The chemistry demo contest is a contest for all grades to have the opportunity to prove their abilities by showing different kinds of interesting chemistry experiments. This is the 2nd demo contest, and it was held on the 13th of March, 2010. Students were working hard on their projects for 2 weeks before the contest. They used all their abilities and their entire lunch

breaks so that they would have enough time to perfect their projects in order to be the best. In this demo, there were 89 students who participated, and 43 projects. It took place in the chemistry lab (for the non polluting experiments), while the projects that produced a lot of noxious gasses were in the canteen. It was divided into 2 parts: the morning part (from

in Cambodia, and rice bran is not generally used in industry. So, using waste substances to produce biodiesel is a very effective method. Actually, there are 2 steps. First is to get oil from rice bran. Although it is a simple method, it takes too much time. To extract rice bran oil easily, some equipment is needed. That equipment is found in the industrial research laboratory of Cambodia. By asking permission, we used their laboratory for around one week. In total, the project was finished in around one month. Actually, the most important thing is to join ISWEEP and do good research to find the right

During the demo, there were noises everywhere. People shouted for their materials, they cheered for their friends, and they screamed

There are lots of projects to be found on the internet. To determine which project is the best one for you; check last year`s ISWEEP projects and other similar project competitions to find projects related to Cambodia's needs. Everyone felt tired, but happy. However, if took a look at our chemistry lab and the canteens’ table, we would have seen that t h e y w e r e S U P E R d i r t y. Unluckily, students who had chemistry class on the following Monday got to do all the cleaning. Two weeks later, the results were posted on the bulletin board. 1st place went to 11E for “Dancing Coke”, which belongs to Pheanouk Lim, 5742 & Chay Mey Ly, 7904. They got a $100 coupon. 2nd was 9B; Bun Tong Yun, 7631, for the project called “Blood Cocktail”, which helped him to get $75. " Doner (Turkish Kebab) Time For 11-F

We were planning to have some activities on the weekend, but we weren't sure what we would do. We had a flashback to our previous activity, which was at Summer Festival, which reminded us about the food we ate then. It was DONER. After

that we decided to ask our homeroom teacher, Ms. Vesile, for permission to eat doner at school for our activity on the weekend. Saturday came and there were about 16 to 17 students who came to join in this activity.

Everybody was so excited and came to school early for our doner. And while we were waiting for some more friends and teacher to show up, we were drooling around the school, taking pictures, etc...... At 11 o'clock, we gathered in the

waiting room and then our teacher and Abla came. Our activity started then and we went upstairs to the third floor of the school. There is a big canteen there for teachers. We entered the canteen and Azize Abla told us to serve the food ourselves. There was soup, doner, rice, bread, salad, coke, and water. We got all of it for each of us. All of us sat at a long table. We ate happily together, chit-chatted, laughed. After we finished eating, Ms. Vesile asked us if we wanted to take a picture with the doner. We all agreed, then we went inside the kitchen and all of us took a picture with the Doner. It was so much fun, and the food was wonderful too. So then we decided to go home after because we had had a delicious lunch already. This activity made 11F's friendships become stronger and we also hope the next activity is like this again, too. For the last word, from our hearts we want to say the word ''thanks'' to our homeroom teacher Ms. Vesile, and also Azize Abla, who both prepared this activity for us.

ACTIVITIES

It was a Monday morning, which also happened to be International Woman's Rights Day. Our homeroom teacher had invited our moms to come to have lunch at the dormitory. At 10a.m. some of our moms arrived there. They were warmly welcomed by our teachers. They talked with our teachers about many different and interesting topics. Our moms asked our teachers whether there was anything they could do to help prepare lunch. Our teachers said they could use some help cooking Khmer rice. Our teachers and moms waited until our friends and their mothers arrived. When all of our moms and our friends had arrived, our moms and teachers went to cook rice together. Mrs. Yasemin showed our moms how to cook

