Dates and times of the journeys are dependent on the levels of the river which are tidal and change on a daily basis. On the day of your trip, please make sure you arrive in plenty of time as the boats keep to a tight schedule. Check the weather and dress appropriately, ie warm clothing (conditions on the water can be wet and windy). Life jackets are provided. Please note times may be subject to change - please check the website for the most up-to-date information: Perthcity.co.uk

Pack a picnic and enjoy our evening river trips. Fergusson Pontoon - Elcho Castle (Maximum 8 Passengers) Adult £15.00 Concession £12.00 Children £8.00 (Under 3s free)

Set sail from the Fergusson Pontoon along the River Tay to catch a glimpse of Elcho Castle. The castle is a 16th century fortified mansion that was once the country retreat of the Wemyss family. It is now in the care of Historic Scotland. On the way you will have a unique view of Kinnoull Hill, Moredun Hill, Kinfauns Castle, the crossing point of the Coronation Road and the amazing wildlife that makes its home in and around the river (otters and ospreys are regular visitors to the Tay). The Coronation Road is a very old carriage road. One theory as to why it is called the Coronation Road is because the Earl (or Mormaer as they were then known) of Fife had the hereditary responsibility of Crowning the King and so would have had to travel to Scone. If this is the case then the road must date to the very early Medieval Period as the Stone of Destiny was taken to London by Edward I.

Another theory is that it was used by the Scottish Royal Family to travel between the Royal Palaces at Scone and Falkland. If this is the case then it would have been in use quite a bit later as Falkland was not a particularly favoured Royal residence until James III in the 15th century. The travellers may have stayed at Elcho Castle during their trip. Parts of the road are still walkable and you can find more information on the routes here: www.heritagepaths.co.uk Pack a picnic, bring a bottle and sit back and enjoy the comfort of the Missel Thrush. Please note this trip down river will not stop at Elcho Castle. When the boat reaches Elcho Castle it will begin its return journey to the Fergusson Pontoon. Please arrive 10 minutes before your trip for the safety briefing.

Fergusson Pontoon, Perth City Centre to View Kinnoull Hill (Maximum 8 Passengers) Adult £12.00 Concession £10.00 Children £6.00 (Under 3s free)

Situated close to the Fergusson Gallery and the South Inch you will start your journey from the newly installed pontoon close to the railway bridge. From here you can enjoy either a trip in the comfort of the Badger, or the exhilaration of a trip on-board the open RIB. If you choose to travel on board the Badger, feel free to pack a picnic for the journey. The trip will take you down the river, past the working harbour, travelling alongside Moncrieffe Island where you may catch a glimpse of golfers playing on the King James VI Golf Course. The golf course was built in 1897, making it one of the oldest surviving golf clubs in the UK. Purpose-built, and believed to be the only inland island golf course in the country, it was designed by ‘Old’ Tom Morris, the legendary winner of multiple British Open Golf Championships. The boat will pass under the Friarton Bridge and take you past the Willowgate Activty Centre and on towards the point in the river where you have a fantastic view of Kinnoull Hill. Here the boat will turn around and transport you back to the Fergusson Pontoon. On your return, head into the city centre for dinner, a drink or a show to finish off your evening.
