God helps those who help themselves. God won’t give you more than you can handle. God said it, I believe it, that settles it. Love the sinner, hate the sin. We’ve heard these phrases all of our lives, but when compared to the wisdom found in Scripture, they’re really just popular sayings. Come learn more about these Half Truths!

Wednesdays

JoAn Kinrade | If you’ve ever struggled with insecurity or had trouble accepting your limitations, this study will help you see how God can use your weakness to unlock His strength. Gideon’s epic victory tells of one man’s struggle with his own weakness, and the One True God who transformed it into triumph. Let’s Talk | Ongoing/drop-in | 6:30pm | Room 203 (Henry Kitchens) | Facilitator: Dr. Stuart Greene | Do you have an opinion about the many current issues facing our nation and world today? Would you like to know what other Christians think about these issues and have a forum to share your thoughts? That’s the whole purpose of our weekly session of Let’s Talk. Each week we explore a timely, and sometimes controversial topic in an effort to discover how our Christian faith impacts and informs our position on the topic at hand. Attend any session to add your voice to the discussion! UTH Bible Study | Begins August 17 (ongoing) | 6:30pm | Youth Lounge STUDIES CONTINUED ON PAGE 6

(childcare available for 5th grade & under) Stephen Ministry Training | Begins September 15 (20-week study) | 6:30pm | Annex Conference Room | Cost: $35 for books | Facilitator: Rev. JoAn Kinrade | Learn how to give compassionate Christ-centered care to others who are experiencing life challenges by knowing what to say and not say, how to listen, how to speak the truth in love, and simply “journey with” another. There is no obligation to serve as a Commissioned Stephen Minister after completion of this training. Men’s Study: Fathered by God by John Eldredge | Begins September 8 (7-week study) | 7pm | Youth Lounge | Cost: $12 for books | Facilitator: Lewis Jackson & Robert Ward | Open to men from highschool through adulthood. This study examines how God disciples men throughout their lives, gradually forming them into the men of God they were intended to be. We will examine where we are in God’s process and consider what God is doing in us at this point in our lives. Women’s Study: Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst | Begins September 8 (7-week study) | 7pm | Room 201 (Martha Fuller) | Cost: $15 for book & study guide | Facilitator: Rev. Maria Bowers This study digs deep into the roots of rejection and the poisonous impact rejection has on the heart of relationships, including our relationship with God.
