24 June 2016

C. Goodies

These times will be effective from the third term. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 07:15 - 08:00 Monday, Friday 11:30 - 14:00

Mrs S.C. Monyai Thank you to all the staff for the work done during this term - it was a hectic term with all the tests and exams. Well done to the children for their hard work. Parents are thanked for their continuous support in all aspects of school life- you are our pillars of strength. A special thank you to our School Governing Body members for the many hours they spent servicing the school. Now we can all have a well deserved rest. To those who are travelling, travel safely and to those staying at home, keep safe and be warm. Enjoy the holiday. School re-opens on Monday 18 July 2016 at 07:30. Children to pack for Day 4.

PTA Mandela Day 67 Minutes Initiative - Desk Refurbishing Project Please diarise Saturday 16 July 2016, WPS, 08:00 - 12:00, when parents are invited to refurbish old and damaged desks. We look forward to seeing many parents supporting this project. The children have already donated R10.00 and decorated their Mandela hands, which are being kept safe by the teachers. Children are also encouraged to do something worthwhile in helping others during the holidays for Mandela Day. When school opens for the third term on Monday 18 July 2016, the children may wear civvies free of charge. Children who have paid R10 to support the MD Project will have the hands they have decorated displayed in the hall. The hands will be returned to the children on the 18th to write in what they have done to help others in the holidays.

SPCA - Charity

Mrs A. Stobbart

The charity we support during Term 3 is the SPCA. We ask our children to bring dog food, cat food and blankets for the SPCA animals, to school. All the food and blankets can be sent to your child’s register teacher.

Consultation Times

Mrs J. Shee

Parents please take note that it is not acceptable to just arrive at a teacher’s classroom or office door without an appointment. Staff are being prevented from arriving at extra-murals and meetings on time by parents who arrive unannounced. We cannot leave children unattended! Parents are asked to please adhere to the staff consultation times specifically arranged for parents to have a set day and time in order to assist you and our staff with timeous planning. These appointments are strictly by appointment only and 15 minutes long. Grade 4 5 6 7

Day Monday Thursday Tuesday Tuesday

Time 14:00 14:00 14:00 14:00

Hair

Mrs J. Shee

We are having many discipline problems with hair styles, especially amongst the boys. Please refer to the school rules at the front of the homework diary. Children who persist in breaking the rules will forfeit going out to break while two days grace is given for parents to arrange for appropriate haircuts. If after two days the learner has not complied with the school rules he/she will be sent home to have the matter resolved immediately.

Detention

Mrs J. Shee

The increase in children attending detention is alarming. We need parental support with the signing of the homework diary, signing of tests, checking that homework is done and school bags are correctly packed for the next day. A good work ethic and routine that is established at primary school will result in a much more successful high school and future careers. Once one child is “perceived to have gotten away with breaking the rules, others try to follow suit! This cannot and will not be permitted. Worrying about the small things makes managing the bigger issues easier - a proven fact!

Spelling Bee

Mrs J. Shee

Congratulations to the children who were selected to participate in the Cluster Spelling Bee Competition, namely Enzo Neto, Odirile Moumakwe and Kareena Jivan. Our children represented us well and Kareena successfully went through to the Circuit Competition where she performed extremely well and will now represent our school at District level in Term 3. Congratulations.
