irst of all, kami atas nama kru AmerIndo Magazine ingin mengucapkan selamat untuk Diaspora Indonesia atas terselenggaranya acara Wonderful Indonesia di New Orleans pada tanggal 29 April lalu.

Tania Gunadi: Playful, Genuine and Fun

T

his is the Indonesian artist who often appears in several Hollywood production series. Her name is Tania Gunadi. Previously, she had never dreamed of living and building career in Hollywood, but an event in her life gave her a golden opportunity to go to America. While she was in high school in Indonesia, her sister entered Tania’s name into the Green Card Lottery, which is an opportunity that’s opened by the United States for foreign nationals. At that time, her sister was keen for Tania to attend school in America at low cost. And apparently she fared well. She won and finally, Tania managed to get the Green Card and moved to Los Angeles. Tania’s Hollywood career began when she was suggested by a friend to go to an open audition for a Disneyland commercial looking for a cheerful teenage figure, which is in accordance with Tania’s character and personality. She booked the job and enjoyed filming so much that she decided to be an actress. Her popularity has been increasingly recognized since she got her first series regular role for 35 episodes in Disney XD’s Aaron Stone. Tania played Emma Stone, a high school girl who had a double life as Dark Tamara, an expert in field of computers and world’s weapons specialist. From Aaron Stone, she continued her career on the Disney Channel in movies and TV series such as Even Stevens, Pixel Perfect, Go Figure, Imagination Movers and Girl Meets World. Other TV/Film credits of Tania include: Boston Public, MyMusic, Bob AmerIndo

6

Funk (in all 3, she asked the producers to change the original character from Vietnamese/Korean to Indonesian), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX), Snow Bride, the Magic of Ordinary Days (Hallmark Hall of Fame), Enlisted (FOX), Special Forces, Such Good People. She can also be seen in animated series such as Sofia the First, NIckelodeon’s Sanjay & Craig, Transformers Prime (nominated Best Female Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Supporting Role by BTVA), Penn Zero: PartTime Hero (2015-current) and DC Superhero Girls (2016-current). And now, she is preparing to launch her latest TV series Graves for Epix channel premiering Fall 2016, where she plays Summer, assistant to the former first lady of the US. Here are excerpts of AmerIndo interview with Tania Gunadi: AmerIndo (A): Howdy Tania? What are you busy today?

Tania (T): I am doing wonderful thank you! Right now I am recording ADR for Penn Zero, we have recorded 70 episodes so far and now polishing/preparing for the premiere of Season 2 later on this year. I am also focusing into training nowadays doing strength training program at DC Fitness with Brian Berumen who has been helping me get better, because some roles require me to be more fit and stronger and I want to be ready for them.

called DC SuperHero Girls. A: Mention your favorite movies? T: Top 5 are The Godfather, Matrix, Notting Hill, The Departed and Shawshank Redemption A: Name 3 things that you really like? T: Talking to my mom via Skype (since I only get to visit her once a year), playing games and snubadiving (a combination of Scuba and Snorkeling)

A: What entertainment career you like most? (Only acting or is there something else)? T: I definitely love the entertainment industry, especially acting and producing. I love acting because to me that is the best job since I can make money and have fun at the same time. And I enjoy producing (I have produced 3 small projects so far to give it a try) because I find it to be an exhilarating challenge in bringing everything together to make a film, from casting, crew, locations, craft to cameras, equipment and all the union paperwork required.

A: Name 3 things that you really do not like? T: Goat cheese, suntanning and people who are mean to their pets. A: Last but not least, please explain what kind of characters and challenges you have never played in a movie? T: Hmm, there are a lot of characters out there that I haven’t played such as a bad guy or a sick person, so, I am sure depending on what kind of bad guy or level of illness - those will probably require longer time to prepare and to be researched. And I admire those actors who play those difficult roles. Right now, most of my roles are lighthearted and fun and I enjoy doing them actually (laugh). (Text: Irina)

A: What do you like to do in your free time? T: I love playing with my 4 cats and taking naps with them. And when I am not being a crazy cat lady, I like to go biking from Venice to Santa Monica beach to the Palisades. A: What hobbies do you most like and why? T: It’s a weird hobby, but I love taking improv classes, like I just finished an 8- week musical improv at Second City with Michael Pollock, it was a blast! Another hobby is swimming, but I usually only do that when I go back to Bandung, because there are lots of awesome pools there and I get to hang out with my family and eat a lot of Nasi Timbel and Batagor by the pool (laugh).

hat statement in the title would’ve been like pulling teeth years ago, because of whatever reason I was ashamed of it. Growing up in Jakarta then moving to California I thought I had to choose between the two. Have Sate for dinner or a Burger?

cut. There was a lot of backlash from some family members because I went against the grain. It wasn’t the traditional lawyer, businesswoman or doctor career I was supposed to be pursuing.

