Serrano and Darío Herrera.
El equipo Británico fue liderado por nuestro Cónsul Honorario y Presidente, Nicholas Armstrong. Al torneo asistió como invitado especial, el Cónsul de Estados Unidos, Andrew Sherr. El evento congregó alrededor de 150 invitados y la participación de 18 equipos - empresas, generando nuevas relaciones comerciales entre los socios de ambas Cámaras.
The British team was led by our Honorary Consul and President, Nicholas Armstrong. At the tournament the United States Consul, Andrew Sherr, attended as a special guest. The event brought together around 150 guests and the participation of 18 teams - companies. The aim is to generate new commercial relations between the members of both Chambers.

Cata de Whisky Produbanco Whisky tasting with Produbanco
El 13 de diciembre, con el auspicio de Produbanco la Cámara Británica junto con la Scotch Whisky Society organizó una cata de whisky en la maravillosa Hacienda Rumiloma. El directorio y sus socios beneficiaron de un menú de 4 tiempos con los mejores single malt escoses. On the 13th of December, with the support of Produbanco, the British Chamber and the Scotch Whisky Association organised a whisky tasting in the beautiful Hacienda Rumiloma. The board of directors and their partners enjoyed a four times menu with the best Scottish single malts.

Whisky tasting with the IZO group La Cámara Británica organizó con el auspicio de IZO una cata de whisky exclusiva para el directorio y socios. La cata tuvo un menú de cuatro tiempos con los mejores single malt escoceses, la misma que se realizó en la Hacienda Rumiloma. With the support of the IZO group, the British Chamber of Commerce organised an exclusive whisky tasting for its directors and partners. The tasting had a four season menu that combined the best Scottish single malt, it was the same tasting that took place in la Hacienda Rumiloma.

Manejo Integral de la Plataforma Sut Integral Management of the SUT platform Viernes 27 de octubre y 17 de noviembre del 2017 Friday, 27th of October and 17th of November 2017 El Ing. Ricardo Arellano, Marco Oleas y Adriana Jaramillo fueron los encargados de disertar sobre algunas temáticas como los cambios en la plataforma SUT, cambios en nuevo formatos de Reglamento de Higiene y Seguridad, entre otros. El mismo fue realizado en el Mezzanine del edificio “Las Cámaras”, evento al cual asistieron socios y amigos.
