Well done to all the Grade R to 7 children! Our Train-your-Brain was a big success and the children did extremely well, answering general knowledge questions. Congratulations to our winners in each grade who received a chocolate during assembly. Children we are proud of you. R27619.40 was raised for school funds - thank you!

Charity

Mrs J. Shee

New Christmas Gifts for Children in Need

Please support this term’s charity project to provide a new gift for a child between the ages of 1 to 18. Many children do not have a Christmas filled with cheer due to their home circumstances. We ask you to please be generous and light up someone else’s life with a special gift. Your kindness always makes a difference in many children’s lives.

SPCA Collection

Mrs A. Stobbart

A reminder to parents and children that SPCA collection tins are placed in each register class. We are very grateful to our parents, learners and staff who open their hearts to such a needy cause.

Recycling

Mrs L. Eagle

A huge thank you to everyone, especially the children who are bringing recycling to the school each week. We have had some hiccups with our recycling companies, but this has not deterred your consistent supply of recyclable items. We are very grateful to our team of recycling monitors who allocate points to each person who brings. They are there early and work hard. Thank you parents for getting them to school extra early! Here are some comments they have made:

“The reason that I love recycling is because I can help others to save our planet. One thing that sometimes irritates me and my recycling monitor friends is that people do not wash out their recycling, like milk bottles, etc. but we still thank the parents who do help their children to bring recycling and it is our BIG pleasure to help them. We also ask more parents who can, to bring recycling and to support one of the best schools in Pretoria - Waterkloof Primary School!” Abigail Vermeulen - Gr 6 “Hello, my name is Lethabo and I am part of the recycling monitors. Every Wednesday I am excited to help the environment, but lately we have a problem - people are not cleaning their stuff, and it puts Mrs Eagle, adult helpers and the recycling monitors in danger. We can become very sick. You can help by taking off lids, caps and covers of appliances and washing them inside CLEAN!! Thank you for all your help. “Recycling is fun, but some people don’t think about the children unpacking the recycled objects. I found leftover sour milk from a milk carton! It is very disgusting but I am happy to know that there are people trying to save our planet!” Entle Motaung - Gr 6 “Hello, I’m Semra Oral. The best think about recycling is that each paper that you recycle can save a lot of labour. One Wednesdays we receive a lot of paper, plastic and glass. It is hard work for us recycling monitors, but we love it. So thanks for recycling with us.” “At first when I got my letter for recycling I was over the moon. I am so excited that I can do something to help save the earth. It is very awesome to help others also. Last time I was shocked because apparently I saw onions. I was very disappointed by this matter. I am very happy to help do recycling.” “Hello, my name is Yasser Noor Mahomed and I’m a recycling monitor. It is so fun seeing people helping out and recycling. It is so joyful seeing all the people bringing recycling to help stop pollution and keep the earth healthy and clean for the future. In the beginning I thought only people from the school come but now I see that many people bring to our school. I really hope more people are going to recycle. The one thing that I find sad is that not many Grades 6s come to help sort out and take points. Remember the saying: ‘Reuse, Reduce and Recycle to make the earth a better place.’ Hope to see you next Wednesday from 07:00 to 07:30.” “Sometimes you feel like you are cruel to nature but when I recycle I feel like I am one with nature. Being a recycling monitor or even just a helper is amazing. Some-times the stuff could be dirty and disgusting and could give you goosebumps but for me its worth it. Join the recycling monitors to be one with nature!”