It wasn’t until later in my adulthood that I finally realized, I could have my cake and eat it too. I mean, look at Gado-gado. It’s a bunch of veggies, eggs and random peanut sauce—a combination you›d think would be gross, but it’s AMAZING!

I listened to the only voice that matters (other than God’s) –my mom’s. She was cool with me going for my passion. My career of choice took me to some really interesting places: Lincoln, Nebraska. Chico, California and now Portland.

My mom and I visited Surabaya to see our family there and it opened my eyes to the fact that I can’t hide from my heritage. It’s a huge part of me and I should embrace it. MY CAREER, MY NEW EXPERIENCES As a local news reporter in Portland, Oregon, my goal is to serve the public. My career started when my mom took me to a local orphanage in Surabaya. We read a book to some kids in English. Simple stuff, but I loved spending time with the kiddos. It became a yearly thing.

“FINALLY, I CAN BE A VOICE FOR MY HERITAGE” In each city, other Indonesian people would message me on Facebook saying how neat it was to see an Indonesian name on TV screen. You know what, yes, yes it is! Because for once I feel like I can be a voice for my heritage or at least, to highlight unique aspects of it that not everyone knows about. Indonesia is more than Bali, you know.

That was “the ah-hah” moment. I wanted to be a storyteller because the kids and families I met throughout the years had compelling testimonies and it needed to be shared. The decision to be a communications major wasn’t a clean

I’m done rambling. All I wanted to say is a big THANK YOU to the Indonesian community for being so welcoming and loving. I am so proud to call Indonesia one of my homes. (Text: Mega/ Irina) 11

Keseruan Para Siswa TK Merayakan Hari Kartini

H

Natural Guyabano Leaf & Stem

10 Unforgettable Places for Honeymooning Around the World

A

you can go to a classical music orchestra performance and stay at a romantic medieval style hotel that can be easily found throughout the city.

merIndo is happy to present a list of the 10 most romantic cities in the world, where you can choose to spend the honeymoon time or celebrate that special anniversary with your loved one. If you and your partner have the time and money, we recommend you to visit one of the locations that we mention below. Visit and create moments that will never be forgotten. We will start with the 10th best and then finish with our number one recommendation.

#8. BALI (INDONESIA), A ROMANTIC ISLAND WITH SPECTACULAR SCENERY As an Indonesian, we should be so proud because Bali is always included in the list of the most popular international tourist destinations, especially for honeymooners. This romantic tourist spot offers a lot of things ranging from dazzling beautiful beaches to the exotic Southeast Asia nature around the island! It is alluring and very intriguing. Bali is a honeymoon destination that should be a must for every couple in Indonesia and around the world. If you do not have time to do this in your honeymoon, try to visit for other special moments in your life, such as a wedding anniversary. One will be surely amazed by the beauty of this island.

#10. LONDON (ENGLAND), A PLACE TO GET TO KNOW CULTURAL TOURISM London is the perfect honeymoon spot for couples who want to feel the beauty of European culture with the convenience of an English-speaking country. You can visit the city’s museums (especially Victoria & Albert Museum and the Tate Modern with a lot of historical relics), or you can watch the drama “Romeo and Juliet” at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. The theater performances are in the open space, so you can enjoy one of the most romantic love stories in the world under the expanse of stars accompanied by your loved ones. After that, the two of you can sit on a bench along the River Thames and enjoy the sound and beauty of the river being newlyweds.

#7. SAN FRANCISCO (USA), HONEYMOON IN THE METROPOLIS Honeymooning in San Francisco means enjoying the luxury lifestyle of one of the largest metropolitan places in the world. This location is suitable for those of you who like to be in a crowd, spend the afternoon enjoying a meal of oyster dishes at Fisherman’s Wharf or shopping for souvenirs at Union Street. Or one can go to Inspiration Point in the Presidio to watch a romantic view of San Francisco Bay when the sun goes down. You can also visit Muir Woods, a romantic forest that is located a little further out of town. A driving trip of Muir Woods and returning to San Francisco will give you the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views off of the Golden Gate Bridge.