Turkish rice. When the rice was ready, Mrs. Yasemin showed our moms and us around the dormitory while Ms. Serife and Sirin took meat to the barbecue to cook. The dormitory is quite big, comfortable, and quiet with a very relaxing environment. Our moms and teachers were a little tired from going around so they sat down and had some cold water to drink. Then, it was our turn to help. We were the ones who prepared the fruit. At about 1p.m., everything was well prepared. We all sat down together to eat. We got barbecue which our teachers had prepared the night before so it would taste good. The barbecued meat was marinated with milk, salt and many other ingredients. Turkish rice, which was prepared with oil, cheese and salt, seemed

unusual but as soon as we put it in our mouths, we felt it tasted different from Khmer rice. It tasted very good. We each got Khmer rice and a salad dish composed of ingredients such as lemon, salt and many different types of vegetables. After we ate, our homeroom teacher showed us how to make and prepare Turkish tea. We tasted the tea, and it tasted fantastic. Then, we had chocolate cake with fresh, sweet banana inside. We got apples carved in a heart shape, red berries spelling the phrase "I love U", bananas, mangos and a lot more. We designed the cake like this because we wanted to show our moms that we love them so much. When we finished having our lunch, we gave our moms a surprise by showing them a special slideshow. First of

all, it talked about how grateful we were to our parents. We thanked them for their care, their love, and everything they had provided us. We said we loved our moms, and our moms said they loved us too, more than they could say. We all talked together for a while, and when it was almost 2:30p.m. we went home. We all had a very nice, unforgettable time. Thanks to our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Yasmine, our assistant teacher, Ms. Merve, and all the other assistant teachers. We love you! ACTIVITIES

2010 was coming…everybody was so excited waiting for 11E’s class day. In addition, all the members of 11E were so nervous as they practiced very hard for their class day. And then it was the 24th of January, 2010, the date of 11E’s class day. We appeared very nervous but at the same time we were also very excited, because our class day was the first in 2010. The program ran from 10:00 am til 12:00 pm with two pairs of emcees. At the beginning of the program we had our national anthem to show our respect to Cambodia, and everyone had to stand up. The 2nd program was the slide show which introduced all of 11E to our parents and teachers. This was followed by a Khmer traditional dance called the “Nesat Dance” (Fishing Dance) which comes from Kompong Chnang province and shows the daily life of the villagers. Then it was time for a game, and this game was very interesting. Three pairs of players used clay to make an object based on the word that we gave them. The person who completed it first and answered a question correctly got a big gift. After the game we wanted our audience to feel relaxed, so we had a violin performance. Three performers played a song called “Love Story”. The romantic melody made the audience feel very pleased. The 6th performance was a Japanese song sung by two of my friends. The song is called “Let Me Hear Your Voice” and it was beautiful and it really made the audience feel like they were hearing their own hearts sing. They were surprised that we could sing in Japanese. After the Japanese song, we sang a Khmer Song for our parents, the song is named “Chanh Teak Kon Khmer”, and we sang it with strong emotion so all the parents could feel it. We had already had 2 songs one after another, so we changed pace and watched a drama. This was a Khmer drama, the acting was amusing and interesting. Just the title of it made all the parents laugh happily and wonder about it. The name of the drama was “Choosing Miss Universe Competition near the

smelly river side”. All of the miss universe contestants were talented, beautiful, and funny. The audience couldn't stop laughing. As soon as the Khmer drama finished there was a Turkish Song which is very popular in the girls side, named “Kuyumun Yagmulari”. They sang the song beautifully. Then the thing everyone was waiting for came, it was time for the lovely Lucky Draw. Everybody

seemed so excited about winning something. The numbers that were drawn were picked from the numbers people had been given when they arrived. When we had already given gifts to the 5 luckiest people in the audience, the next performance was what all the students had been waiting for, a group named “C-A” with 7 performers who danced a Korean song called “Sorry Sorry

(Re-remix)”. They had trained for the dance in just a month, so they were very rushed. They dressed in Korean men's style clothing and danced like men. They also combined the remix part with other 8 Korean songs, complete with a short dance in it. At the end of the song all their friends (11F students) give them a big applause and supported them a lot. Then we had another performance to present to our

audience, it was a magic show which used chemical substances to make fire in several colours. They acted out a drama where Romeo showed some magic tricks to Juliet, ending with Romeo giving a diamond necklace to his Juliet in a very sweet moment. After this romantic scene there was another sweet performance, it was an English Song called “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. This song is very sweet. We had 3 Juliets singing with 3 Romeos to perform this, they acted like they were really sweet couples. At this time the program changed again, with a performance that was not singing, dancing, or acting. It

was a fashion show with very funny ladies modelling 11E’s many different new style of clothes. They wore funny clothes and funny make up and walked in a humorous way. Everybody in the conference hall laughed very loud; some of our parent’s even had tears rolling down their faces. This was followed by an English drama called “Incredible Dentist”, a very funny moment at the dentist's office with funny patients. The 3rd to last show was a slide show again, but this time we showed pictures of our school activities and our best memories ever. 2nd to last was the last performance that we

