Resident Fellow’s Foreword Dear readers, Welcome to the second issue of the East Asia College (EAC) Newsletter. We have just experienced many interesting student activities in March. In the General Knowledge Quiz Competition (一站到底), I was surprised by our students’ passion, the breadth and depth of their general knowledge, and the frequent interaction between the team players and the audience. In the Charity Round Campus Run and Happy Walk, I was touched by the number of students making donation for the less-advantaged. It is worth mentioning that we won the ‘Most Enthusiastic Participating Award’! Please explore this EAC Newsletter to find out more that may interest and amaze you! Our College is a living and learning community aiming to promote students’ whole-person development. Each EAC member can discover and develop their talent through diversified kinds of activities and networks in the College. Everyone of us contributes to this vibrant. I would like to encourage all EAC members to reach out and interact with others to explore and enjoy a meaningful and colorful college life. 月 10 日（星期三）假澳門大學文化中心隆重舉行。本次 活動是在澳大搬入新校區之前的最後一屆，吸引了眾多 書院同學的參與表演或者到場觀賞。本次 Talent
show
以樓層為單位進行競賽，由集體或個人準備文藝節目， 代表樓層爭奪最後的大獎。比賽的評委是由書院院長 Prof Iu 、副院長 Dr Andy Ip 以及全場的觀眾組成。 在由書院 Band 隊的精彩開場表演結束後，Talent

的表演暨競賽節目正式拉開帷幕。首先出場的是由 19 樓 集體帶給大家的話劇《朵蘭圖王子徵婚記》，該劇講述了
在 RT 黃檬的帶領下，來自 20 樓的八位美女帥哥一一亮
朵蘭圖王子為求得如意配偶巧設謎語進行徵婚，最終美
相，他們精心準備的合唱節目《情歌王》把一首首傳唱
麗聰明、勇敢追求真愛的潘多拉公主成功破解謎語，與
愛情的流行歌曲從全場觀眾的記憶中喚醒，使整個文化
王子幸福的生活在一起。詼諧創意的台詞，搞笑誇張的
中心成了一個放大版的 KTV 歌房。多首膾炙人口的經典
表演，以及歌劇元素的加入，整個表演熱鬧活潑逗得現
情歌以「串燒+對唱+合唱」的形式展示在舞台上，創意
場觀眾陣陣歡笑。
十足，氣場強大，觀眾的情緒被引至高點。「情」到濃

大家。沒有多餘的裝飾，用心演唱的 16 樓同學們像是
張青春放歌的年輕面龐，巨型投影儀上一張張書院生活
一個個吟唱詩人，想要跟現場觀眾分享他們對於自我
的照片紛紛呈現，台下的觀眾也被這溫馨畫面所感動，
認 同的以 及肯 定：「 我就 是我， 是顏 色不一 樣的 煙
跟著表演者一起吟唱，一起回憶屬於自己的 EAC 時光。
火… I am what I am」。
壓軸演出話劇《我們的大事記》由 18 樓 RT 郭善知和劉
前五個節目之後是中場休息環節，主辦方書院學生會
貝施同學主力編導，並以同學們集體創作，共有該樓層
的 Arts & Culture Working Group 特設有獎競猜環
二十多位同學參與台前表演，也是各樓層參與人數之
節。來自 20 樓的段野牧同學，憑藉對書院活動的積極
最。精心策劃的劇情由從「開學」到「廚神爭霸賽」等
參與和對書院各類資訊的瞭如指掌，最終以答對 5 道
六個不同篇章組成，巧妙地將該樓層參與或者舉辦的各
題的成績為樓層獲得神秘大獎！
項重要活動，如 High Table Dinner、「紅酒製作」、「廚 神爭霸」等搬到舞台上，並加入輕鬆搞笑的喜劇元素， 讓人回憶之餘，又帶給現場觀眾歡樂笑聲不斷，反響十 分熱烈。 場內觀眾投票完成後，王雅瑋同學演繹了一首悅耳動聽 的嘉賓節目《仙劍飛仙》，激動人心的評獎時刻終於到 來，最終根據點票結果，一等獎最終由《我們的大事 記》18 樓獲得，二三等獎分別由 17 樓和 19 樓摘得。

18 樓同學集體創作話劇《我們的大事記》最終摘得第二屆東亞書院 Talent Show 冠軍！

對於晚會的整體表現，Dr Andy 對大家的表現表示很滿意 並很感動，認為每個節目都有自己的特色，許多同學的表 現對他來說都是 a big surprise。 Prof Iu 也表示： 「同學們團結、親近的感覺讓人很感動，很多同學展示了 自己不一樣的一面，讓人感到驚喜。節目的形式也很有創 意，內容方面也是既能逗趣搞笑又能

