No additional studying is required for these papers. Revision has been done in class or given as homework during the course of this term. Please ensure, as far as possible, that your child is at school on the days of the exams. This is an excellent opportunity for our school and children to show how much they have learnt! There will no extra-murals during the ANA week. ANA results will be sent to parents as soon as the papers have been marked by the teachers and moderated by the Department of Education.

SPCA - Charity

Mrs A. Stobbart

A special reminder that the charity we support during Term 3 is the SPCA. We ask our children to bring dog food, cat food and blankets for the SPCA animals, to school. We would like to appeal to all our valued parents and learners to support this project. It would be appreciated if each class can donate dog food, cat food, old or new blankets. All the food and blankets can be sent to the learners’ register teacher each morning. Each term SPCA collection tins that are placed in each register class for children to put their change into. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Recycling

Mrs L. Eagle

We had a bumper start to Term 3 - thank you to everyone who collected their waste over the holidays and brought it to school. We are experiencing some problems with the recycling and wish to clarify some issues. Waterkloof Primary School has a recycling depot. This means that it is a place where RECYCLABLE items are collected for recycling. It is therefore obvious that: it is NOT an alternative place for dumping your empty household containers; the different items for recycling must be sorted; it is not merely a fun activity for Grade 6 learners; it is not a place where you can drop-n-go; because glass and tin waste can be hazardous to the children, it must be treated appropriately - under no circumstances may glass and tin waste be left on the field, and  all items must be CLEAN - no dirty peanut butter, oil, margarine, yoghurt containers, milk cartons or bottles must ever be brought for recycling - they must be washed!     

We are not able to sort bags of mixed items. Please place all paper and cardboard on the field. All other recycling must be brought into the enclosure and placed into the appropriate container. The containers are labelled according as to the type of recyclable material which may be placed in them. Our helpers are willing to direct you to the correct container. It would be helpful if you checked the recycling triangle on the bottom of the plastic item. We only recycle those plastics with 1s, 2s, 5s and 6s. All plastics should be sorted into these groups before you come to the school on Wednesdays. Your co-operation in this regard will be greatly appreciated. Failure to sort in this way will result in closure of our recycling depot which would be a sad thing, as well as being a bad example to the children, who for survival in the future will have to get to grips with the recycling concept. We will also be losing a fantastic and easy opportunity of fund raising for the school. Please, please, please make the effort!