performed that day. We sang a song together which showed the strong feelings of friendship in 11E. The song that we sang together is named “We are the Bridge”. All the friends were hand in hand together forming a bridge, how wonderful it was. The very last part of our class day was thanking all the parents for coming to our class day and we had a snack that we wanted our parents to taste. They all seem so happy with the food and drinks. We were all happy that many people could attend our class day and 11F thanks them very much. We will never forget the time together sharing these

happy moments. Last but not least, all of the audience was so pleased with all of the performances. One of the parents said: “My child is creative now, and also she is also very talented, I like very much that she can be happy with her friends when she is not studying. Yes, now she growing up fast and she knows how the world can be filled with friendship. I was very happy watching the performance, and I would like to watch it again.” Written By: Sivyong Banh / Sopha Ven

ACTIVITIES

I don’t know how this story will make you feel. My teacher wanted me to write it in an amusing way. And I hope you will all enjoy my story. This story was not a big deal for anyone but 12E. Under the safe shelter of our school's dorm let us have a very precious time together. We all know about the dorm, and also most of the students have already experienced it. But you probably will be surprised to hear that this time it was different and special only for us. How was it different? We went not for studying and stayed only a night. How was it special? Our homeroom teacher, Miss Vesile Kaplan, let the whole class go to celebrate all together because she wanted us to have a nice time together before we graduated. You could also say that you all had a good time together with your friends when you stayed with your teachers. But how many of you can say you have done things like we did, with no need to hide them from your teacher. You could see how this time was a very exclusive time, right? You will never know until you try it. Nothing big happened, just our hearts got closer and warmer while we were together and our friendship got ever stronger. This fabulous time occurred on Friday, 12th March, 2010, after we had been waiting for it for a long time. Twenty-three students attended the party. Because most of us had extra classes after school, they would go later, and were responsible for cleaning up after the meal. Another detail, friends who went with the teachers would handle the cooking. When everybody was there, we began to eat. Our dinner that night was chicken barbecue that was grilled by us. It was not high class food but you would be happy to taste our cooking that night, as were we. But firstly, to welcome the students who were just arriving, they were served with a welcoming cake which looked like a banana cake, not a chocolate cake. And what was really surprising was that when you put it in your mouth you

would have to take it out again immediately. Why? It was because of a cake maker’s mistake, putting in salt instead of sugar. Why should the party would be without music? No way, and it would not happen to us as long as we had our own music operator. When she came, she was busy with her setting up and she prepared not only the music, but this time she prepared special effects to turn the room’s atmosphere into that of a little disco. Since everything was ready, the light was tuned off and we started to dance together with our assistant teachers. That night we had Sheva staying with us at the dormitory. Time flew so fast, one of our friends left for home first. After the dinner and dance, we were told by our homeroom teacher to line up in the car park, and she also told us to bring the everyone including the DJ outside to dance with her. That was not all; she had prepared a shocking moment for us, and the assistant teacher splashed water on us behind our backs and it made us run around like ants trying to escape from the flood. Of course we took our revenge and this

time everyone enjoyed it and no one stayed dry. After the water party, we changed our clothes and it was time for tea, and we could enjoy a real cake that was prepared for us. But also we felt sad again when one of our friends had to leave to go home before tea time. Our teacher would have liked us to go to bed after tea time, but we wanted to chat in one of the rooms first. She had promised us to let us stay together all in one room, but she broke her promise because there were more students at that time than when she had made the promise. But anyway, we could still have a pajama party together until the sun rose in the morning, and we did get her permission for that. Give a big hand to a friend of ours who shed a tear or two, and our teacher finally had to let us stay together. Now it was time for the real party to begin, we talked all night and no one would let us go to sleep because if you slept you would have some salt put in your mouth or your face would have been drawn on with a marker when you woke up the next morning. The topic kept changing, from ghost story to history. What could

make our eyes stay wide open were the really interesting and exciting facts that were being told to us by a friend who read a lot since she was young. But the problem was some of us wanted to sleep, since it was three o’clock in the morning by then, and some of us were hungry again. So our sleepy heads got permission to sleep, and our big chef cooked spaghetti for our hungry friends. But after one of our real trouble makers was full she got her energy back and she announced that she couldn’t sleep and would not let anybody else sleep too. So that’s why most of us who stayed in the big room could not sleep peacefully. Some of us escaped to another room and slept peacefully. Do not misunderstand that what we did was good for health. We just stayed up all night in order to have a great experience together as senior high school students, one which we could not do anymore after we finished high school. We do not know what tomorrow will bring us; just make sure our friendships grow more beautiful, day by day.

