WATERKLOOF PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 23 – 2013

2 September 2013

From the Headmaster’s Desk Condolences It is with sadness that we inform you that in the past two weeks we have had three members of staff who lost close family members. We offer our condolences to Mrs Jane Anderson (Stepfather), Mrs Retha Visser (Mother) and Mrs Carol van Schalkwyk (Aunt). We have them and their families in our thoughts and prayers in this time.

Parent and Child Communication The demands that modern society places on members of a family can cause tremendous strain on family structures. We often place work commitments first in our lives and the associated stress causes frustration levels to be high. Too much has to be accomplished in too short a time, with the result being that communication often deteriorates or falls by the wayside. The one thing that parents need to focus on more is communication with our families. We have to know where our children are at all times. It is important that children know you are interested. It provides a secure environment and trust between family members.

Tips on Communication

Children must know when they will be fetched from school. They must know who is collecting them. They must memorise parents’ telephone numbers.

SPCA Collection A reminder that we are supporting the SPCA this term. We are collecting cat and dog food, dog blankets and change for the collection tins. Thank you for all your support so far!

Pretoria News Design-an-Ad Big congratulations to Thabang Bapela who came third overall in the Pretoria News Design-an-Ad competition in the Grades 6 to 7 category. Please use the School Communicator as we constantly update news and photographs and appreciate if parents could use this very effective means of communication. There are many events and arrangements during the final term of a school year and this form of communication cannot be successful without the full support of the parent body.
