There are some world-class visitor attractions in Perth – and we’ve selected just a small sample of what’s on offer! Whether you want to see the iconic Black Watch Museum or watch the sport of kings at Perth Racecourse, there’s certainly plenty to do. All of the attractions are just a short drive from the city

centre making it the perfect hub! Each attraction has its own unique points that make it an unforgettable experience for all! There’s plenty to do to make a day of it as well – and we’ve suggested some things to do nearby to each of the attractions. From Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire to Loch Leven near Kinross, there’s no shortage of things to do!


Blair Atholl Castle Home to the Atholl family for over 700 years, Blair Atholl Castle has a rich and diverse history witnessing both turbulent and peaceful times in Highland Perthshire. With guided and self-guided tours, the stunning Hercules Garden and castle grounds, kids’ activities, pony trekking and more, there’s plenty of exploring to do at this iconic attraction near Pitlochry. Open: April to October, 9.30am 5.30pm, 7 days. Location: Pitlochry, 34 miles from Perth City Centre Cost: £12 (concessions available) While You’re Here: Head into nearby Pitlochry and enjoy some of the local food and drink!


Loch Leven Castle As Mary Queen of Scots’ famous island prison, Loch Leven Castle holds enormous historical significance to the people of Scotland. Situated on the middle of an island in the loch itself, you will follow in Mary’s steps, with a short boat ride to the turret where she awaited her fate. Explore the island and castle at your leisure. Open: 1st April to 31st October Location: KY13 8UF, Loch Leven, 18 miles from the city centre. Cost: £7.50 for adults While you’re there: Go for a walk along the Loch Leven Heritage Trail or visit the Loch Leven Nature Reserve.


Black Watch Castle & Museum Housed within the historic Balhousie Castle, The Black Watch Castle and Museum is a five-star visitor attraction close to Perth City Centre. A visit to the ancestral home of the Black Watch brings the history of Scotland’s oldest Highland Regiment to life. Pop into the Castle Gift Shop for a unique shopping experience, or try the delicious seasonal menu in the on-site Café. Open: Apr - Oct, 9.30am - 4.30pm Nov - Mar, 10am - 4pm Location: Perth City Centre. Cost: Tours are £12.50, normal entry is £8 (concessions available) While You’re Here: Take a stroll around the North Inch, or visit the Perth Museum and Art Gallery.


Perth Racecourse Scone Palace is one of Scotland’s most popular and iconic visitor attractions offering an array of unique, historic and cultural experiences. Enjoy a tour of the palace, explore the stunning grounds and famed arboretum, and remember to stop for a scone and tea in the cafe. You will also find regular events, garden tours and child friendly activities.

Open: 1st April to 31st October Location: PH2 6BD, Scone, 2miles from Perth City Centre. Cost: Adults £11.50 While You’re Here: The Murray Royal Walled Garden is a short distance from Scone Palace, as is Kinnoull Hill.


Pitlochry Dam As famed for their stunning views as they are for their intriguing insight into hydro-electricity, Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre is a unique day out. As well as boasting a number of fascinating exhibitions on the workings of the dam itself, you will also discover life on the Fish Ladder – where thousands of people flock to see the salmon swim Open: Open 7 days from 9:30am to 5:30pm Location: PH16 5AP, Pitlochry, 26 miles from Perth City Centre.
