ARCHIPELAGO MARKEN THE NEW WATERCITY

We as Dutch are praised for our knowledge about watermanagement and our beautiful watercities. The built of cities as urban waterconstructions, the polders, the Deltaplan. For centuries we faced the consequences of cultivating and civilisation below waterlevel and we managed.

Today, we are facing new issues. Housing shortage in an area that is threatened by sealevel rise. Nature threatened by heavy urbanization and civilization. What should be our next step and what do we need to solve the quest?

My thesis offers a new way of thinking about how to built a city landscape with water. Grown up in the Frisian lake area I know what qualities water has to offer.

In the end water is our friend.
