GOING FOR GOLD Rochdale’s Olympic hopes rest with local yachtsman Stuart Bithell and open water swimmer Keri-Anne Payne. 24-year-old Keri-Anne, from Heywood, became the very first athlete confirmed for Team GB 2012. The two-time World 10km Open Water champion and Olympic silver medallist will dive into the Serpentine on 9th August this year. Rochdale-born Stuart Bithell, who
started out at Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club, became the 21st member of Team GB. The 25-year-old will partner Luke Patience in the Men’s 470 Class, recognised as one of the most competitive of the Olympic dinghy classes, also on 9th August.
Stuart’s recent successes include a silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in Perth and silver at the 2011 European Championships in Helsinki. Hopes are high for both Stuart and KeriAnne and Style would like to wish them the very best of luck for the Games. www.rochdalestyle.com