#9. VIENNA (AUSTRIA), CLASSICAL MUSIC AND THE BEAUTY OF THE CITY IN A FAIRY TALE SETTING Vienna is the perfect city to do a romantic walk. The main streets are connected in the form of a ring, and there are lots of small shops and cafes that you can see and visit along the way. Your journey will always be accompanied by street musicians who play a variety of classical instruments such as violin, guitar, and more. The buildings in the city have a classic style that really makes you feel like your trip is a fairyland fantasy. Do not forget to try the traditional foods, Wiener schnitzels are a popular food that are made from thin slices of veal breaded then deep fried. To close the day, AmerIndo

honeymooning in Honolulu, you will find a lively nightlife and delicious restaurants that you’d expect from any major city. One can spend the afternoon with shopping for clothes, souvenirs, and jewelry, then stop and enjoy the beauty of Waikiki Beach. For couples who like adventure, we encourage the lovers to try to climb the summit of Diamond Head, a volcanic crater that is very large and beautiful.

such as Times Square you can visit. If you want to shop, you can explore the shops along the street of Soho or just relax in the skyscrapers in Bryant Park. Also try to make the trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn. You can stop at Grimaldi to enjoy the delights of the famous pizza then enjoy the stunning city views from the balcony of the hotel where you can both stay.

#5. BARCELONA (SPAIN), A CITY FILLED WITH BEAUTIFUL OLD BUILDINGS Even if you do not really understand architecture, you will be amazed to see the surreal designs of Antoni Gaudi historic one of a kind old buildings. They can be found throughout Barcelona. One of the most remarkable examples is the Basilica Sagrada Familia made by Gaudi for more than 40 years he worked on the structure. Wander around the cool shops and cafes in Las Ramblas, one of the most famous streets in Barcelona, and try also to go to a flamenco dance show (one of the most famous is Tablao Flamenco Cordobes) and then practice some beautiful dance moves with your partner.

#2. PARIS (FRANCE), THE MOST ROMANTIC CITY FOR HONEYMOONERS Paris is often called the “City of Lights” and is said to be the most romantic place in the world. In this city, one can enjoy a cafe au lait drink or go to a bistro located in the small streets, go window shopping along the Champs Elysees, and visit the Basilica Sacre-Coeur to enjoy the view of the city. Of course, you will have to visit the Eiffel Tower, a place that became an icon of compassion in the world. Honeymooning in Paris also means enjoying the culture and art of Europe in Centre Pompidou and watching a variety of classical works in the Louvre museum. In the morning, you can stroll along the Seine (the river that cuts Paris) and admire the beautiful scenery along the left and right edges of the river. Try to relax on the Pont Neuf (the oldest bridge in Paris) and end your night by visiting one of the famous Jazz clubs in Paris.

#4. ROMA (ITALY), ROMANTIC CITY OF THE RENAISSANCE You can spend a day-to-day honeymoon to admire the magnificent monuments like the Colosseum and St. Peter’s Basilica. The atmosphere in Florence really makes one feel like you are in the age of “Renaissance”, where you will be surrounded by the works of the great artists such as Michelangelo and Botticelli, when the art of Europe was at its height. You can also visit some of the famous fountains in the city at night. If the Trevi Fountain is too crowded, you can go to Piazza Navona to visit a fountain that supposedly can fulfill your expectations if you throw a coin into it!

#1. VENICE (ITALY), THE “MAGIC OF LOVE” CITY Spending time in a gondola along the city of Venice while conversing with your lover, is a very romantic moment. Indeed, this city is an ideal place for honeymooners. Most of the city is under water which makes one have to ride the gondola to roam from one place to another. Do not miss the main tourist spots that characterizes this city, such as Piazza San Marco, the Town Square and Ponte dell ‘Accademia (a very beautiful bridge on the Grand Canal).

Anniesa Hasibuan, Menembus New York Lewat Muslim Couture Fashion

B

New York?”

VOA: “Lalu kenapa Anda memilih Couture Fashion?”

VOA: “Bagaimana tanggapan industri fashion New York herhadap karya Anda?” Anniesa: “Pertama kali aku show di Couture Fashion Week di New York, tanggapannya luar biasa.

VOA: “Mengapa tidak ikut ready to wear fashion?”

VOA: “Ada rencana buka butik di New York?”.