n the 12th of March, it was the first time to have a field trip for kindergarteners (K1A,K2A and K2B classes). Actually, we have had a few field trips so far. What makes the trip special is that no parents attending the activity on that day. That made the kids feel very excited. They started to enjoy it as they were getting on the school bus all by themselves. Besides, it was Friday and instead of having classes we were going outside. That made the activity much more enjoyable. It was a visit to Hunsen Library that is very close to our school. Although, we have nice library in our school that we like a lot. As teachers we wanted them to see a public library which is big, crowded and to feel the real library atmosphere. Hunsen Library is not a really big one but it was crowded that day, a lot of university students were studying there. There were a few things that surprised our kids. First of all, it was silent there, unlike our school library.

9

And there were many huge bookshelves full of books. The kids were seeking for colorful books around but there were just a few books for kids. Our kids were warmly welcomed by the library staff and the students who were studying

there during our visit. After we finished checking the library building, we had some snacks in the garden while sitting on the grass. Since our little ones behaved themselves very well during the whole visit, we praised

them with the snack time in the garden that they enjoyed a lot. Visiting a library may sound a little boring for little kids but it isn’t. It was a great experience for them. It was the first time for most of them to see a l i b ra r y exc e pt t h e s c h o o l library. Since the computers and other technological devices have reduced the need for reading a book, they can h a rd l y s e e a re a l re a d i n g atmosphere. We think that it’s better if we can make them familiar with such kinds of occasions as early as possible to boost their interest towards reading. At the end of the day, they were all tired but happy and they were asking for the next field trip. I asked one of my little girls if she liked the library or not. She answered: “Teacher it was nice but next time I want to go to our school library , it is more beautiful.” Prepared by:Kindergarten

writings such as fables, poems and folktales. On this latter part of their 3rd quarter, students are learning about different folktales and they too are given the chance to write their own piece. Below is one of the best stories that Grade 3B student have written. The Turtle and the Treasure Long, long ago in Singapore, there lived a fisherman with his wife and a turtle along the beach. One morning the turtle wanted to lay eggs but it was afraid that a snake might eat its eggs. The turtle was so anxious about it. So the turtle thought of looking for a safe place to lay its eggs... It didn’t find a place of laying the eggs so he finally decided to dig and burry its eggs under the sand but it didn’t notice that a snake was watching. Not long enough, the snake attacked the turtle and tried to get its egg. The turtle shouted HELP! HELP! The fisherman heard the turtle’s cry and hurried out to help the turtle. The fisherman stabbed the snake until it died.

Then the turtle laid its eggs and dig as deep as it can to assure the safety of its eggs. It digs and it digs until it found a pirate‘s treasure. The turtle decided to give the treasure to the fisherman and its wife to thank him for saving its life and its eggs. The fisherman and his wife agreed to buy the beach where they buried the turtle eggs and called it “The Turtle Cave”. From that day on, the turtle and the babies were safe and sound. The fisherman and his wife were pleased to help the turtle. They lived happy and comfortable. THE END. Moral Lesson: Helping others is rewarding. Third quarter exam is coming very soon. We reviewed about Present perfect and simple past tense using the snake and ladder game. Everyone was speaking English. Each group had 4 to 5 members and each of us had the chance to roll the dice and whatever number we landed we have to answer the questions with the correct tense. The game was awesome and everyone liked it. We were not only having fun but we are also learning. The nicest part was when someone wins he or she gets a chocolate. n April 3, 2010, our school decided to have an activity called “Fun Fair”. It started at 8:00am and ended at 11:00am . It started late due to an unexpected heavy rain but then the show must go on. We had games to play and there were some students who were selling food and drinks. Like us, we sold bubble tea and teachers as well with other food. There were a lot of people who bought bubble tea from us.

