On the Cover

Rodrigo Aguilera "If you let your eyes stray over a palette of colors, you experience two things. In the first place you receive a purely physical effect, namely the eye itself is enchanted but the beauty and other qualities of color. You experience a satisfaction and delight, like a gourmet savoring a delicacy .... And so we come to the second result of looking at colors: their psychological effect. They produce a correspondent spiritual vibration.... Generally speaking, color directly influences the soul

Art Must Transcend

Nubia GalaSeibert is inspired by her

Art is a manifestation of the man, where we can see dominion, talent, technique with a high levels of mastery. Because the artist it self have been dedicated his live in order to know how to make something artistic, how to express it, how he says something and how he is trying to telling us something important. on what kind of dominion he has with painting, sounds to produce music, drawing or dancing. The first thing that we need to see in a work of art are those qualities, if you or some one else didn't see it, there fore the work of art is unable to communicate, do not moves you, do not makes you fell something special. Art must transcend. If you or some one else are in front of a work of art and this one is unable to overcome it's own historical moment, it means, right there in that moment expires in the art space, this is obsolete because it can not survive by it self with and with out the institution. A real work of art is out of it's own time, out of the art institution, that is why a work of art that was maid years ego, still alive, still communicating, keep moving us. This is what art makes with an esthetic work of art. The purpose of the art is to amplify the reality or give a new meaning to life, understand better life, but if the artist just take something literal and then exposure it, that is not art. Art gives visibility and presence to ideas, emotions, situations, that some times we can not manifest, think in art for it's own temporarily, give it meaning for the moment when this one was create it and then make of this moment the theme that brakes with the eternal line where the art lives. Art invents a language which is able to transcend the moment when this one was create it. The circumstance which gives the theme are only a condition which stays back in order to the theme that survive in it's own moment.

Miller Quevedo is a Colombian artist

Born in Villavicencio, Colombia. Miller Quevedo showed his ability and love in art since a very young age, came to Texas in 2015 with the mission of dedicating 100% to his artistic carrier. Since then thanks to his creativity he’s found various technics and styles to develop his art. He has been able to express his art in live events and private events, where his creativity has been spontaneous. Expressing through his artistic method and color, he sends a positive message while developing his live art. When elaborating art pieces, they have a connection with energy, hope and spirituality. Miller Quevedo, has been a very spiritual person. Always investigating and studying about Neurolinguistic Programing which focuses on communication, personal development and psychotherapy. He started to merge this knowledge and teachings with the art of painting. His paintings offer balancing visual elements symbolizing unity and harmony, making it visually appealing so as to absorb the mind as such a way that chattering thoughts cease, and more philosophic and good energy envelops the observer which leads to higher awareness. It lets the creative hemisphere of the mind run free while the analytical mind takes a nap.

My passion for art guided me to “play with colors and textures to express the meaning of my work, which goes from figurative to abstract, reflecting the nature, the day-to-day objects and the soul. Mixed media is the best way to define my art work because I enjoy to mingle textures, acrylic and oils. I was born and raised in Colombia. After traveling to the United States and establishing myself in Katy TX, I continued my work influenced by the diversity of landscapes and the new inspiring insights provided by nature discovered through my travels.

to Houston, as a Colombian consul. After finishing her job as a consul, she decided to make Houston her home and concentrate again in her art developing an original sculpture style.

With her experience in realism, Adriana began to explore abstract technics introducing a surrealism touch in her work. Utilizing wood fragments, animal bones and clay she begins to create sculptures that turned in an elegant interpretation of characters. These art pieces are then molten in bronze to obtain the final piece.

, is an exceptional painter hailing from Bogota, Colombia. She was born on October 28, 1996 and began to teach herself how to paint from an early age with only family photos to reference. As a teen she studied with the Oscus Cooperative; adorning her city with murals and other street art. After finishing secondary school she attended School of Arts and Letters where she began participating in local art and cultural events. Her art often focused on natural landscapes and was unique among its peers for its focus on color and their differing effects upon the spectator. In her 2013 exhibit Landscape Cromaticos she recreated iconic Colombian landscapes using a single color with varying tones. Thus solidifying her fascination with how we perceive color and its effect upon our bodies. In 2016 she travelled to Texas and has since been participating in individual and collective exhibitions alongside galleries such as Aurora Studios, Hardy and Nance Studios, Impulse Art, and Bilingual Houston Talent. In addition she has been active in events like Via Colori and Wetchalk.

Beatriz González: A Retrospective October 27, 2019–January 20, 2020 A Retrospective is the first large-scale U.S. exhibition dedicated to the work of Colombian artist Beatriz González. Based in Bogotá, González (born 1938) is not only an internationally celebrated artist but also one of the few living representatives of the “radical women” generation from Latin America. González’s groundbreaking production spans more than six decades of intensive research yet remains largely unfamiliar to audiences in the United States. One of the most comprehensive displays of the artist’s work to date, Beatriz González: A Retrospective seeks to remedy this lag by presenting more than 100 works, from the early 1960s through the present, that embody the full scope of González’s oeuvre.

The retrospective offers an expansive look at the artist’s unique and influential practice through her most iconic works, many of which have rarely been seen outside of Colombia. Selections range from two-dimensional paintings, drawings, silkscreen prints, and curtains, to threedimensional recycled furniture (beds, cribs, tables, armoires) and everyday objects (trays, TVs, cigar boxes). The works on view are culled from the artist’s personal collection as well as from public and private collections in Colombia, Europe, and the United States. Beatriz González: A Retrospective travels to the MFAH following the April 2019 premiere at the Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Silvia Pinto Souza My body of work

can be described as Contemporary Realism. I am visually stimulated by images with immense potential to become works of art through their rich color, strong contrast between light and shadow, geometrical and spatial composition, or textures. Acrylic is my favorite medium because it is water-based and gives me more freedom to stretch the properties of paint to the limits. The use of collage and texture is an important means of creating diverse surfaces on canvas which become the base of my paintings. My professional background starts with Architectural Draftsmanship, followed by an Arts diploma from the Byam Shaw School of Art and Design (now Central Saint Martins School of Art which is part of the University of the Arts London / UAL - in London, England), and a photo printing course at the Slade School of Art at University College London. While living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I worked with printing techniques at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Rio de Janeiro and the Parque Lage Art Center. For the last 25 years I have dedicated myself solely to painting. My works are displayed in private collections in various countries; they brighten and decorate homes, offices, and businesses with their rich vibrant colors and subtle textures. My artwork has also inspired fashion; some of my artistic themes have proven to be well suited for use in textiles and accessories.
