Hey Key Clubbers! Hope everyone is enjoying their vacation, whether you are busy with a summer hustle or getting some well-deserved rest. With summer here, we are transitioning to a new email list and a new points spreadsheet. If you haven't already, whether you are a longtime member or new to Key Club, be sure to fill out the new signup form at bit.ly/stuykc-1920. The first week of July was the annual Key Club Internationally Convention and I'm pleased to announce that Stuyvesant Key Club is a recipient of the Distinguished Diamond Level Club Award. This is an extremely big deal and I just want to say a big thank you to every single one of you for your hardwork and contribution to Key Club during the immediate past service year. I hope we can keep this up and get the award again next year. School may be over but the Key Club grind never stops. A couple of events had already took place in July and there are so many more to come for the rest of the summer.Â

Hey guys, Congrats on making it through the school year! I hope you’re well on your way to a great summer vacation. On the website you’ll be able to find the new prf in the resources tab which our president Jason made. There is also an updated list of project captain instructions on the website. I’m currently working on another tab with an FAQ section and an anonymous feedback form for how Key Club is doing in your eyes. This will hopefully add transparency and allow us to address all of your issues. Finally, expect a recap video for May and June very soon. (I’m a dum dum). By Jason Xiong (President) On Wednesday, June 19th, we held our annual Dave and Buster’s fundraiser. At the fundraiser, we sold Power Cards of $15 and $25 to our attendees. There are games, such as Big Bass Wheel where you just spin the wheel and can get any amount ranging from 4 to 1,000 tickets. There are also lots of intense action-packed games like the Speed of Light where two players race to press all the lit-up circles before time runs out. Some people tried their luck at the claw toy machines while others became addicted to collecting tokens in exchange for lots of tickets. Most games allow attendees to earn tickets that they can use to redeem for prizes at the Winner’s Circle. Everyone went home with lots of goodies, from fluffy llamas and the iconic Pikachu plushy to expensive slushy making machines and Bluetooth speakers. We were able to raise a whopping total of $3,722 for our Governor’s Project, the New York Chapter of Special Olympics, a sports organization that helps to provide training and also competitions for children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.

"I was appointed at the finish line to help out and was soon covered in powder that enthusiastic runners threw into the sky as they crossed the line. In those few hours at the finish line, I inhaled in an unhealthy amount of colored powder." -Keyi Guo

BY: JASON XIONG The Change for Kids Family Festival Carnival was held on the first of June at PS 142 for elementary school children and their families. Upon arrival, we joined the carnival coordinators in blowing up balloons and tying balloons together to decorate the metal fences around the schoolyard. It was not a small schoolyard so after decorating all the fences with balloons, I was very close to passing out. Good thing I didn't :) After decorating, we were assigned to a game in the carnival to manage and collect tickets from kids. Zi and I were assigned to the fishing game, where you spin a spinner to get a number and try to fish using a fishing pole. There are magnets on both the fishing pole and the fish. It was really fun to see all the kids try to fish; there were small fights between kids and some who just grabbed the fish with their hands from the small pool of water. We were in charge of running that game until the end of the event. I really enjoyed the event and it's definitelyyy not because of delicious food.

MEMBER OF THE MONTH JACKY CHEN

The name "Key Club" is really sort of a double-edged sword. The name itself doesn't quite give a good idea of what the club is actually about. The first time I heard of Key Club was in Freshman year. Someone told me that it was about connecting with people from other schools and that sounded really lame to me so I didn't join until the end of sophomore year when I really learned what Key Club did. The name is also quite poetic though. I see it as a key to unlocking the human spirit that can be locked in some of us. The human spirit is all about working together and helping each other; and, for some people, we forget about that. Some of us seclude ourselves and try to do everything solo. Unfortunately, I was one of those people. But, when I joined Key Club I realized that I don't need to be alone. There are a lot of amazing people out there that I wouldn't have met and a lot of new things I wouldn't have done if not for Key Club. So I'm really glad that I was able to be part of this amazing club and I can't wait to continue joining events!