In late March, famous travel writer Mr. A.J. ‘Sandy’ Mackinnon was invited to the University of Macau to share his experience in creative writing, public speaking and cultural exchange. He was invited to our EAC College Master’s Tea on 23rd March to deliver a speech entitled ‘The Maze and the Art of Living’. The EAC Editorial Team took this opportunity to have an in-depth chat with Sandy during the dinner of the event. Sandy told us some interesting stories that happened during his sailing adventures. He also showed his admiration of the blending of Eastern and Western cultures in Macau. We hope his view on the ‘maze of life’ can inspire our students to look at obstacles and happiness in life in a positive, refreshing way. 三月下旬，澳門大學邀請了著名旅遊作家 AJ 麥金農先生（桑迪）分享創意寫作、公開演講和文化交流等領域的經驗。3 月 23 日，麥金農先生應 邀到我們書院作為院長茶聚活動的嘉賓，發表題為「生活的迷宮與藝術」的演說。EAC 編輯團隊藉此機會與 Sandy 在活動晚宴上做了一個深入的 訪談。桑迪告訴我們在他航海冒險中發生的一些有趣故事，他還表達了對澳門東西方文化交融的欣賞。我們希望，他的「人生如迷宮」見解會激 勵同學們以一種積極的、嶄新的方式來看待生活中存在的障礙和幸福。
Sandy’s Journey Sandy Mackinnon was born in Australia and has a unique childhood by traveling between England and Australia on the P&Q ocean liners. This experience had probably engraved a las!ng impression about fascina!ng boat journeys deep inside li&le Sandy’s mind. A(er four decades, when Sandy was in his mid-for!es, feeling so ordinary and so insipid in his daily life, he started sailing out in search for his longabandoned dream of adventures. Ini!ally just intending a brief holiday before leaving England, Sandy con!nued and ended up sailing all the way from North Wales to Black Sea – 4,900 kilometers across 12 countries. Sandy overcame this extraordinarily long journey full of innumerable dangers that you can never imagine, only with 3.3-meter dinghy and some necessi!es, with his bravery and masculinity greater than ever. Based on his own unparalleled adventure, he published The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow, one of the most extraordinary travel literature. The book gained him a ‘best seller’ !tle and he successfully dis!nguished himself from many other

Maze and Life ‘Maze is the symbol of a life journey’, said Sandy, ‘because when you seem to get close to a goal or an end, the path turns out to be not that straigh6orward.’ When Sandy was s!ll a li&le boy, he already loved making puzzles for family members. Since then, puzzles have become an obsession with him. In his speech, Sandy told us the ‘spiral’ shape of a maze represents circularity and progression. However, Sandy insisted that life is not like a unicursal maze, as the paths within a maze comprise different things for us to experience throughout. Sandy con!nued to inspire us that life, to some extent, has a scarcity of resemblance with the unicursal maze. Alongside all the straight roads and forks it contains, many splendid gardens and gorgeous landscapes are always about to come into your sight when you empty your mind and take a leisure stroll in this very maze. So, learning to appreciate those ‘gardens’ would bring happiness to us.
The Philosophy of Happiness

The tradi!onal Catholic opinion when Sandy was young, however, advocated the opposite – ‘always take the hard road’; ‘pleasure means tempta!on and it will prevent you from seeking the true happiness of life’. However, According to Sandy’s experience and philosophy, the gardens that he applied to decorate the maze stand for the beauty and the pleasure you might encounter in your life journey. So, Sandy explores the maze in his own way. Without avoiding the actually ‘inevitable’ pleasure, Sandy instead has decided to visit every garden in his journey, appreciate all the fascina!ng landscapes along the way, and take no shortcut to reach the des!na!on. This is also the reason why he praises slow travel. He believes that to live one’s life in the most fulfilled way is to learn to enjoy every garden and, more importantly, share it with others. Having always been fancying about it, Sandy imagined the center of happiness, or the end of the maze, would be nothing more than a piece of lawn with a bench standing in the middle of it and a river streaming serenely on the side. As he described it in a hilarious way, he imagined that he would probably be

During the interview, we seemed to focus too much on the dangers and obstacles, like extreme weather, that he might encounter during the journeys. Surprisingly, Sandy offered an alterna!ve opinion to address this kind of issues. He said, ‘Every morning when you have breakfast with coffee and homedelivered newspaper to go, scanning all these headlines in different sec!ons, and all the overwhelmed reporters seem to have surrendered their digni!es to contrive disasters. For instance, dozens of innocent kids were gunshot callously on their way to school, or the unemployment rate keeps rising and there is no foreseeable culmina!on. The media is misleading us. The reality is that, it is not dangerous at all when you really step into it. Are you guys dangerous? No, I don’t think so. There are so many great people in the world!’ Then he added, believing that the world is dangerous is actually making a prison for oneself. Indeed, the sense of trust and feeling safe to people that he gained during the journey was greater than ever. All the uncondi!onal assistance afforded by the strangers and the blessings carved on the side of his dinghy that helped him went through all the despera!ons have strengthened his faith in the goodness of people.

