MUSIC NEWS

Thanks to all our children’s choirs for leading worship in such an inspiring way on Sunday, May 1. You were super! I look forward to seeing you in choir again in August. Also, thanks to all our children’s choir volunteers: Colleen Sprayberry, Kathye Shattner, Sara Dewberry, Allison Davis, Avery Raptis, TJ Stanford, Martha Ann Halus, Julie Perkins, Susan Paulk, Courtney Cole, Kristin Barron, Julie Smith, Blake Smith, Laura Elliott, Bernice Phelps, and Mary Weaver. Thank you for sharing your gifts with our children. Finally, I thank all parents for making choir a part of your children’s lives. I pray that they will continue to grow and learn as we serve together through our music! Youth Choir: Only two more rehearsals before Tour 2016: May 22 @ 4:30pm & May 29 @ 5pm. Summer Break: All choirs, except our service choirs (Parish & Chancel), are on summer vacation. I look forward to seeing you in the fall and thank each of you for being a part of our music ministry! -David

BRIDGING THE GAP SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM Newnan FUMC has committed to help distribute lunches for Bridging the Gap’s Summer Lunch Program to help provide lunches for those Newnan/ Coweta children who aren’t guaranteed a lunch during the summer months. We are responsible for filling the weeks of June 6, 13, & 27 (M-F | 11am - 1pm). For each date, a group of 10-12 individuals is needed to report to BTG (19 1st Ave.). Please sign up for available dates online (visit our website & click the banner) so that we can make sure to fulfill our promise to BTG! Childcare is available for those who need it. Let us know when signing up if you need childcare.

VBS 2016

June 13-16 | $15/child | 9am - 12:30pm | Registration is going on now for VBS 2016! You can register your child by either visiting our website and clicking the banner or by finding the forms located throughout the church. We also need volunteers, so use either of the above methods to register as a volunteer as well! Contact Brooke Barksdale (bbarksdale@newnanfumc. org) if you have any questions. WE NEED ADULT VOLUNTEERS TO WORK WITH OUR PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN GROUPS! Aaaand, we are still in need of a nurse to work each day of the event. MANDATORY TRAINING FOR VBS VOLUNTEERS Sunday, June 5 or 12 following Connect in the Parish Hall. June 12 is setup day for VBS after the training.

3-DAY MISSION CAMP FOR RISING 3RD-6TH

ANGEL’S HOUSE DONATIONS

The Newnan-Coweta Angel’s House (an emergency shelter for teenage girls) is in need of paper products. You may place donated items in the Gathering Room. Questions? Contact Kelley Welden (770.845.8450)

CHILDREN’S SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL

Starting on June 6, there will be no praise and worship for K-3rd grade children in the Chapel before Sunday School. Children and parents should check in with KidCheck outside the church office and then head up to their classrooms.

FRUIT CUP ROUND-UP

From now until May 31, we are collecting fruit cups for Meals on Wheels to be distributed to Coweta Co. senior citizens. Please bring apple sauce, diced peaches/pears, mandarin oranges, or mixed fruit cups to the wooden crates located in the Gathering Room, 2nd floor of the Annex Building, or the Parish Hall lobby. If you have any questions, contact Kathy Wilson (404.790.4831). ALSO, the children’s Sunday School classes are having a competition from now until the end of May to see who can collect the most fruit cups! The winning class will win breakfast from Ms. Brooke!
