End of the Term

2 October 2015

Mrs S.C. Monyai

We have come to the end of a busy third term. Thank you to all the staff members for their hard work during this term. I wish all the teachers, learners and parents a well deserved rest during this holiday, and those who are travelling, to be safe. Thank you to all the School Governing Body members for your ongoing support of the school. The school re-opens on Monday 12 October 2015, and the learners must pack their suitcases for Day 6.

Heads of Afrikaans A word of congratulations to Mr M. Wissing and Mrs M. Smuts on their appointment as Heads of Afrikaans. Mr Wissing is in charge of Grades 4 and 7, and Mrs Smuts Grades 5 and 6. Congratulations and good luck to them.

Leaving the School All parents whose children are leaving the school at the end of the year must please inform the school in writing, so that a Transfer Card can be issued. Failure to do so will delay the process.

Textbooks All textbooks were retrieved during the last two weeks of the term. Any outstanding books were deemed as lost and the replacement letter has been issued.

Annual General Meeting The notice informing parents of the 2015 AGM was issued on Tuesday 29 September 2015. Minutes of the 2014 AGM, current audited financial statements and Agenda were attached. We encourage parents to attend this important meeting as the school fees for 2016 will be proposed and approved.

Heritage Day Assembly Thank you to all the learners, teachers and parents for supporting the school in making our Heritage Day celebration such a success. Civvies Day Procedures

Mrs J. Shee

Please note that when the school holds a civvies day as a fundraiser, all children are expected to pay their R5 on the day they wear their civvies to school. If the child or parent decides not to support the civvies day for any reason, the child is to wear his/her school uniform to school as normal. Children who arrive in civvies without their R5 will be sent to the office to phone their parents to bring their school uniform to school.

Career Day

Tshowa Katumba - Gr 7

On 28 September 2015 the Grade 7s had a career day. We had a marvellous time, and the day was truly a success. Beautiful posters were displayed on the hall walls. Speeches were given by every learner saying which career they want to pursue, why they have chosen the career and what the career is about. We had many medical doctors, lawyers, marine biologists, engineers, IT specialists, web designers, social workers, a soldier and a chef. Thank you to Mrs Wassenaar for making this possible. Thank to all the other teachers for their support.