One of the games that our te a c h e rs o p e n e d was th e basketball which was then followed by the profitable face painting and on with other games like can shooting, beanbag toss, jump rope and many other fun to play games. After the first set of game, the initial stage presentation was opened and 3B class had a dance presentation. The crowd was then liven up when the groovers from my class presented a Korean dance to the tune of “Heartbeat”. 2nd

ga m e s e t t o o k p l a c e a n d ended, then, another stage presentation started with this time female groovers from my very own class rendered another Korean dance with the song “ Tell Me Your Wish”, which was led by Vanneath. A Turkish Olympic winner from grade 11 sang a Turkish song. She was wonderful. Then came the lucky draw which was another exciting part of the fair. Teachers and parents picked the winning numbers and 10 classes fortunately got

the 10 consolation prizes. While classes from 5A, 4A and 3C were the most lucky enough to have brought home the bicycles which was the top 3 major prizes! When the clock hit 11am, games were finished, students went home teachers had their break. I, on behalf of my fellow students, would like to thank the Administrators, teachers and staff for this wonderful activity that they prepared for us. ‘). Prepared By: 6-A

GENERAL Revised Short Story “the Mother Cow And The Wolf”

Long time ago, there was a mother cow and her seven calves. She would always tell her sons that if she is not at home, they should lock the door and don’t let any get in unless she comes back. One day, the wolf knew that there were seven calves in the house and their mother was gone so he tried to trick the little calves. The wolf said, “Open the door, I’m your mother”. The calves re p l i e d , ‘ Yo u a re n o t o u r mother because our mother doesn’t have claws on her feet”. The second time, the wolf painted his legs and

knocked the door, “Son open the door, it’s me your mother”. The little calf opened the door and the wolf jumped in and ate the calves, but, fortunately, there was one left hiding from the clock. When the mother came back, she didn’t see the calves and the little one left hiding came out and said that the wolf ate all his brothers. The mother cow, in rage, took an axe, went to the wolf and cut his stomach. All the calves inside jumped out for joy and hugged their mother. Prepared By: Hong Sok

ACTIVITIES

Wednesday, the 10th of March, 2010 was the most exciting day ever for 11F students. We arrived at school at 7:15 AM and put our l u g g a g e i n t h e Tu r k i s h Department. Then we went to class for 9 hours. During class everyone, especially Dadaly (Duong) waited patiently for the evening to come. Finally, at 4:10 PM, after the bell rang, we ran as quickly as we could toward the Turkish Department to prepare to go to dormitory. I (Larath), Vimol and maybe Rachana (I guess) were asked to carry food, including rice, chicken, salad, and fried eggplant for our dinner. We waited 5 minutes for the school’s car, and the drive to the dormitory took about 15 minutes, during which time we were singing and laughing along the way. At last, we were standing outside dormitory waiting to enter. The first step that we took into dorm area was the most exciting step of our dreams. In a rush we went upstairs to our room and assigned ourselves to a bed. Then dinnertime came and it was my favorite time of all. I was the last one to finish our meal (I ate a lot, that’s why). After an hour and a half of study hour, tea time arrived; we had few different kinds of fruit and some desserts. Next, we used the time to continue studying for 30 minutes while Vichta and Vimol were being helped to practice their singing and writing skills with Ms. Vesile and Ms. Sibel. This great event soon passed, we went to bed and slept happily, dreaming of what would happen the next day. On Thursday morning, Dadaly was the alarm clock that woke all of us up at 5AM. I was really angry at being woken up so early, and went back to sleep. Meanwhile all of my friends took a shower. At 6:59AM our school’s car came and dropped us at school at 7:15AM. Let’s just skip the part that we had class the whole day and then went back to dormitory as usual. Back at the dormitory that evening, it was different from the day before, Dadaly and I had to go to ACE for our evening course there. Both of us got back to the dorm at 8:15PM, and we saw that

everybody had finished eating dinner. But luckily there were some leftovers in kitchen. We started our dinner, just the two of us, while everyone else started tea time. But not painful at all, we ate until you could see our big tummies. Then we went upstairs, and started our study hour for about an hour until every one of us felt so sleepy. We went into our room, Dadaly and I took a shower and then we started to talk until all of us fell asleep on our own beds. Friday morning came, Dadaly was still the alarm clock for all of us. I wondered how she could get up so early in the morning. After we had done taking showers, we made the

beds and prepared our things. We went down for breakfast, and afterwards we went back up again. Then we packed our stuff and brought it downstairs. The school's car came, we said good bye to our lovely dormitory and all hoped to come back sometime soon in the future.