GOOD LOOKING

Vintage Make-up (Now and Then) YEAR OF 1930S:

THEN: Overdrawn Lips Long before the overdrawn lip trend of 2015, Hollywood starlets like Marlene Dietrich were going outside their normal lip line to create the illusion of a fuller, curvier pout.

YEAR OF 1940S:

THEN: Orange-Red Lipstick Orange shades weren’t just big in the rouge department they also looked stunning on lips, shown here on actress Maureen O’Hara. AmerIndo

Are Back!

NOW: Overdrawn Lips In the past couple of years, overdrawing has exploded in popularity once again. Everyone from actresses to singers to models to normal folks had been strategically overdoing it on the liner to make their lips look a little bigger, no injections required.

(Part 1)

THEN: Heavily Penciled Brows The rail-thin brows of the ‘20s didn’t stand a chance when stars like Billie Holiday started popularizing this much heavier, defined look that saw no gradient or blending.

THEN: Matte Skin Pressed powder erased shine, giving skin a perfected matte appearance, as shown in portraits of starlets like Gene Tierney.

NOW: Orange-Red Lipstick An orange red lipstick paired with glowing skin and simple eye makeup is as pretty now as it was in the ‘40s. 22

NOW: Heavily Penciled Brows To try this trend, fill your brows in using a darker-thannormal brow pencil, but keep things modern by following your natural brow shape. If your brows are arched, maintain that arch; if your brow has a curve, follow it.

NOW: Matte Skin Matte skin is still highly soughtafter, but with a focus on looking radiant, never flat. Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize so that any mattifying powder will look smooth and flawless, not cakey and dry.

YEAR OF 1950S:

THEN: Enhanced Beauty Marks Marilyn certainly isn’t the only celeb in history to rock a serious beauty mark but she’s easily the most famous from Hollywood’s Golden Age.

NOW: Enhanced Beauty Marks Adding a little “enhancement” to your natural beauty mark or just creating a new one all together, like Dita Von Teese did is still a popular way to give your look a little extra glamour.

THEN: Purple Lipstick A sexy grape-colored lip à la Natalie Wood’s worked wonders for making skin look doll-like and subtly radiant.

NOW: Purple Lipstick Purple lipstick is still IN. The only difference is that these days we see stars pair it with purple hair, too.

THEN: Long False Eyelashes Sixties supermodel Twiggy was known for her gaze. And the look wouldn’t have been complete without her trademark long, false lashes.

NOW: Long False Eyelashes Don’t like liner or mascara? Try these as an easy substitute. Fake lashes define your eyes in one easy step (no clumps, no smudges). (Text: Irina/Photo sources: gettyimages/GH)

YEAR OF 1960S:

THEN: Cut Crease Eyeshadow The name for this eye makeup style might be unfamiliar, but you’ve surely seen it a lot. In the 1960s, the most famous wearer was actress Diahann Carroll, who kept her eyes smoky and the rest of her style subtle.

NOW: Cut Crease Eyeshadow Always mixing the modern with the vintage, Jennifer Lopez combines this sexy look with shimmery shades that make her brown eyes sparkle. 23

LIFE & STYLE

Ingin Hemat Uang Belanja, Ikuti 19 Tips Ini!

L

rinci (mereka bahkan memiliki versi vegetarian).

9. Cek sisa bahan makanan di dapur. Coba cek sisa bahan makanan di dapur sebelum Anda merencanakan menu makanan selama satu minggu dan membuat daftar belanjaan. Gunakan sisa bahan makanan yang Anda miliki (lihat tanggal kadaluarsa) sehingga Anda tinggal membeli bahan tambahannya saja. Lebih hemat bukan?

