Summer is in full flight as days grow longer and the sounds of camp fill every space at the Community Center. Of course the weight of the late June Surfside Remembrance events is still heavy in our hearts. We look forward to bringing you a recap in next month’s issue. As we transition to a fuller sense of normalcy in the wake of the pandemic, we appreciate the sacrifices that so many, including our camp vendor and parks staff, had to endure for so long. It feels good to be back at 100% this year, and so are a number of Surfside summer staples including the Parks & Recreation Fourth of July event. Come out to enjoy swim races, live music and games from 3 to 5 p.m. before enjoying the Fireworks Show on the beach at 9 p.m. The Tourist Board will be presenting the return of Summer Fridays, a hit beach event series that has not taken place since 2018 due to beach renourishment and the pandemic. The series will feature unique themes and activities, food, music and more. Stay tuned to our communications channels for updates. I’m proud to highlight two Surfside businesses for outstanding achievements in the culinary world this season: The Surf Club Restaurant, located at the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, was one of only 10 restaurants in Greater Miami to receive a coveted MICHELIN Star in the brand new 2022 MICHELIN Guide Miami, Orlando and Tampa.. Harding Avenue’s modern classic Josh’s Deli was also featured by Michelin in their online Point of View dinning guide. Congratulations on these world-class achievements! Thank you for calling Surfside home. A n d r e w H y a t t , To w n M a n a g e r