All in all, thanks to our homeroom teacher, Ms. Vesile, and our assistant teacher, Ms. Aziza for taking care of us and giving us a warm happy time in the dormitory. We will never forget that. Never, ever. LOVE, LOVE. 11F Written by: Lylarath Poly

ACTIVITIES

9F has only had one activity at the new girl’s dormitory. So we were all very excited and eager to start our turn to stay at dormitory. Everyone in our class wanted to come but only a lucky nine of us got permission from their parents to go. Those nine lucky students included me, Nora, Kim, Moly, Daly, Phalnika, Raksmey, Moly, Lythimey and Minea. The fun was due to begin on Wednesday, 24th of March. On Wednesday morning most of us brought our suitcases to school; the biggest one was Minea’s. We could hardly wait until the end of the day. When school finally finished, we got into the school bus with Miss Shirin, our lovely assistant teacher, and had an entertaining ride to the dorm. When we got there, we each ran as fast as we could to grab a bed near the air conditioner, which in the end went to Raksmey. We then took showers. After our showers it was dinner time. Some of my friends helped Mrs. Grace - our beloved homeroom teacher, and Miss Shirin set the tables and prepare the food. We were all starving by then and the food from the school kitchen was very satisfying to our hungry stomachs. Then it was time for us t o s t u d y. A f t e r t h a t w a s completed, the next thing on the to-do list at the dorm was teatime. On the menu were watermelons, mangos, potato chips............. and of course, tea. The main snack was cookies covered with chocolate pudding, sprinkled on top with coconut which read “9F”. Back we went to studying. At ten we stopped, and we had to say goodbye to Mrs. Grace, Sevde and Orhan because they had to go home. We were still wide awake, and couldn’t go to sleep, so we put on some music. The next morning, we woke up late. We had set the alarm clock the night before but it did not go off, which resulted in us taking showers, preparing our bags, and eating breakfast the fastest I’ve ever seen it done. Breakfast was just as good as dinner and then we were good to go to school. For the second day, the routine was the same, with one big change: we were going to

celebrate Nora’s birthday. So we day we only had to study for one for teatime, we left Nora had a stop at a local bakery and session because it was our last upstairs. We were surprised to bought a cake for her. On that day here. When we came down see 2 cakes. One was the one

ACTIVITIES Continued from Page 17 we bought, and the other one was a cake prepared by Mrs. Grace. It was covered with chocolate pudding, and written in coconut powder were the words “Nora 16”. We lit the candles and called Nora downstairs. My friends and teachers sang “Happy Birthday” and we sprayed snow spray on each other. After teatime we danced, and when we finally went to our rooms for the night we found our birthday girl sound asleep. We went to sleep one by one. The next morning we woke up on

On Saturday the 20th of March, 2010, the students of 7E went on a fantastic visit to our homeroom teacher's house. We took this trip to celebrate the victories of our class. As you know, we received a $50 prize from the school for being the second cleanest class for the first term, and we also won 1st prize in the 7th grade English competition. Mrs. Grace, our homeroom teacher, decided to take us to her house (which is located near KFC and Pencil

Supermarket). We were all so excited because we had been waiting for this trip since the beginning of the school year. But sadly only 18 were present because 4 of our friends were absent. We agreed to meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, but some of us were late. The students who arrived early started baking our class cake by cracking open the eggs; some were mixing the eggs and all the other ingredients and then the

cake was put inside the oven to cook. It was around 10:30 a.m. before we had all finally arrived. We then went to the living room and watched a film. At 11 a.m. we all went to KFC and Pencil Supermarket to buy food for lunch. We bought soft drinks, some potato chips, hot dogs, pasta, ice cream, potato fingers for frying and we also bought 2 buckets of fried chicken. It was around 11:30 a.m. when we got back to the house. When we

time, had breakfast, grabbed our suitcases and left the dorm. We hated to say goodbye but we had to give other classes a chance to stay at the wonderful dorm too. We know that we will go back there again so we weren’t so sad. Thank you Mrs. Grace and Miss Shirin for making this experience one of 9F’s most cherished moments. Written by: Viriya Keo 7712 9F

arrived at the house most of us went to the living room and watched TV. Some were playing computer games and others were watching TV. But 2 or 3 of us were in the kitchen with our teachers preparing the food. We took turns cooking. When the food was cooked we ate the food on the floor -Turkish style. We all had a piece of chicken, some French fries, spring rolls, pasta, and sausages. It was so delicious. After eating we cleaned up and helped in washing the dishes. We listened to some music after that. Some students’ parents were starting to pick up their daughters by then so they didn’t get to eat the ice cream and the cake and also the potato chips. The lucky ones got to eat the delicious cake. It was a mixture of strawberry and chocolate with some coconut powder on top. It was fantastic! We continued our celebration by eating the ice cream and the chips the next day at school in the canteen. This was an activity we will never forget!!! We’d like to thank our beloved homeroom teacher Mrs. Grace, and assistant teacher Miss Shirin for making this activity possible and we would also like to thank the school for the prize money. Thanks for reading about our fabulous activity. This was truly an unforgettable event. We had lots of fun!! We love you teachers!!!! Thank you!! By: Priyanith Keo 7-E