16. Minimalkan frekuensi berbelanja.

DRINK A COLD GLASS OF WATER WITH FRESHLY SQUEEZED LEMON IN IT EVERY MORNING It hydrates the body, gives you a dose of vitamin C, boosts the immune system, and has fat-burning benefits. 30. PREP SMOOTHIE PACKS FOR THE WEEK Load all measured solid ingredients into zip-top bags, starting with hard heavy ingredients, followed by leafy greens, and finally soft foods. Write the liquid you’ll need to add on the front of each bag and freeze until you’re ready to blend. 31. MAKE SMOOTHIE CLEANUP EASIER After you’ve finished pouring in your drink, fill the pitcher halfway with warm water and a drop of dish soap. Set the blender on high and blend for about 30 seconds. After that’s done, rinse and airdry it. Voila, a sparkling, clean blender! 32. 34. PUSH YOUR PRESSURE POINTS The acupressure spots on the head, face, and hands are very close to bundles of nerves, so pressing on them can help relax the nervous system. For example, apply pressure to the meaty part of your hand between the thumb and forefinger anytime you’re stressed. 35. DO 100 PUSH-UPS EVERY DAY It sounds like a lot, but Jim Sears, MD, says you can break it up into 20 reps 5 times a day. If you’re not used to pushups, do them on your knees, or start with 2, 3, or 5 and add one each week. 36. DO DEEP BREATHING FOR 2 MINUTES Inhale for 4 counts while saying “I am” in your mind. Then exhale for 4 counts while saying “at peace” to yourself. Repeat the cycle at least 4 times to ground yourself.

37. BULK UP ON B12 Low blood levels of B12 can lead to depression. But there’s good news: it works the other way around, too. In one study, depressed people on antidepressants felt much better after taking B12 supplements for just 3 months.

41. EXFOLIATE NIGHTLY THEN APPLY RETINOL OR COCONUT OIL Exfoliating allows the next product you apply on your skin to penetrate deeply while alternating the powerful anti-ager retinol with natural coconut oil is like a one-two punch for the skin. 42. TRY HAND AND FOOT THERAPY BALLS When you use a foam roller, they can relieve soreness, pain, and increase circulation in your hardest to reach places.

38. WAKE UP TIRED EYES WITH CHAMOMILE TEA Steep two bags in hot water for 5 minutes, then let it chill for a few minutes. Once tepid, close your eyes and place one bag over each eye (you’ll want to cover both upper and lower lids) for 10 minutes. Chamomile’s antiinflammatory qualities will soothe the sensitive skin around your eyes for a brighter, tighter look. 39. SIP SOME GREEN TEA BEFORE YOU WALK The caffeine found in green tea frees fatty acids in your body so that you burn fat more easily while its antioxidants work with the caffeine to increase the calories you burn. 40. LAYER BEAUTY PRODUCTS FOR RADIANT SKIN Never struggle to choose between two creams again: Apply lighter products like water-based serums first, followed by any oils or lotions, and finish with sunscreen, waiting a couple minutes between each step.

43. SPIKE YOUR BREAKFAST WITH CINNAMON The spice has been shown to reduce insulin resistance and may help lower cholesterol and triglycerides, blood fats that could contribute to the risk of diabetes. 45. USE CLEAN FOOD AS A FLAVOR BOOSTER Research shows that certain spices, herbs, and spreads not only boost flavor but can also help curb appetite, ease digestion, promote better memory, and even fight heart disease and cancer.

47. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME Research shows volunteering regularly can lower your risk for death by up to 24%. All that usefulness and altruism might cause your brain to produce more oxytocin and progesterone—good-vibe chemicals that curb stress and reduce harmful inflammation. 48. SWITCH THE CHANNELS ON THE TV without the remote You can easily burn up to 200 extra calories a day if you stop using the remote, garage door opener, electric can opener, and other labor-saving devices. 49. END YOUR DAY WITH A GUIDED MEDITATION Search YouTube and select whatever guided meditation you need that day: relaxation, love, or health. You’ll wake up happy and go to sleep with a quiet mind and calm stomach. 50. TURN OFF YOUR DEVICES LONG BEFORE GOING TO BED These devices emit light in the blue spectrum, which disrupts sleep.

Mother’s Day Traditions in Several Countries every year, the 10th of May. It’s a colorful and effervescent affair celebrated with loud church masses and bright local parties and parades. Mothers are usually given an early morning meal of Tamales Atole, prepared by their children.

other’s Day is a modern celebration honoring mothers around the world, as well as commemorating motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

MOTHER’S DAY IN AUSTRALIA Though Mother’s Day in Australia falls on the same day there as it does in the U.S., it’s usually commemorated with the tradition of wearing a carnation. A colored carnation signifies that a person’s mother is living while a white carnation is used to honor a deceased mother. Grandmothers, aunts, and other maternal figures are also honored on this day with flowers, special family meals, and gifts of gratitude.

MOTHER’S DAY IN CANADA In Canada, cards and flowers are the most commonly used methods of expressing love for moms. Mother’s Day is the most popular festival after Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Just as in the US, Mother’s Day in Canada is celebrated in the second Sunday in the month of May. As Mother’s Day is a festival with strong emotional value, it has been commercialized to a large extent with compelling advertising strategies in the technologically advanced country of Canada.

