ADULT SPIRITUAL FORMATION RETREAT SAVE-THE-DATE APRIL 28-30, 2017 OCOEE, TN RETREAT CENTER Stay tuned for more info!

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS SUNDAY February 26 in Connect 11am in the Parish Hall NOTE: Due to the sensitive nature of this message, J.A.M. will be open to children up to 5th grade for this Sunday. Parental discretion is advised. Statistics are staggering: *In the U.S., 3 women die per day as a result of violence and abuse. *Every 14.6 seconds, a man is assaulted by his wife or girlfriend. *1 out of every 10 children witness abuse every day. While often not talked about in church, the reality of domestic violence and the need for us to recognize warning signs is a necessary topic. Carla Webb, sister of church members Missy and Jeff Smith, will be sharing her testimony as an abuse survivor. As founder of “If You Only Knew Ministries,” Carla serves as an advocate for those affected by domestic violence. She will tell her personal story of living under another person’s abusive power and control and then she will emphasize the hope and healing she found through Jesus Christ her Lord.

SPRING STUDY ON SPIRITUAL GIFTS The stewardship committee will be sponsoring a 3 week study on Spiritual Gifts during the Sunday school “hour” on March 12, 19, and 26. It will be held in the Parish Hall and will go from 9:45-10:30am on each of those dates. All adult and youth Sunday school classes are invited to participate. I will be teaching the study, and the three weeks will look something like this: Week 1: What are spiritual gifts, and how are they different from earthly talents? (All participants will receive a spiritual gifts inventory to take home and complete before the next class.) Week 2: Discussion and description of specific spiritual gifts. Also, how to interpret a gifts inventory. Week 3: How spiritual gifts fit into the life and ministry of the church. Stewardship is all about taking the gifts God has given us and using them appropriately to bring glory and honor to Him. This class will enable our church to have a spring emphasis on Stewardship (and it has nothing to do with money!) If your class will be participating in this study or if you have questions, please let me know (jacksons4him@numail.org). We are not asking for individuals to sign up, but knowing if an entire class is participating (and how many people might attend) will help to more closely approximate the number of inventories to purchase. In Christ, Lewis Jackson
