The entire personnel of Zaman International School did an outstanding work with abundant efforts on school activities this year. Not only school educators, also students contributed to all annual events we arranged. Over 50 experiments were conducted by the support of 100 students, and we deeply appreciate our students’ efforts that they put. We believe that our guests were amazed and interested with our projects. Besides, we strongly wish to do more better activities up-coming year. Thus, we are working on our new plans at the moment; we are trying to improve our annual curriculum in order to start brand new year with more fresh and fascinating ideas. At the end, we would like to express our gratefulness for your interest and your genuine love for Chemistry.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

All science requires mathematics. The knowledge of mathematical things is almost innate in us. This is the easiest of sciences, a fact which is obvious in that no one’s brain rejects it; for laymen and people who are utterly illiterate know how to count and reckon. Roger Bacon

Music Club
Bono says music can change the world because it can change people…Even though we had challenges of introducing what music in reality is to our students, we have shared great achievements in many works. We together started to crawl between music notes and sounds. Special thanks to Glee Club students and those who received music classes for their valuable time and patience. Without our students’ presence in Glee Club, we would not be able to show a very well-done classic music choir to our school members. All activities (Classic music concert, visit to ministry of art and culture, musicals& piano recitals) that we had with these talented ladies and gentlemen are full of memories and achievements…

Physics Department Egg Drop Competition On March 29th 2014, Zaman International School had arranged the first annual world-known competition, called “The Egg Drop Competition. The idea of the competition is to attach a raw egg, with tapes, to a home-made parachute and to drop it mid-air with the ultimate challenge of making sure the egg neither breaks nor cracks when it touches the ground. Since the competition was Zaman’s first, many students participated in groups of 3 or 4 to ensure a victory. So Yoshi, Viseth and I formed a group. The day of the competition arrived. We dropped the egg. With wide open eyes and a pounding heart, we fixed our gaze on the parachute as it went down the building. As it was making its way down, the wind almost blew our parachute away from the targeted drop area, but miraculously, it blew it back to the gigantic plastic dart board. To our great relief, it landed safely on the ground, on the number 2. Our parachute landed perfectly and our egg didn’t crack! We were super excited and so glad that we did it. It was one super fun day. It was also a fun experience for us and for other students as well. Just like other students, we hope that there will be more of such fun and challenging competitions. “Accept the Challenges, so you will feel the exhilaration of Victory”. George S. Patton
Japanese Style Watermelon Cutting Competition When I think of watermelons, I think of the sweet taste and the redness of the flesh inside. Not much attention is paid to the outside. But as usual, science opened a door to a different way of seeing things. On March 1st, the Physics department offered a chance to blow up watermelons in an unconventional way- with rubber bands. With the promise of a day filled with laughter, music, and fun in the sun, my team (shout out to the best team members ever, Tomi, Nalita, Sirey Neath!) and I, Priyanith, set up our watermelons on the canteen table and started stacking rubber bands. The pressure started building up after 10 minutes of finger-breaking work in stacking the rubber bands around the watermelon and it shot up clean into the air, with bits and pieces of the flesh hitting our own flesh. Sticky and sweaty, we can proudly say that the day was a success and came to the conclusion that blowing up things is strangely satisfying. It was an awesome event and it got awesome-er when we won the 1st price for the video challenge. Good on you, Physics department!