MOTHER’S DAY IN SOUTH AFRICA South Africans celebrate their mothers on the second Sunday of May, much like in the U.S. (though it used to be celebrated on the fourth Sunday of May like the U.K. of which it is a former colony). The holiday is generally celebrated with a focus on homemade gifts and cards, particularly by younger children, while older ones usually prepare a meal for their mothers and sometimes buy small gifts. In South Africa, Mother’s Day is taken as an opportunity to thank not just mothers, but also grandmothers and other mother-like figures.

MOTHER’S DAY IN FRANCE In France, Mother’s Day is reserved for the last Sunday in May and is generally celebrated as a treasured family holiday with an intimate sit-down dinner featuring Mom as the guest of honor. Mothers are usually presented with a special flower bouquet cake. It is exactly what it sounds like: a cake that looks like a bouquet of flowers. MOTHER’S DAY IN INDIA Mother’s Day is a fairly new tradition in India but has been gaining popularity fast. The capital of New Delhi has, by far, the biggest celebration in the country; companies launch a range of special products aimed at the female market while restaurants tempt families with various Mother’s Day specials on the menu.

MOTHER’S DAY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM The British honor their mothers on the fourth Sunday of May. The first Mother’s Day celebrated was sometime in the 1600s on “Mothering Sunday” which has since become known simply as Mother’s Day. It’s usually celebrated with a family lunch where moms are presented with a rich almond cake (often called a “Mothering Cake” or “Simnel Cake”).

MOTHER’S DAY IN USA Celebrated on the second Sunday of May, the holiday was kick-started by Anna Jarvis in 1908 as a day to honor the death of her loving mother. Officially signed in as a holiday in 1914 (so Mother’s Day is now officially 102 years old in the U.S.), it is now a national holiday celebrated with much enthusiasm. Americans celebrate their mothers and thank them for their love and contributions with gifts, cards, and shared meals. Interestingly, Mother’s Day in the U.S. has been often criticized as being too commercial. It is considered as the biggest commercial holiday after Christmas and Valentine’s Day. MOTHER’S DAY IN SPAIN The Spanish actually don’t celebrate Mother’s Day in May at all. Mother’s Day is instead commemorated on December 8th. It generally coincides with several religious holidays, especially one that honors one of the most iconic moderncivilization mothers to this day: the Virgin Mary. The holiday is celebrated with events around the country including parades and church masses.

Facts about Mother’s Day:

$10.9 Million. For someone who had accumulated so much it seems that the biggest benefactor of Prince’s death may be our U.S. government, and not his family members. The amount the government may receive can be as much as 40% to 50% of his total estate after the exemption.

usic Icon Prince never expected to die suddenly. Friends and family also never expected his death. His shocking death surprised us all with how one’s life can be cut short. At this point in time it is still not determined with certainty the cause of Prince’s untimely death but one important fact may have surfaced. The fact is a good reminder of how precious life is and the further fact that we never know when our last day on earth will be.

Jane Wibowo and Associate

Keeping that fact in mind, everyone should always prepare a will (for estates with a net worth of $150,000 or less), or better still a living trust. It is to a person’s great satisfaction and the family they leave behind or an organization close to one’s heart that this be completed while a person is alive. Prince’s estate is said to be worth an estimated $300 Million or more. What is undetermined is his property values, his music royalty rights, investments, and business. After many famous artist pass away, their estate’s have been known to double or even triple. To the dismay of many, his life’s work could have benefited charitable organizations, close family or friends if he only prepared properly. Now it looks like a judge will be involved it will be litigated in probate and the closest members of his family will divide up what is left of his estate and according to many sources it may take years to complete this task.

Prince blazed a trail with his unique sounds and music the likes that we might not see again in our lives. He played 14 instruments and wrote countless top hits for himself and other artist. He was a silent philanthropist with his fortune but yet despite the fame and riches he still left many important decisions in his life unfinished. Prince was married two times and had a son who died shortly after birth. He no longer had a family of his own and was for the most part a single person with only one full sister and five halfsiblings. He may have thought he could overcome his illness or believed in a healing from God. Many did not know that he was a Jehovah Witness and attended a congregation nearby and even walked door to door sharing the message of Jehovah’s Witness. He was a very private person and had few people in his inner circle.

