Serving others is a practical way of demonstrating the love of Christ. Laundry for Lent is a ministry of assisting persons at the “Washing Well” Laundromat by offering to pay the cost of cleaning their clothes. It is our way of letting persons know they are loved by God and the Church. It involves a simple offer to serve them in the name of Christ. To participate, please sign up on the display board (located in the Narthex) and select your date. We recommend you take $20 in quarters. You may do more or less based on your ability. There are still LOTS of opportunities left to serve in this way!

GIVE IT UP FOR LENT

NEXT STEPS

We are asking each member of our church family to donate $1.00 per day (or more) during the 40 days of Lent to help fill the shelves of the Bridging the Gap food distribution program. You can purchase approximately 18 lbs. for $40.00 at retail stores. However, if you give that same $40.00 to the Give It Up for Lent campaign, 400 lbs of food can be purchased at an average of 10 cents per pound!

SUNDAY, APRIL 23 | 9:45am | Parish Hall Register online by clicking the banner!

Last year, we presented a check for over $12,000 to Bridging the Gap. With your help, we can do it again. In fact, let’s look forward to bigger and better and make it $13,000! Our current total is $7,430! Kids can turn in their Lenten offering boxes to Brooke or put them in the collection plates up to Easter Sunday. All of these will go to GIUFL as well.

Breakfast and information/Q&A session for regular attenders interested in membership. If you or someone you know has been attending Newnan FUMC, and are interested in learning more about membership, this is for you/them!

MAUNDY THURSDAY WORSHIP & REFLECTION

There will be collection containers available following each service. You can make your donation all at one time, or weekly, and you can donate online, too. Please make checks payable to Newnan FUMC and mark “Give It Up” on the ‘memo/for’ line. Thank you for being a part of caring for those in our community who need it.

KENYA 2017: INFO MEETING God has called us to be in partnership with the people of Kenya and support them through our visits, our financial gifts, and our prayers. On April 26, our church has the awesome privilege of hosting an informational session about the ZOE ministry model and our Kenya partnership. Reegan Kaberia, Chief Program Officer and Kenya Program Manager and Gaston Warner, Chief Executive Officer, stateside, will be here to kick off our commitment to this partnership with the ZOE Project. Reegan is on fire for Jesus and His children, and will share this model of ministry that empowers children to be their best and strongest selves as individuals, as participants in community, and as people of faith throughout the world. Gaston will be able to answer logistical questions about travel and sponsorship. ZOE enables us to do more with less by investing in the lives of others. We are excited that a team is being formed for our next trip to Kenya--tentatively set for September 2017. We hope to have a team of at least 20 persons representing several churches in our Conference. Come see what the excitement is all about! Visit ZOEHelps.org or contact Brooke Barksdale (bbarksdale@newnanfumc.org) or Rev. JoAn Kinrade (jkinrade@newnanfumc.org) for more info.

IT’S TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE NEXT GOROUND! (April - July) | Dinner with Friends is a great way to meet folks from church that you may not already know. It’s also a good way to get to know your church family better. These dinners are an exciting way for those new to FUMC to connect with others that have made First UMC their church home. It is also an opportunity for guests who are visiting the church to experience Christian community informally. Contact Karen Oothoudt (koothoudt@ newnanfumc.org) with any questions. Sign up is continuous, but depending on the time of sign-up, you may be asked to wait for the next time when groups are re-formed. The deadline for this round is April 10! Visit the website and click the Dinner With Friends banner or the link under “ministries.”
