ibraltar United took all three points after a well disciplined defensive display which saw them beat Lions FC by 1-0.

Lions who pressed forward throughout the ninety minutes were held back by a solid calm defensive display from Gibraltar United who seemed to be led on every move by their manager.

Spectalcular saves by Gibraltar United's goalkeeper thwarted attempts at goal by Lions who could not find the back of the net. The three points took Gib Utd momentarily above Manchester 62, placing them also six points clear of second from bottom placed Glacis United who were beaten 11-0 by Lincoln.

ith the festive season out of the way and having come from beating Gibraltar United 6-0 just before Christmas Lincoln Red Imps came out with new determination.

Already three points ahead in the league after beating closest rivals Europa FC Lincoln Red Imps started 2016 recording their biggest victory of the season with a two digit scoreline of 11-0 against Glacis United.

Scoring their first goal within the first few minutes from kick-off Lincoln steamed ahead devastating Glacis defence.

Glacis, whose gameplay has improved under new management made a fatal tactical error attacking Lincoln from the start. Caught out in the first 20 minutes, and already four nil down, Glacis were unable to change their style of play to defend deeper.

Lincoln's powerful attacking style created cracks throughout the Glacis defence, with devastating efficiency making Glacis seem as only training partners during the match. Hungry to capitalise on every attack even at half time it was already clear to see that Lincoln would reach the double digitals with ease.

Lee Casciaro came out with four goals, with brother Kyle scoring three of his own and Joseph another. Substitute Souissi scoring the last goal after Walker and Blasco had added to the tally.

Britannia rules the way

W

ith the match starting with rumours that both St Joseph and Britannia are seeking new blood in the coming transfer window, both teams set out determined to take the three points. A tense, end to end match saw both teams playing with intensity until the very last minute.

Britannia took the lead first only to see their joy end soon as St Joseph's hit the back of the net within minutes.

As the second half restarted Britannia took the lead and took advantage of St Josephs losing one of the players to a second yellow

card.

Steaming ahead to a 4-1 lead and with just minutes to go Britannia slowed down a couple of gears to thier detriment.

A ten man St Joseph continued to press forward and battle for every ball, eventually scoring two more goals within the closing minutes.

A miss in front of goal in the last seconds of injury time saw the excitment come to an end with St Josephs unable to get a deserved equaliser, in what turned out to be the most exciting match of the first weekend of 2016.

A

7th January 2016

frail looking, jittery Lynx defence gifted Europa with two goals to give them the three points in a 2-1 defeat of Lynx.

With the rain having momentarily held back the Monday night match was marked by the mistakes more than the strength from any one of the two teams.

Even though Lynx started play attacking Europa’s goal, seeing Europa unable to reach the opposition penalty area for over 20 minutes, it was a quick counter attack by Europa that opened the scoresheet.

Lynx defence started to look frail when exposed to pressure letting Europa through for a second time just ten minutes later for Barranco to score.

As the first half came to an end Lynx pulled one back to make the score 2-1.

The second half saw Europa come out the stronger pressing hard in midfield and tearing Lynx’s frail looking defence apart on numerous occasion. By the first 15 minutes of the second half the score could have been at a hammering stage had Europa capitalized on the many goal openings.

Instead, the usually efficient Europa frontline continued to fail to complete in front of goal even though Lynx seemed suicidal in the centre of defence, at times defenders going for the same ball without their rivals close by.

With Europa unable to complete at the finishing line Lynx attackers pressed the Europa defence and nearly secured an equalizer. A tough decision by a linesman disallowing a goal for offside.

Europa for their part also had a disallowed goal.

Both Europa and Lynx managers could be seen expressing their frustrations at their own players who their frailties crept up. Europa maintained themselves second with this important victory.

No angelic protection as they tumble to Manchester boys

T

he newly promoted Angels have yet to impress in the First Division only having obtained three points against relegation strugglers Glacis before the Christmas break.

With eleven defeats under their belt they were not to disappoint pundits betting against them, against a Manchester 62 side who has yet to impress themselves.

Under new management, Manchester 62 came out onto the field looking as if their senior team had been chopped up to let in new blood.

A shambolic display in defence by Angels, coupled by amateurish mistakes across the field paved the way for Manchester 62 to regain its position above Gibraltar Utd. click here to see full gallery collection in our website

7th January 2016 Manchester 62, however, did not capitalize on the many Angels errors until the second half when they scored their second after ending the first half equal on goal.

Angels who had gained the respect from many of the top teams for their determined 90min effort which has even seen them stretch Europa, were no where near their best. A lack of fitness, and a lack of any type of creative response or organization was punished by the young Manchester boys who ventured forward at every opportunity.

A 4-1 scoreline reduced Manchesters goal difference to an acceptable level and placed them one point above Gibraltar Utd fourth from bottom. Angels remained at the foot of the table looking as certain relegation candidates.

Lions five end without a roar

With just five players turning up for the Lions Futsal side to face a full St Josephs Spark Energy side, with twice as many players on the bench, a 20-0 scoreline with 8 minutes to go was enough to see the Lions team limp out and the match abandoned.

Having held the score to 0-0 for the first eight minutes, Lions came apart as exhaustion started to sink in.

A 14-0 scoreline by half time left the valiant five Lions players demoralised and just hoping for the end of the match.

With one of their players going down injured within the first five minutes of the second half, Lions continued with just four on the pitch. As exhaustion sank in the players collapsed to the ground unable to proceed forcing the referee to call a halt to the match. A 20-0 scoreline saw St Josephs take not just the points but a massive goal difference record into the league table.

Futsal Battle for top spot

Lynx let two goal lead go as Glacis take points

T

he first weekend of the year brought the two top teams together in what could be a title decider.

Lynx had been leading the league table before the match, and in the same way took the lead during the match. Glacis took until the 17th minute to hit the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-1.

Half time saw the end of Lynx’s hopes as

they started on the back foot and saw their lead reduced and then overcome. With a 5-2 lead already Glacis let Lynx get one back before they closed the scoresheet scoring their sixth and final goal.

Those watching were entertained throughout the 40 minutes, which was really more like 90 minutes with the way futsal works. End to end action, with a fast paced passing game saw both teams battling out across the pitch.