A living trust spells out a person’s last wishes. It can be very specific and detail and leaves a person’s affairs in order. This helps tremendously because there is no more guess work. The trust documents give clear direction and follows the wishes of the deceased.

The Reality of life is that it is unpredictable. Prince did not plan on dying so early in life and most people don’t, but we do die, it is only a matter of when. Had Prince known ahead of time that he would die at such a young age, I am sure he would have been planned ahead. Bagaimana Mencari Sekolah Berkualitas untuk Anak

I

MY CAREER

Are You Ready to Change Careers to One in the Future?

A

3. DNA COUNSELOR The coding of DNA could mean standard diagnostic doctors such as General Practitioners are no longer needed. Every person and their health authority will have access to their genetic makeup. You will be able to find out if you are going to have children with genetic defects, if you are genetically predisposed to obesity, diabetes and whole host of other conditions. A counselor will need to teach people how to adapt to and cope with their future.

dvances in science, medicines, and technology are not stopping. Innovations will only accelerate. These changes will make more opportunities available but in totally different careers! So let’s take a look for the future:

1. ORGAN FARMER Scientists can already grow some body parts using animals. But in the near future growing new human body parts will be commonplace. Imagine rows and rows of kidneys growing in a sterile environment. Someone will need to control the growth and harvesting of such a precious organ. Science backgrounds will be important for roles in this area.

4. DEATH COACH In the future, genetic screeners will likely be able to predict our approximate time of death based on our genes. A specialized version of DNA counselors will be dealing with people to help them come to grips with their mortality years. That requires a whole new level of mental therapy.

2. PRINTER TECHNICIAN Don’t think about standard photocopier technician. We are talking three dimensional print shops where car parts are being printed (really manufactured), for cars. It was only earlier this year that a 3D printer was used to make a gun. Look forward a few years, it may even be feasible to print a whole house! Someone with a highly technical background will be needed to run this. These jobs may even spark a greater focus on manual labour in the United Kingdom, ironically an almost lost trade. AmerIndo

5. ALTERNATIVE REALITY ARCHITECT Widespread use of wearable technology, like Google Glass, is almost upon us. It won’t be long before un-augmented reality is boring. We’ll need people to research, write and design the virtual augmentations that will soon be all over our landscape. 40

6. LAWYERS SPECIALIZING IN VIRTUAL PROPERTY ISSUES How many people don’t discuss treatment of their social media properties in their last will and testament? And what about ardent devotees of multiplayer role-playing games? Regular players of World of Warcraft, Second Life and Eve Online accumulate virtual property and characters worth real money in the outside world. Theft, hacking, fraud and other forms of virtual foul play have already started to show up into courts – how long until these suits become mainstream, and speciality lawyers are in demand? It’s probably less than 5 years.

18-wheelers and even pizza delivery cars could all be piloted from central locations.

LOVE LIFE with your favorite toppings, a tower of blocks. Perhaps you will find a chuckle over the odd or weird combinations that reflect your different approaches to food, building, and life.

For Married Couples, Choosing your Weekly (Cheap) Dating Ideas

PLAN A “FAVORITES NIGHT” AROUND YOUR FAVORITE FOOD, CLOTHES, GAMES, SPORTS, ETC. Each spouse could choose a favorite activity which you then combine into one evening, or the wife could propose her favorite activities for one date and the husband plans the next date with his favorites. RIDE A CITY BUS FOR THE WHOLE ROUTE. Reflect on the sights you see and the lives of the people who are your fellow passengers. Debrief your insights afterwards.

A

VISIT A PET STORE TOGETHER. This is usually good for stirring up warm fuzzy feelings. Restrain yourself from buying, however, unless you’re really ready for a new family member. Talk about any pets you had as a child.

lthough having a weekly date may seem like a nobrainer, many couples’ good intentions quickly get put off due to some time constraint, or there’s no more money. Make a commitment to a weekly date. It doesn’t have to always be on the same night, but it’s helpful to pencil in one night each week on your calendars; you can always change the night if a conflict comes up.

EVER GONE MIDNIGHT BOWLING? It’s more than just bowling. Some places have special music, lighting, and gimmicks. Even without these, it can be a ball of fun if you don’t take it too seriously.

Below are a few ideas that go beyond the usual dinner and a movie. Many involve little or no cost. Not all dates have to involve going out, but if you have young children, getting a break from the kids is a stress release in itself.

