WATERKLOOF PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 11 – 2012

30 March 2012

From the Headmaster’s Desk We have reached the end of a very busy first term of 2012. I have to commend all members of staff for their hard work and dedication to our school this past term, and always being prepared to walk the extra mile. In a term that saw the election of a new SGB and PTA, implementation of the new continuous assessment performance standards in the Foundation Phase, concert practices, the usual meetings and training sessions, a tremendous tempo in teaching was maintained. I can only thank and congratulate you on a very successful term. Thank you to the parents for your continuous support and involvement in so many aspects of our school. It is highly appreciated. Even though this holiday is very short, I wish you a successful time of rest and rejuvenation.

Staffing We say goodbye to Mr B. Erasmus who is relocating to England to play club cricket. We wish him well with this new venture. He will be sorely missed.

Charity

Mrs J. Shee

Please continue to send in old spectacles to support the Leap Frog Vision drive. The closing date has been extended to 8 June 2012. Thank you to all the children and parents for the R5122.77 collected for Child Welfare this term. A very generous contribution from the WPS community!

Discipline

Mrs J. Shee

Behaviour certificates for Grades 4 to 7 are no longer handed out at the end of each term. In place of the certificates we have introduced a ‘free civvies day’ for all children who did not receive a discipline slip during the term. The first free civvies day for good behaviour was enjoyed on Tuesday 27 March 2012. Well done children – we are proud of you!

Honours Board

Mrs J. Shee

Parents are reminded to send in proof of provincial colours for a school sport to Mrs J. de Beer if you would like your child’s name to be included on our Provincial Colours’ Honours Board.
