Perth’s the place for spooky and kooky Halloween fun. Get in the spirit by dressing up and taking part in a costumed parade through the city centre. Or practise running from ghouls by taking part in the Halloween Howler, a junior race for 6-12 year olds, or take the Halloween Screamer zip wire down the High Street. For grown-ups looking for a bigger fright dare you brave the Castle Horror 666 Zombie Maze? Caution: While there will be something for all ages, parts of the city will be zoned as unsuitable for children due to the scarier entertainment on offer. Parental discretion is advised.

Spirits of Scone will offer a thrilling illuminated tour around the Palace grounds, including the graveyard and the Ghoul’s Maze. Some gruesome characters from Scottish history will be brought back to life with spine-tingling stories inspired by local folklore.

Join a beautiful lantern-lit procession through Perth City Centre, ending with the unveiling of the Perth Christmas Nativity Scene outside St John’s Kirk. A great way to celebrate your local community this festive season. Daytime workshops are held to create the lanterns all ready for this short parade. The celebration of Christmas continues with carol singing, and bell ringing.

Various locations in Perth City Centre Ticket prices: Entry £10 per runner - this includes a Santa suit (adult or child) to run in, finisher’s medal, and goodie bag. The streets of Perth will be filled with Santa Clauses of all sizes for our annual 5km fun run event. A fantastic sight for supporters, and a great experience for our runners. Your finisher’s medal will even double up as a Christmas tree decoration, and runners who keep their Santa suits on to visit local retailers often benefit from a range of bonus discounts and special offers.

Whilst the origins of this ancient custom are lost in the mists of time, the tradition is maintained by local voluntary effort. Each Hogmanay as midnight is announced by the bells of Big Ben the Flambeaux are lit. The torches, consisting of long thick birch poles with tarred rags tightly bound to the tops, are paraded around the village preceded by the pipe band and followed by an adult fancy dress parade.