ACTIVITIES

After years in ZIS, our class had never been to Kirirom. So this year 10F decided to go there because it was the first activity with our new homeroom teacher and the last activity with our new friend, Hanffa, before she went abroad. We had arranged a plan and decided to meet up on Saturday at 7 o’clock. There were 22 students who joined in the activity. A few people arrived early, even before the teachers. After some time, all the students arrived, and the time that we had been waiting for had come. It was time to get on the bus and start our mission! As we got on the bus we all tried our best to get the best seats but Dareth, Marina, and I were the ones who got them. We were a bit upset but Marina said that, ‘’sitting at the back gives us a better chance to eat than those people in the front seats.’’ All this time it was really noisy in the bus. We could hardly hear each other. Anyway, all of us were very excited about this acivity. We thought that we could leave, but when the bus engine roared we suddenly remembered that Leak hadn’t arrived yet. So we had to wait for her. 5 minutes later, Leak arrived and then the trip really began! The time was about 8 o’clock when we left school. The bus was a little bit quiet at first. No one said a word and I almost fell asleep…Luckily, one of our friends had brought DVDs which contained videos of some famous Korean songs such as RDD, heartbeat, again and again, fire, I don’t care, time to

love , wanna, and many other songs. The music was making Leak and Dareth, two of my friends who were sitting next to me, start dancing and singing. After a few minutes all of us sang along, too. Then Mr. Adem asked us some questions about this trip and about the school. He also entertained us with the games that our homeroom teacher and assistant teacher made for us. The game was called ‘’ Hot Potato’’. It was fun. Everyone enjoyed it! The next thing to do was take pictures and eat snacks that we had brought from Phnom Penh. All of us were so quiet, but this time we weren’t sleeping. We took tons of photos with each other. The time passed really fast, we felt like it was 5 minutes but actually almost two hours passed. We arrived at KOM PONG SPEU market, so Mrs. Kadriye, Ms. Sibel, Pisey, Seav hun, Ly houng, and some other friends of ours went to buy some food for lunch. While they were buying food, we went for a walk. When we got back we helped to carry the food to the bus. Then we continued our journey to the resort.. When we arrived at KIROROM resort, we got off the bus and helped carry all the stuff to the side of the swimming pool. It was a bit unfair that Dareth got lighter things to carry while me and Leakhena had to be responsible for an ice chest and rice. Bouyly was also carrying heavy things. But it was really fun. As we walked, we were making jokes,

laughing out loud, and again taking pictures. By the time we arrived at the lunch table, our hands were almost ruined. We then helped to prepare the lunch and started to eat immediately. The food we had for lunch was roasted chicken, grilled fish, mum la hong…etc. We were all so hungry and tired so we ate all the food on the table. While we were eating Bonita puzzled and asked, "Hey y’all, what’s wrong with these fish, the more we eat, the more fish there's left’’. Suddenly one of us answered, “Just finish eating everything”. After we were full, we cleaned the table and got ready to go for a walk. At the same time our class teachers were having lunch. Then she asked, “Did you see my grilled fish?” We all looked at each other, burst into laughter, and said, “We've just eaten the teacher’s food. That’s why the more we eat, the more fish that's left”. We apologized to the teachers and then we went for a walk. While we were walking we took funny pictures of each other

and laughed and joked around with each other. After a while our class teachers came up to us and we walked around the place together. Then Liza suggested that we must rent some boats and paddle around the lake. Everyone agreed so we went straight to the lake and rented boats. 5 boats were rented, 1 boat for every 2 people except for Tida, Neth, and Maden; they rented 1 boat for 3 people. It was the first time that we had gone boating. So at first the boats were a bit hard to control, but we managed it. After that we paddled around, raced with each other, and splashed water at each other like kindergarten kids. At the same time Ms. Kadriye took our pictures and told us to pose different ways. After rowing the boats we had to carry all the things to the bus and come back to Phnom Penh. We had eaten a lot for lunch, but we still continued eating in the bus. The things we ate were mangoes, guavas, and a lot more fruit. After finishing eating fruit, we realized that we hadn’t eaten our teacher-made chocolate cakes. So then we ate all the cakes. The cake was out of this world. And then we sang songs together. On the way back most of us fell asleep because we were so tired. And when we woke up, we had already arrived back in Phnom Penh. As we got to school, some of the parents were waiting to pick us up. That fun time has come and gone but the flavor, the taste of it, is still with us. The value of the time that we spent together with our friends and teachers is priceless… Written by: Leakhena & Devy

