Laundry for Lent is a ministry of assisting persons at the “Washing Well” Laundromat by offering to pay the cost of cleaning their clothes. It is our way of letting persons know they are loved by God and the Church. It involves a simple offer to serve them in the name of Christ. To participate, please sign up on the display board (located in the Narthex) and select your date. We recommend you take $20 in quarters. You may do more or less based on your ability.

SPRING STUDY ON SPIRITUAL GIFTS ENDS THIS SUNDAY!!! If you have missed the past 2 weeks’ studies, go online and click the banner to catch up! This Sunday is the LAST WEEK!

The study will meet in the Parish Hall on Sunday mornings from 9:45 - 10:25am. Email Lewis Jackson (Jacksons4Him@numail.org) for more information.

GIVE IT UP FOR LENT We are asking each member of our church family to donate $1.00 per day (or more) during the 40 days of Lent to help fill the shelves of the Bridging the Gap food distribution program. You can purchase approximately 18 lbs. for $40.00 at retail stores. However, if you give that same $40.00 to the Give It Up for Lent campaign, 400 lbs of food can be purchased at an average of 10 cents per pound! Last year, we presented a check for over $12,000 to Bridging the Gap. With your help, we can do it again. In fact, let’s look forward to bigger and better and make it $13,000! Our current total is $5,440! There will be collection containers available following each service. You can make your donation all at one time, or weekly, and you can donate online, too. Please make checks payable to Newnan FUMC and mark “Give It Up” on the ‘memo/for’ line. Thank you for being a part of caring for those in our community who need it.

EASTER LILIES Now available to order in honor or in memory of loved ones | $10 per lily LAST WEEK!!! All orders due by March 26! Order forms can be located throughout the church (lobby outside main church office, Narthex, lobby of Parish Hall). NOTE: The committee must place the flower order early. After 100 lilies are spoken for, you may still make a memorial or honorarium donation and it will be published, however, flowers will not be guaranteed.

NEXT STEPS SUNDAY, APRIL 23 | 9:45am | Parish Hall Register online by clicking the banner! Breakfast and information/Q&A session for regular attenders interested in membership. The focus of this year’s retreat will be on claiming our inheritance through Jesus Christ our Lord and accessing our God-given power and authority through the Holy Spirit. Prayerfully consider prioritizing this time away to spend time with God and one another. (Semi-private accommodations are available). Plan to simplify and unplug; to focus on Jesus and His holy seal on your life. It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it, found yourselves home free, signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. -Ephesians 1:11-13 (MSG) Questions? Contact Rev. DINNER WITH FRIENDS (Building Community) IT’S TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE NEXT GOROUND! (April - July) | Dinner with Friends is a great way to meet folks from church that you may not already know. It’s also a good way to get to know your church family better. These dinners are an exciting way for those new to First UMC to connect with others that have made First UMC their church home. It is also an opportunity for guests who are visiting the church to experience Christian community informally. Groups plan their own meals and get together once a month for four consecutive months. You share meals at participants’ homes, at local restaurants, the church or wherever the group decides. The emphasis is on fun and fellowship, so you don’t have to be a gourmet cook to participate. Dinner with Friends groups 6-8 willing people together, and they will plan meals in order to get to know one another better. Once groups are formed, the first host will be selected from the group roster. He/she will contact members to arrange the details for the first gathering. Simply indicate your interest on the Connection Card in Sunday’s bulletin OR sign-up online (click the banner) by the deadline. Singles or couples can sign up. Once groups are formed, a host will be selected for each group. Then he/she will contact members to arrange the details for the first gathering. Dinner groups are encouraged to be creative in the meals they enjoy together. Members of the group take turns serving as host. Each group meets once a month for 4 months. Then at the end of the 4th month, new groups are formed. Contact Karen Oothoudt (koothoudt@newnanfumc.org) with any questions. Sign up is continuous, but depending on the time of sign-up, you may be asked to wait for the next time when groups are re-formed.
