BENEFITS OF SPONSORSHIP

Introduction The Herb Society of America (HSA) is a 90-yearold 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to promoting the “use and delight” of herbs. Founded in Boston by a handful of curious female botanists and gardeners, HSA’s membership has grown from seven to more than 2,200. There are members in every state and several countries. The mission of HSA is delivered through webinars, online education, digital publications, social media, and an annual print journal - The Herbarist - one of America's oldest continually published horticultural journals. The Herb Society of America hosts a biannual educational conference that attracts members from all over the country. The location changes, as does the theme of the event, but the roots of the event remain firmly planted in the idea of “society” and community, gathering together, and peer learning. HSA's 2024 Educational Conference will be held June 20-21 in suburban Philadelphia, PA. The conference theme is Once upon a thyme...stories from the garden. Up-to two hundred out-of-town registrants and their guests will visit the area. The 54-member HSA Philadelphia Unit will act as hosts, sharing the best local gardens, attractions, cuisine, shopping, and more that Philadelphia has to offer!

About HSA and Its Members What is HSA? The Herb Society of America is a 501 (c)(3) membership organization and a community of herbal enthusiasts. There are more than 2,200 active individual and business members. HSA educates its members in the cultivation and use of herbs of all types, provides opportunities for members to exchange ideas and socialize, and presents wellresearched herbal information to the public. Two grant programs - the Samull Classroom Grant and the HSA Research Grant - provide funding to further the study of herbs. The first, serves children; the other, professional and academic researchers. Why Herbs? Herbs and humans were linked before written history and throughout every civilization. From the earliest recorded medicines, to plant dyes found in the pyramids, to hemp ropes strung on Viking ships, to trading cacao as currency, herbs have shaped civilizations. Who are HSA's Members? Members of HSA are drawn to the study of herbs because of the depth of the subject matter. Whether your area of interest is herbalism, cooking, perfumery, or anthropology, your herbal studies can last a lifetime. HSA members are largely female and above 60 years old. Many are retired. The largest concentration of members lives in the northeast and mid-Atlantic coastal regions and the south/southcentral regions of the US. Who are HSA's digital audience and social media followers? HSA has pivoted from an in-person and print education model to one that delivers most of its information digitally. Significant investment has been made in its online presence. This has allowed HSA to reach a growing, and diverse, digital audience.
