Recycling

Mrs L. Eagle

Our recycling endeavour has grown constantly over this last year. I am grateful for all the waste that you bring; for collecting, washing and sorting it. You have no idea how it helps to have carefully selected and packaged waste brought to the centre. We will continue our effort at educating our school community as to what recycling really is and how we can all benefit from proper recycling. Mrs Elizabeth Boje has continued with her bottle cap collection untiringly, and numerous needy people have received wheelchairs through her effort. Thank you to all who have embraced this charity and separated the capse from the cold drink bottles - which saves us hours of work! In fact, consider making this your new year theme - don’t replace caps on empty bottles, rather collect them separately. We are still collecting bread tags and our first bin is almost full. Keep on saving them over this festive season please. We were very excited to hear that Waterkloof Primary won second place in the MPACT recycling drive. The school won a prize of R5000! Apparently we missed first prize by a mere 400kgs of paper/cardboard. So we are all motivated to collect that first prize next year! MPACT recycles mainly paper and paper products so please send all your waste paper to us - it is clean to work with, stacks easily and recycles well. MPACT has a special appeal for magazines, so if you bring your old maga-zines, please make sure they are placed in the GREEN bins. Finally, a word of thanks to: Our Gr 6 recycling monitors - they have manned our recycling project with enthusiasm and loyalty. Without them you would probably have to wait for much longer on a Wednesday. The parents who have given of their precious time to help us - thank you. We always need more people who can donate an hour of their time each Wednesday morning from about 07:00 to 08:00. Happy reducing, reusing and recycling!
