SPRING STUDY ON SPIRITUAL GIFTS STARTING THIS SUNDAY!!!

Come join us on a study of the Spiritual Gifts. Some Sunday school classes are participating as a group, but ALL are welcome to attend. Learn about the spiritual gifts and how God intends for them to be woven together so that the church can accomplish its mission. Each participant will be given a spiritual gifts inventory so that you can discover how God has gifted YOU to be involved in the work of the Kingdom. The study will meet in the Parish Hall on Sunday mornings from 9:45 - 10:25am on March 12, 19, and 26. (**Be aware that March 12 is the morning of the time change!**). This study is sponsored by the Stewardship Team and will be taught by Lewis Jackson. Sign-ups are not required. Email Lewis Jackson (Jacksons4Him@numail.org) for more information.

GIVE IT UP FOR LENT How often do you purchase something you don’t need? Chips, soda, candy, Starbucks, nail polish etc.? What if you took the money from those purchases and put it toward something that really counts? We are asking each member of our church family to donate $1.00 per day (or more) during the 40 days of Lent to help fill the shelves of the Bridging the Gap food distribution program. You can purchase approximately 18 lbs. for $40.00 at retail stores. However, if you give that same $40.00 to the Give It Up for Lent campaign, 400 lbs of food can be purchased at an average of 10 cents per pound! Last year, we presented a check for over $12,000 to Bridging the Gap. With your help, we can do it again. In fact, let’s look forward to bigger and better and make it $13,000! There will be collection containers available following each service. You can make your donation all at one time, or weekly, and you can donate online, too. Please make checks payable to Newnan FUMC and mark “Give It Up” on the ‘memo/for’ line. Thank you for being a part of caring for those in our community who need it.

CHAPEL NEEDLEPOINT

In December of 2012, the Needlepoint Committee of Newnan First United Methodist Church met with Linda Mote, a well-known needlepoint designer from Lexington, South Carolina. Linda studied the windows, architecture, etc., of our chapel and returned home to design canvases to be stitched for our chapel. In October of 2014, the canvases and yarn kits were delivered for completion of two altar chairs, (backs and bottoms), two kneeling cushions for the free-standing kneeling bench, and the cover of the piano bench. The piano bench cover was donated and stitched completely by Charlotte Harvey in honor of Bob McKoon for the many contributions he has made to our church.
