Hey Key C

As always d by us but the individua overlooke submittin of Hope, filling out forms for the Locksmith, and just engaging with us! Only with your engagement does the Locksmith continue to flourish. Despite being apart in quarantine, you’ve all managed to keep the Key Club spirit alive.

Editor's Editor's Note Note

Hope you're all having a happy and healthy new year so far :))) My year has been off to quite a start, between submitting all of my college apps (:D) to finishing up exams and thesis papers for my classes (D:) . But I'm looking forward to the warmer spring months, we're more than halfway through the winter season! Hopefully it will snow soon...

I do want to remind everyone that the quarantine stories is always open as there are always new quarantine stories to tell. Seeing everyone's faces at Induction made me quite sentimental of this past service year and our graduating seniors. Congratulations to everyone for finishing the school year! It’s been grueling but we made it.

Shoutout to all our volunteers, old and new, for continuing to volunteer during these frigid January weeks, and sending your photo contributions to the Locksmith! Although our little publication can be overshadowed by much of what's going on every day at Key Club, me and the rest of the committee are thankful for your continued support. <3 Speaking of committees, shoutout to my directors and everyone in the Locksmith committee literally couldn't do the work we do without y'all!

So keep submitting your wonderful photos to locksmithcommittee@gmail.com, and keep your eyes peeled for some new rework going on by the 2nd floor scanners, our club's bulletin board! :0

In addition, I must also address that these past two months have been marked by very impactful events. It is important that we do not remain ignorant. As Key Clubbers, we should utilize our platforms and lead this change. I encourage everyone to read the statements given by Key Club.

Yours in care and service, Keara O'Donnell Stuyvesant Key Club Editor Cabrisuns 2022-2023

How's it popping Key Clubbers?

I hope the school year has been going well for the majority of you, whether it be finding your new favorite club or maybe getting into a college or two (looking at the seniors) With 2023 beginning, I wanted to say how proud I am of all of you at Stuy Key Club (and beyond :) I’ll be the first to admit that life is so hard and being a teenager too is no less difficult While these are just words on a screen, please look out for yourself, whether that be taking a mental health day or destressing with your friends. Don’t let the competitiveness of Stuy get to you, it's a terrifyingly difficult and challenging place. But at the same time, it can be amazingly supportive and beautiful, so keep pushing on. If you ever need anyone to talk to, my DMs are open, I love talking so you’ll probably get to hear about an embarrassing story or two. As with Key Club, I hope this is one of the many places where you can find a community Whether it be volunteering at six in the morning or playing Kahoot in a random classroom, just know, Key Club is always a place that welcomes you. Have a great rest of the service year!

Hey Key Clubbers!

I hope everyone has been doing well lately! Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed with schoolwork, but I’ve also been hanging out a lot with my friends and trying new foods in NYC I can’t believe it’s already 2023; it’s crazy that I’ll be graduating in just a few months!

KEYI GUO

I want to thank you all for your continuous hard work and for remaining as active as you all have been. Thank you for volunteering at our events, attending our fundraisers, and joining our meetings. We really appreciate your dedication and support! I hope you all have been able to make unforgettable memories through Key Club. Additionally, election season is approaching us! I can't wait to see our new 2023-24 Cabinet, and I’m so excited for what they have in store for Key Club.

Elections have finally happened and I want to congratulate the seven super talented people for solidifying their spot in Stuy Key Club history The race was so close (there was a tie for a certain position) and I lowkey had a lot of fun counting the ballots. I am excited to see what the 2023-2024 cabinet has in store for club members. To the candidates that unfortunately didn’t win, please consider applying for committees or running for club board positions. Every single person that gave a speech the past Tuesday provided a strong and legitimate case to win Key Club will heavily benefit from your continued dedication.

KEYI GUO

To the club members that joined us this year and still ran for office(Jana and Veronika), I just wanted to say that your speeches blew my mind and you two did so well considering the limited time you spent with us. Good luck next year, I hope to revisit Stuyvesant Key Club one day and see how much you two grew as Key Clubbers and as high school students

Hey Key Clubbers!

I hope you've all been doing well! Recently Stuyvesant has had our Movie Fundraiser for the movie Missing and an Ice Skating Fundraiser in collaboration with Brooklyn Tech and Bronx Science. They were both incredibly fun and we definitely hope to plan more events like them in the future If you happened to miss our fundraisers then be on the lookout for new announcements on our Facebook and Instagram.

In this January edition, I first want to thank everyone for sticking with us throughout the first month of the year! I hope everyone ’ s feeling well-rested and ready to continue strong into the new year. In the past few weeks, I went to the Welcome to Chinatown Lunar New Year Fair, in which I had an extremely fun experience convincing mall goers to partake in the scavenger hunt prepared by Welcome to Chinatown (and partaking in it myself after my shift!). Another amazing service event I went to was the Package School Supply Kits in Manhattan, hosted by Repair the World. We created comprehensive school kits for students, adding everything from notebooks to binders to fidget spinners to each bag!

KEYI GUO

As we begin to say goodbye to this service year and hello to the new, I’m super excited for us to begin to transition into the election season for the new Key Club Cabinet

MEMBER OF THE MONTH Samuel Li

My introduction to Key Club holds a special place in my heart, mostly due to how vividly I remember the day that I decided to go to my first event, and in doing so, decide to change my life for the better. During my freshman year of high school, I felt lost and disconnected from the world around me, due to schools switching to remote learning due to the pandemic. During this time, I lost my self-confidence and my motivation to grow as a student and person, choosing to spend all day locked up in my room and avoiding any form of productive or social activity. However, near the start of my sophomore year, I made the best decision I have made during my time at Stuyvesant and went to Corlears Hook Park with two of my friends. Although my friends had pressured me into going and I didn’t exactly want to be outside, I hoped it would serve as an eye-opening experience and maybe even establish a routine of me going outside more frequently. Sure enough, I found the experience to be extremely rewarding, and although it was just the three of us representing Stuyvesant at the event, I found it to be really enjoyable and thought to myself that maybe going outside once in a while wasn’t so bad.

As I attended more and more events, however, I found that I felt like a part of something meaningful, something that I had even started to actively enjoy and look forward to doing, and no longer something I did to pass the time that I would otherwise be wasting at home; instead, it was something I set aside time for and looked forward to. Looking back, I realize how much Key Club has changed my life for the better. It may just be another school club, but it provided me with a platform to step out of my comfort zone and grow as an individual. It gave me a sense of purpose and a chance to make a positive impact in my community. But more than anything, Key Club helped me find who I am, and I am forever grateful for the growth and transformation it has brought to my life. I can't wait to see how it will continue to impact the lives of others, just as it has mine.