LOOK THROUGH OLD PHOTO ALBUMS and tell each other stories of your childhood and families. If you feel really energetic, make the time to put all those loose photos in albums or on a disc. It’s a big job but your children will appreciate it one day.

Cheap Dates GO TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK OR ARCADE. It doesn’t have to be one of those fancy, expensive parks. Go without the kids and BE Kids again. Do those silly arcade games. Impress your spouse with your strength or laugh at your ineptitude. PLAY A GAME FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD – croquet, badminton, hide and seek, miniature golf. Reminisce and be playful together.

HANG OUT AT A BOOKSTORE. Browse through your favorite sections. Many bookstores have cozy reading spots or a cafés connected with them.

PRETEND-YOU’RE-A-TOURIST DATE. Look around your city and do the things a tourist might do – go to an overlook, a quaint neighborhood, the botanical gardens, a museum, whatever is special about your hometown.

DO SOMETHING TO NURTURE YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE. Go to a church service, spend an hour in silence, pray the Way of the Cross in a church or walk in a poor neighborhood.

BUILD SOMETHING TOGETHER – ice cream sundaes, a pizza AmerIndo

42

TAKE AN EARLY MORNING OR EVENING BIKE RIDE TOGETHER. Explore your neighborhood or the countryside. Stop at a quaint café for breakfast or get an ice cream cone or other treat along the way. In fact, stop whenever you feel the urge. It’s not a race, just a time to discover together.

VISIT YOUR LOCAL ZOO. Spring is often an especially engaging time since you likely to see some endearing zoo babies and glorious flowers. TRY A THEME DATE LIKE ONE AROUND “QUARTERS.” Think of all the things you can do that use quarters like play a juke box, wash the car, take your picture together at a photo booth, play video games at an arcade.

IF TENT CAMPING IS A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR YOU, TRY IT, you might like it. Borrow a tent, sleeping bags, and some advice from a veteran camper and spend a night in the woods or at least a backyard. Snuggle, tell ghost stories, and roast marshmallows.

VOLUNTEER SOMEWHERE TOGETHER, like a nursing home, a soup kitchen, clean up litter from a park or along your street.

At Home Dates

Outdoorsy Dates

CURL UP FOR AN EVENING OF READING. Find a book you both enjoy and take turns reading to each other, or each of you can read your own book in each other’s company. For fun, you might want to randomly read a sentence from each of your respective books and see what bizarre combinations this makes.

WATER AND MOONLIGHT CAN BE ROMANTIC. Is there a lake, a river, a fountain near your home? Take a walk along a body of water at night. Pause and gaze at the light shimmering on the water. Dream and imagine together. Try star gazing in your own back yard or out in the country. Just bring a blanket and gaze upwards together. If you’re the scientific type, you might get a star map and try to identify constellations.

Another worthwhile activity can be each spouse privately CREATES A FUNNY COSTUME from what you have around the house. (No need to buy anything just use pots, paraphernalia, jewelry, and even go through your spouse’s clothes to put items together in weird or scary ways) then come together and reveal yourselves. DURING THE DARK OF WINTER, MAKE SOME LIGHT TOGETHER. Build a fire in the fireplace. Don’t have a fireplace? Light a whole bunch of candles in a grouping. Lay out a blanket and have an indoor picnic or at least some popcorn.

DO SOMETHING SILLY THAT REMINDS YOU OF YOUR CHILDHOOD. Climb a tree together, catch lightning bugs, or feed some ducks.

RENT A CLASSIC ROMANTIC MOVIE like Casablanca, Sense and Sensibility, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Notting Hill, etc.

TRY AN OLD FASHIONED PICNIC IN A SECLUDED SPOT. Lay out a table cloth, bring some snacks or a meal. Some wine might also be a nice touch. Perhaps read some romantic poetry to each other. It need not be original, just something you took the effort to find.

COMMIT TO A “TECH FREE” NIGHT. Turn off your cell phones, computer, the TV, and the lights. Use your imagination to see what’s left to do without electricity. (Text: Irina/George, various sources) 43

DEVOTIONS

Cintailah Mamamu! Hatinya galau menunggu kedatangan ibunya. Dari jauh si anak melihat ibunya berjalan perlahan sambil membawa rantang makanan.

T

Pikirkanlah mamamu! Cintailah mamamu dengan konkret! Berbuatlah hal-hal yang baik dan indah untuknya!