WG 組織的澳門遊蹤帶我們去了
九澳、路氹歷史館、中華民族雕塑園和龍 環葡韻。其中，大家對九澳七苦聖母小堂 最感興趣，紛紛提了許多有關該堂作為澳 門較出名的痲瘋收容所等相關的問題。而 在參觀中華民族雕塑園之前，大家在大潭
五位書院同學代表（鄧佩欣、林凱欣、陳俊 成、湯嘉敏和張露），在書院導師 Sancia 的帶領下，參加了由香港大學主辦的《On the Way To HKU》的志願活動。此次志願活 動的主要服務對象為四至六年級有弱勢背景 的小學生，旨在培養他們對學習的興趣，激 勵他們努力成為大學生，並且成為服務社會 的領袖。 五位同學參加完這次活動之後，都覺得此次 活動很有意義。他們不僅了解學習了香港大 學的文化歷史，在和小朋友的相處過程中也 體會到和小朋友的相處需要足夠的耐心傾 聽；同時，也深刻感受到了香港是一個十分 全球化多元化的城市，不同背景，特別是弱 勢群體、少數族群的小朋友，需要這個社會 更多的注意與關懷。

《一站到底》 一站到底》常識問答比賽
由書院學生會 Communication WG 主辦的 《一站到底》常識問答比賽，雖然已經過 去近一個月，但其充滿趣味的遊戲環節和 機智的問答都還餘音繞梁。比賽共吸引七 隊同學參賽，問題涉及範圍廣泛，上到文 藝青年才能從容回答的五經四書之文化常 識，下到宅男宅女的專屬問題：日韓語、 網絡術語。整個活動不僅考驗了參賽者的 知識積累以及臨場應變能力，更在觀眾們 享受比賽精彩過程的同時，普及自身對各 方面常識，並促進同學間的互動交流。比 賽最終由肖堯率領的「逍遙隊」勝出，王 立康同學則成為本屆 EAC「站神」！

本次講座我們邀得澳大傳播系陳時鑫教授主講以邵氏兄弟為首的香港電影業在東 亞地區的發展與影響，陳教授首先談到邵氏家族史、邵氏電影製作的歷史（比如 語言和風格趨勢，及其旗艦電影的主要特徵）。接著便一起鑑賞被視為六十年代 極其重要的電影之一《梁山伯與祝英台》，此片當年在中港臺地區紅極一時，獲 第二屆金馬獎最佳劇情片獎、導演獎、女主角獎（樂蒂）及演員特別獎（凌波） 等殊榮，而邵氏兄弟公司更憑藉此類古裝題材的黃梅調電影進軍海外。

書院三月的 HTD 我們有幸邀請到澳門公職人員協會會員大會主席、中國葡語國家經貿合作論壇常設秘書處輔助辦公室主任姍桃斯作為演講嘉賓。 她用流利的普通話，出色的幽默感分享了她學習中文的經歷，主辦中國葡語國家經貿合作論壇的事蹟。她精彩的演講博得了同學們陣陣掌聲和笑 聲。她作為一個土生葡人，在澳門政府裡身居要職，肩負著中國與葡語國 家溝通的使命。她的成長經歷，恰好是澳門歷史的一個縮影。她在東亞大 學（澳門大學的前身）拿到 MBA 的學位，期間她還開玩笑說澳大的學位不 好拿，需要很多努力和付出。從
於 3 月 24 日順利舉行，是次活動也是在舊校區進行 的最後一屆，吸引了超過三百名學生、校友、教職 員及家屬報名。東亞書院學生積極參加了環校跑及 環校走的項目，郭澤騫和姜逸雪同學分別以 7 分 41 秒和 13 分 10 秒的佳績獲得男子學生組及女子學生 組前十的名次。由於書院院長、眾老師職員和同學 們的熱情參賽和積極表現，東亞書院作為團體以總 到場人數 55 人，獲得是次活動「踴躍參與團體 獎」。當日活動為「華夏綠洲助學行動」共籌得善

在一個熱情高漲的中午，九位熱心的同 學應澳門宣明會的邀請，在經過一系列 準備以及 briefing 後，在澳門八角亭附 近進行了為饑饉兒童籌集善款的賣旗活 動。經編者的親身經歷，舉著時刻增重 的零錢袋在大街上走動兩個多小時絕對 是一個體力活。不過也正是有路人們的 熱心捐款，我們一對志願者同學也才提 到手酸腳痛，而這些身體上的痛楚也在 日後的回憶中變得無比甘甜。就是通過 此次有意義的志願者活動，同學們不僅 體會到了志願者的辛勞，還從看似匆匆 的行人中體會到了點點關懷之暖。
