Thank You

Mrs J. Shee

A huge thank you to all our children and parents who so generously supported the Tateni collection for Mandela Day! R2709.50 was handed over at the end of last week and many toiletries will be bought with the contribution from WPS! Your kindness is never taken for granted thank you.

Annual National Assessments

Mrs S.C. Monyai

Between 16 and 19 September 2014 all learners in South Africa will be assessed to determine their level of competency in Literacy and Numeracy. The aim of these assessments is to improve the quality of education. No studying is required to prepare for these tests. Teachers and parents can help the learners to prepare by going through the previous year’s ANA papers. These papers are available on the education department website - www.education@gov.za See the timetable below when these papers will be written.

Recycling

Mrs L. Eagle

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This week the majority of the people who brought material for recycling had washed and cleaned and sorted them. This makes such a difference to the volume of work we have to do and time spent on it. Please take note that we are having an “open hour” from 07:00 to 08:00 on Wednesday 27 August 2014 at the recycling corner. We would like as many WPS families to see what happens here each Wednesday morning. So please take a few minutes to pop in, have a cup of coffee and see us in action. Remember to bring a bag of recyclable material as well. Please diarise - Wednesday 27 August 2014 : 07:00 to 08:00 A kitchen knife fell out of one of the bags we sorted at recycling on Wednesday 6 August. If it is yours, please collect it from Mrs Eagle.

Scripture Union

Mrs L. Eagle

There will be Scripture Union on Fridays from 14:00 to 14:45 in Mrs Sebastian’s classroom. This is open to all children from Grades R to 7. We would love to see you there - a good place to be if you have to wait for parents on a Friday! Children who are not fetched straight after Scripture Union will need to go to the waiting class.

Mrs J. Shee

Read-a-Thon

Mrs J. Shee

The WPS annual Read-a-thon will be held from 1 to 5 September 2014. Please see the sponsorship letter for details. We ask children and parents to give this year’s Read-a-Thon your full support as we would like to use the funds to upgrade the staffroom into a venue where teachers can prepare lessons and mark. The staffroom has not been upgraded in nearly two decades!
