WE'RE BACK
After a two year hiatus, we are back to producing our acclaimed digital issue. This issue is filled with what we love about sustainable, vintage, secondhand, and haute couture fashion.
T
he one thing that gives me so much joy is directing an editorial shoot. I'm a planner and super anal about the smallest details. Where else could I put this to use without driving other people totally bonkers? It was great fun to direct our cover shoot, Sexy in the City. I had the pleasure to work with a great local designer, Kim Schalk. I've been a fan of her work for many years. She has a flair for the sculptural, architectural look. Her designs have a clean, minimalistic elegance. She loves her grays, blacks, and burgandys. So I loved mixing her designs with stylish secondhand finds, inserting a pop of color wherever possible. Thank you to Anthology DC for allowing us to use their beautiful spaces. This issue also includes fashion editorials from two international photographers, Weronika Mamot (in Australia) and Greg Alexander (in Paris). Mamot's photography on the Glam Punk

editorial is a grab-you-by-thecollar-in-your-face editorial. While Alexander's Prisma and Haute Opulence editorials take full advantage of the beautiful Parisian scenery. Both photographers captured the depth of sustainable fashion and haute couture producing three eyecatching, alluring editorials. I always seek to work with local creatives on projects. It's important to me to support local. So I was happy when local stylist, Devon Pina of Fashion Citizen and one of our favorite vintage curators, Instant Vintage 78, wanted to collaborate. CONTRIBUTORS Devon Pina is the creative mind behind Fashion Citizen, a multi-platform fashion and lifestyle brand. His philosophy behind fashion is that everyone has unique style within them. Samantha Simms and Stacie Washington are the discerning curators of Instant Vintage 78. Instant Vintage 78 is an online boutique that provides carefully curated, high fashion collections of women’s and men’s vintage clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories. They hand select unique, well-crafted gems that are classic in style and will translate through the decades.They worked with Devon Pina to style the Vintage Maximalism editorial. Katya Akuma is a New York-based creative director, designer and founder of a nonprofit organization Council for Fashion and Social Change. She received her MA in Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design in New York and Paris as well as at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She interviews Anthony Gregorio, co-founder of Angelo Igitego.
Eugene Simms, a Washingtonian, is a freelance style architect whose skilled eye and well rounded work experience has lead him to create ESA Style LLC - a full service styling agency specializing in personal, commercial and editorial styling for men, women and established and emerging brands. Eugene was the stylist assistant on the Sexy in the City editorial. IG: @e.s.a._style1
