WATERKLOOF PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 25 – 2013

20 September 2013

From the Headmaster’s Desk End of Term 3 We have reached the end of a very busy third term. Thank you to all members of the SGB, parents and children for your hard work and support during the past term. A sincere word of appreciation to all members of staff for your hard work this term. The dedication to our school and the high standard of work delivered speaks for itself when looking at our academic, sport and cultural results overall. We are heading into the last phase of 2013 and I have no doubt that all goals will be achieved this year. Rest well and may you come back revived.

Annual General Meeting & Budget 2014 The SGBs Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday 24 October 2013. Documentation for the AGM will be forwarded to parents on Wednesday 18 September 2013, and will include minutes of the previous AGM, audited statements and the Agenda for the upcoming AGM. We request that all parents attend the AGM as school fees for 2014 will be proposed. The following stipulations were confirmed by the Governing Body Foundation as well as the Department of Education. Notification of the AGM must be sent to parents 30 days before the meeting. Copies of the proposed budget for 2014 will be available from reception 14 days before the AGM. A quorum of 15% is required for the AGM.

Heartfelt Thanks

Mrs J. Shee

Words cannot express the gratitude of the family and St Francis Anglican Church for the enormous contribution which was paid from the WPS community to assist the family with the funeral costs. R8 800 was collected and handed over. The response from our children and parents shows once again the true spirit of caring that we have at our school. A sincere thank you must go to Mrs Lubbe, Ms Voigt and the senior choir who opened the requiem mass with two beautiful songs. Our children conducted themselves with the utmost dignity under extremely upsetting conditions. WPS paid tribute to the two boys and their family in a befitting manner. Thank you to all the children and parents who helped in a small way towards the slow process of healing for the family.

Read-a-Thon

Mrs J. Shee

Thank you once again to our parent community for supporting our Read-a-Thon 2013. The children went to town dressing up as ‘Royalty’ and they appeared to thoroughly enjoy the day. Hooked on Books dramatised a number of books, all of which are waiting in the Media Centre for the children to read! So far the day made a profit of R43 796! Thank you parents!

Gardens Spring is here and we are looking at brightening up our school gardens. All parents are invited to make donations of plants. We are looking for – rosemary bushes, red geraniums, and trays of seedlings, e.g. violas, pansies, etc.

Mrs J. Shee

If you would like to purchase any of the above and donate them to the school we would be most grateful. Please send items to Mrs Shee’s classroom. Thank you.
