Please call or drop by the office to order your fruit now. The Youth Choir thanks you for your support! Some of you may have noticed a uniformed police officer on the church grounds recently. In an effort to make our campus as safe and secure as possible, we have hired these officers to patrol the area on Sundays, Wednesdays and other high-usage times of our church facilities. This was not done in response to an incident already occurring. It is simply a precautionary action on our part to insure we remain a safe and secure environment. When you see one of the officers, speak to them and let them know how much we appreciate their assistance!

IF IT’S ON YOUR HEART...

BUILDING COMMUNITY NEW ADULT MINISTRY

Visit the website (NewnanFUMC.org) and click the “Dinner with Friends” banner for more information and to sign up!

If it’s on your heart, chances are it’s on someone else’s heart also. Rev. Maria Bowers is offering a pastoral care blog IfItIsOnYourHeart.blogspot.com for us to explore a variety of pastoral care needs, issues, and matters of the heart. If something is on your heart that you’d like to explore further, drop Maria (mbowers@ newnanfumc.org) a note and suggest a topic!

Contact Karen Oothoudt with any questions: koothoudt@newnanfumc.org

JOY TREES! The Joy Trees will be up this Sunday, November 20 in the Narthex and Parish Hall lobby. This year, we have 138 opportunities to bless the lives of 69 children in our community. There will be 2 cards for each child posted so we can choose between toys or clothing. Take a card (or 2 or 3!) and make a difference in the life of a child this Christmas! Gifts are due no later than December 11. Follow the instructions on the cards and contact Kathy Wilson with questions (KathyLWilson226@gmail.com).

FREE THANKSGIVING MEAL @ COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH

On Thanksgiving Day, we will gather together to thank God for the blessings in our lives and to celebrate with a feast of turkey or ham and all the trimmings. Many in our community are struggling this time of year. Do you know of someone who will be in need of a Thanksgiving meal or who has need of clothes but simply cannot afford these things at this time? A FREE Thanksgiving Day Meal, sponsored by Community Christian Church, will be served at two locations Newnan High School and Arnco-Sargent Elementary School - on Thursday, November 24, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. If someone cannot make it to either location, plates ordered by 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day will be delivered from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Free clothing is also available at both locations during the hours food will be served.

KIDS MISSION FOCUS IN SUNDAY SCHOOL UTH FALL RETREAT

Retreats are opportunities to take a break from ordinary life and spend some dedicated time with God and your UTH family. They’re full of fun, activities, worship, family groups, and free-time. They are meant to allow students to recharge and refresh their souls and to place memories and spiritual markers in their lives. November 18-20, 2016 Ocoee Retreat Center, Ocoee, TN Cost: $85 | Sign up @ NewnanUTH.com

PARENT VOLUNTEER CORE

It’s been said that every student needs five significant adult connections (beyond their family) in their lives to help them ground their faith and make it last for the long-haul. This could be a mentor, a Sunday School teacher, a family group leader or even the smiling face that hands a student pizza each week. To do this, we need your help as parents during our regular Sunday worship, local events and trips. You might also have some special skills that would be useful, such as photography, scrap-booking or painting. Putting all of our hands and gifts together will give us the chance to be as effective as possible in strengthening our student’s faith. By registering your information online (NewnanUTH. com & click “For Parents” at the top), we’ll put you into a contact database to keep you regularly informed of ways that you can jump in and help. Thanks in advance for your willingness to join in this Kingdom work.

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS! SAVE THE DATE! WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14 During Wednesday Night Supper (5:30-6:30pm) All children and their families are invited to join us for a special time of singing, crafts, storytelling, and celebrating Jesus’ Birthday!

During the month of November we will begin having a Kids Mission Focus as a part of our Sunday School lessons! This short time spent each Sunday will help our children learn to pray for and give to others as we continually try to live and love as Jesus did. Each week we will be encouraging children to bring a small monetary offering to class or Praise and Worship in the chapel with them. This offering will go towards local and international outreach with our Kids Mission Camp, taking place in the summer. In addition to a monetary offering, I am also asking that classes begin to encourage children to bring in items for next year’s packing of Operation Christmas Child boxes—done as a part of our Kids Mission Camp. Each month we will see which class can bring in the most of that item and the winning class will get breakfast from me! For the month of November, we will be collecting: Kids hats, scarves, and gloves! Thank you for your support of these offerings and ministries as we continue to teach our children about sharing the love of God with others! In Him, Brooke Barksdale
