South Inch, Perth This annual charity bonfire and fireworks night is organised by volunteers from Perth Strathearn Round Table for the local community. The bonfire is lit from 7.00 pm, with local bands on stage to entertain the crowds, as well as the spectacle of the fireworks themselves. The event is free to attend, but all donations are welcome to raise funds for charity. Christmas Lights Switch-On Chocolate and Gin Festival • Perth’s Festive Feast Perth Christmas Lights Switch-On Saturday 17 November 2018

12.00 noon - Entertainments start 2.00 pm until late - Main Stage 5.30 pm - Christmas Parade starts from Thimblerow 6.15 pm - Christmas Lights SwitchOn and Fireworks, Tay Street With headline performances from Pixie Lott and James Arthur, Perth is preparing to welcome the Christmas party season in style at the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On event. There’s something for everyone with live music on the Year of Young People Stage on King Edward Street, lots of family fun on the Mill Street Children’s Stage, and the switch-on itself on the Tay Street main stage where presenter Stephen Mulhern will be entertaining the crowds as our top host for the day.

You can also enjoy tasty treats and street food, free live entertainment throughout the day - including the future of entertainment with Titan the Robot.

Christmas Parade

Led by Santa, the Christmas Parade starts from Thimblerow at 5.30 pm before finishing in South Street at Speygate.

The Lights Switch-On and Fireworks

At 6.15 pm the lights will be switched on by the Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis Melloy, who will be joined on stage by a host of special guests.

Lantern Festival • St Andrew’s Day Nativity • Hogmanay Perth Lantern Parade and Nativity Scene Saturday 1 December From 4.30 pm

Perth City Centre A lantern parade involving school pupils, churches and community groups. There will be daytime workshops to make your own lantern, before you participate in this parade through the city centre. Carol singing at St Ninian’s Cathedral from 4.30 pm. The Nativity Scene will be illuminated at 4.50 pm. The parade starts at 5.00 pm from St Ninian’s Cathedral, finishing outside St John’s Kirk, where the St John’s Nativity Scene will be illuminated. The celebration continues with carols accompanied by Perthshire Brass. Ticket prices: FREE. No booking required.

Perth City Centre Santa Claus is most definitely coming to town this December, when hundreds of costumed runners will once again travel to Perth for the annual Perth Santa Run. This is a jolly 5k family fun run taking runners through the streets of the city centre, across the River Tay and back on to the North Inch. All runners will receive a full Santa outfit to run in, and keep for their own, as well as a finisher’s medal (which can double up as a Christmas decoration), mince pies and more. And, if you keep your Santa outfit on as you shop, you may receive a special gift or discount from city centre businesses.

Comrie Celebrate the coming of the New Year in impressive fashion at the traditional Comrie Flambeaux parade. Flambeaux torches are paraded around the village preceded by a pipe band, and followed by a fancy dress parade. The torches are then cast into the River Earn. Ticket prices: FREE. Perth ‘Robert Burns’ Celebration

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January, Perth will celebrate the contribution Robert Burns has made to Scottish culture, with live entertainment and fun with a Scottish twist as part of the Riverside Light Nights. On Saturday 26 there will also be a themed parade starting in Perth city centre, and heading over the bridge to bring participants to NorieMiller Park.

Perthshire Chinese New Year