ACTIVITIES

That was the 1st time 12F had stayed at dormitory since we began the 12th grade. It started on Wednesday the 4th and went until Saturday the 6th of March. Everybody was amazed to hear that it was time for another stay at the dormitory. They remembered the happy times they had there with friends in the past. On the first day of the stay three of us arrived first; Lita, Chivy, and me. We went there with sister Sibel. When we arrived at the dormitory we were able to see the lovely medium size house with our eyes. It is two stories tall and has a balcony. The house has four bed rooms, one kitchen, and a large living room in which was placed a sofa, cupboard, and TV. What is more there was a garden and grounds where we could celebrate activities. After 30 minutes had passed, Thida Sank,Saryta, and Yuta arrived too. We helped our teacher to prepare the dinner. It was a delicious dinner and it was great for us to be together with our teachers and our assistant teachers. Then we went up stairs to do some studying. On the following day, when we were watching TV with teachers and our assistant teachers, the sounds of Linda and Chorly (accompanied by Sonita) could be heard through the door. During study time it was Chorly Saryta and Thida who were making a lot of comic moves and exchanging points of view. It was pretty funny! Furthermore, we all had a nice conversation and told many stories about ghosts, our studies, the future, and families. The sound of laughter was heard between 9 friends. Tea time came, we left our pens and books then went downstairs to the living room to have some dessert, which included fruit, and some hot tea to drink. We had a wonderful chit-chat with our teachers and our assistant teachers. We also shared with each other our views about the differences between the culture and traditions in Cambodia and Turkey. We continued our self study one hour more. Then we went to bed. Our assistant teachers took care of us well that

night, they came to our room four times to see how we were sleeping. The next day, there were more friends who came to join us; they were Sophay, Sandan, Sakon, Chhengleap , Moniroth and Danin. For the dinner we made BBQ for the meal. Everybody helped each other to cook and prepare the table. While we were cooking we took a lot of photos and played

some Korean music. At 9 p.m. all the meal had been eaten, we sang Turkish songs and did the moves for the song called Arkadasim Esek. It was so silly of 12F. Then, our assistant teachers found games for us and we started to play them together. They splashed water on us, then we splashed water and ice back at them and at our teachers. None of us stayed dry!!!!

The time passed, at 9.30 pm we finished our games and went back to our room. But we continued to play with water in the bathroom with our assistant teacher. We shampooed each other and sang a song together in the bathroom. We all laughed at each other. We were all tired so we stopped playing. We changed our clothes and went downstairs to join the tea time.

Then we went back to our room again and played music and danced together. It was the last night we could stay together soeverybody decided not to sleep. Some danced comically, everybody laughed, but they hid some sadness, too, in their minds. They were thinking of the time after we all graduate and grow apart from each other and our lovely teachers and our assistant teachers. Suddenly, our assistant

teacher, Miss Mever, entered our room and looked at us. She had a half smile on her face when she said to us that she didn’t want us to graduate from this school because she wouldn’t see us anymore after that time. We understood how she felt about us and tears almost sprang to our eyes. She went to her room and we started to look at each other and began to try to cheer up our friends.

We continued dancing and telling each other stories. It was 2 am by then so all our friends went to bed and slept peacefully. Morning arrived and we prepared our suitcases to return back home. After finishing breakfast together with our assistant teachers we said goodbye to each other and nodded our heads as the signal that we were leaving our assistant teachers and dormitory. Dormitory helps our friends and teachers to become closer and gives us a lot of happy memories. We really miss dormitory because we were like a family there, full of happiness and making sweet memories. Thanks to all the assistant teachers that were taking care of us and especially to Miss Mever. And we will never forget our teacher Yasemin, who isresponsible for us. Thanks to everybody from 12F that participated. Written by Chamroeun 12F
