Welcome to Perth City’s first Taste of Perthshire Festival I am delighted to be welcoming you to Perth City for a weekend brimming with flavour and culinary excitement. Of course, Perthshire has long since been renowned as Scotland’s larder and our rich agricultural ground and abundance of creative, artisan producers have ensured this title is well deserved. In recent years, we have built on this strong foundation and have become the go-to city for some of Scotland’s finest chefs, mixologists and culinary teachers. A bold call to make I know, but it was echoed earlier this year when Perth was named Scotland’s Food Town 2018 at the Scottish Food Awards.

I was privileged to be part of the group which collected this award, and to have represented the many fantastic food and drink businesses in our area. This weekend, they have all come together in a celebration of this success and I know you will find a few new foodie favourites from our list. Book dinner, catch a demo, wander round the market or stop for a wee dram. It is all there to be savoured! I’ll see you there, Pete Wishart MP for Perth and Kinross
