STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

Thank you to all who have made a pledge to support the church for 2017! Your offers of service are being sent to the appropriate staff members, and the church is already being blessed by those who have committed to pray for it.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21 6:30pm | Sanctuary Childcare will be available.

Consider taking time out of your busy schedule to come and worship; to come apart for a little while and to pray for yourself, your family, or friends who are facing challenges in body, soul, or spirit this Advent season. This worship service will provide a safe place to bring your concerns and burdens and acknowledge that, in the midst of all of life’s circumstances, our joy comes from Jesus, the Light of the World. In this peace-filled setting, we will be reminded of Christ’s presence in our lives and the need for us to keep our eyes on Him, rather than our circumstances.

SUICIDE AWARENESS WORKSHOP AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE VIEWING The One Oops Away Suicide Awareness Workshop will be available for online viewing and sharing soon! Please stay tuned! Dr. Kenneth Koon shared a great deal of useful information at last week’s workshop. This will be something you and your loved ones will want to watch and consider more in-depth workshop opportunities in the future.

Financially, members have pledged 63% of the 2017 budget. We normally hope for 78-80% (with the remainder coming from unpledged offerings, offerings from visitors, and people who give above their pledged amount). The Stewardship Team realizes that many church members are still considering their financial commitment for 2017. We are hopeful that as additional pledges come in, we will close this gap so that we can move confidently into 2017 with the ability to fund all planned ministries. If you wish to make a pledge for 2017, you have several options. You can pick up a Commitment form to fill out in the church office or mail back later. You can also complete the form online by clicking “pledge 2017” under the “give” tab--then insert the password “allhandsondeck”. The Commitment form lists many opportunities to pray for and serve the church - it is not just about money! Finally, if you have any thoughts about how our church can serve its members better, how we can reach members with effective messages about stewardship, or how our church can be a good steward of its resources, feel free to email me at jacksons4Him@numail.org. In Christ, Lewis Jackson Stewardship Co-Chair

PARENT VOLUNTEER CORE

It’s been said that every student needs five significant adult connections (beyond their family) in their lives to help them ground their faith and make it last for the long-haul. This could be a mentor, a Sunday School teacher, a family group leader or even the smiling face that hands a student pizza each week. To do this, we need your help as parents during our regular Sunday worship, local events and trips.

DECEMBER 13, 2016

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS! TOMORROW!!! WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14 Happening alongside Wednesday Night Supper (5:30-6:30pm)

You might also have some special skills that would be useful, such as photography, scrap-booking or painting. Putting all of our hands and gifts together will give us the chance to be as effective as possible in strengthening our student’s faith.

All children and their families are invited to join us for a special time of singing, crafts, storytelling, and celebrating Jesus’ Birthday!

By registering your information online (NewnanUTH. com & click “For Parents” at the top), we’ll put you into a contact database to keep you regularly informed of ways that you can jump in and help. Thanks in advance for your willingness to join in this Kingdom work.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS & YEAR END

Contributors must deliver checks on or by December 31st, 2016 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction for 2016. The deadline for contributions received in the mail postmarked December 31, 2016 is January 4, 2017. Any contributions received after this date will be applied to 2017. To ensure the deductibility of your church contributions, please do not file your 2016 income tax return until you have received your year-end contribution statement from the church. Under IRS rules, you may lose your deduction for some or all of your contributions if you file your tax return before receiving a written acknowledgement of your 2016 contributions from the church. Year-end contribution statements will be mailed and postmarked no later than January 31, 2017. If you are donating stock, please allow at least four weeks for the funds to be transferred to the church by December 31st or you may miss all of the above deadlines! If the deadlines are missed, your stock contribution will be applied to 2017. Thank you, The Finance Office.
