Once again, it is time for our annual Youth Choir Tour! On Friday morning, June 2, 71 choir members and 16 chaperones will depart for New England. We will be spending the week at Camp Aldersgate, a United Methodist Camp in North Scituate, RI. The choir will be leading worship in four churches: Wesley UMC in Lincoln, RI, Old South UMC in Reading, MA, Haven UMC in East Providence, RI, and First UMC in Framingham, MA. They will also be singing for the residents of Winslow Gardens Retirement Community in East Providence, RI. We will be attending a Pawtucket Red Sox game where the Ensemble will be singing the National Anthem. We will be touring Fenway Park and cruising Boston Harbor. We will also be serving our homeless brothers and sisters by preparing and serving lunch through Elisha’s Project in Providence. As if that weren’t enough, we’ll also be traveling to Maine for lobster and the beach! The choir asks for your prayers as they travel and serve. Pray that those who hear them will be blessed by their presence and their message. Also, please pray for our chaperones: David Kinrade, Bonnie Krider, Brent Ritter, Craig Bryan, JoAn Kinrade, Kelley Ritter, Kristy Rossey, Mary Moore, Kerry Moore, David Johnston, Melanie Reeves, Sam Madaris, Matt Burrows, Laurie Fambro, Bernice Phelps, and David Royal. Finally, please plan to be present for our Youth Choir Homecoming combined Worship Services on Sunday, June 11, at 8:30 and 10:55 in the Sanctuary.

KENYA: OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ZOE

We are still looking for 12 families to give $35/ month for one year to partner with our church’s commitment to the North GA conference bridge to Kenya. This is the equivalent of a family of four giving up one meal at a fast food restaurant a month in order to empower an orphan to escape the harsh life of homelessness, abuse, and starvation and move toward a life of selfsufficiency. See Brooke (bbarksdalenewnanfumc. org) or JoAn (jkinradenewnanfumc.org) for more information and how you can join a team traveling to meet our group in September! We will have the opportunity to visit the group we are sponsoring in Kenya and meet them at the very beginning of their empowerment journey! A trip for this fall, September 5-15, and next July are being planned. If you are interested in being a part of the September trip, a verbal commitment is needed as soon as possible and a $500 deposit is due by June 11, with the full amount due by July 11. See Brooke Barksdale (bbarksdale@ newnanfumc.org) for any questions or to express your interest in joining this team!

SPECIAL OFFERING: THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 4, 2017

Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson has named the Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) as the 2017 Annual Conference Special Offering. The MEF has helped thousands of men and women become pastoral leaders in The United Methodist Church. It is nurtured and funded by United Methodists to provide scholarships to seminary and undergraduate students, course-of-study for local pastors, and license to preach school. Aligning with the theme of the 2017 Annual Conference, “Show Your Work: Worship That Inspires Action,” this fund is one way United Methodists can show our support to those called to serve as clergy. Together we can help minimize debt of North Georgia United Methodists beginning in ministry. Although MEF is a general church apportioned fund of which 25 percent is retained by our conference, 100 percent of the giving to the Annual Conference Special Offering will go to United Methodist seminary and course of study students in the North Georgia Conference.
