2019-20 Year in Review and Board of Governors

Page 1

2019–2020 BOARD OF GOVERNORS The Board of Governors is the lead donor group that provides support for the Educational Foundation’s Annual Fund. With our deepest appreciation for their generosity and continuing support, SigEp would like to recognize the following donors for their Board of Governors-level giving during our 2019-2020 fiscal year. BOG members allow SigEp to expand the quality and reach of chapter programs, leadership events and scholarships each year. Chairman’s Circle $10,000+ Tom Jelke

on SigEp in 2019–2020 Because of the record-breaking support of donors like you in the 2019-2020 year, the SigEp Educational Foundation was able to provide more opportunities than ever for our undergraduate brothers through the Annual Fund. The impact of your generosity helped change lives and build balanced leaders for the world’s communities.

This year, with your giving, we can again rise to meet the challenges this unprecedented academic term will bring for our men.

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

<< 56TH GRAND CHAPTER CONCLAVE Through this program, executive officers will gain a blueprint for navigating this unique year and will bolster their leadership skills for their lives ahead.

GRAND CHAPTER CONCLAVE 1,204 attendees came together in summer 2019 in Houston, Texas, to define and advance SigEp’s vision of personal and collective growth. We hope to see you in Denver for the 57th Grand Chapter Conclave, July 28 through Aug. 1, 2021.

TRAGOS QUEST TO GREECE RUCK LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE SigEp’s unique leadership program enabled 263 undergraduates to explore and develop their personal leadership skills, nearly double the amount typically reached in person. Led virtually by 70 experienced alumni facilitators over eight weeks this summer, 100% of scholars reported understanding their strengths and areas of improvement as a leader. Throughout this academic year, we will continue to offer rolling sessions of Ruck to rising leaders, furthering the reach and impact of this landmark leadership program.

LIFE AFTER COLLEGE 306 young men came to Kansas City in November 2019 to learn how to translate their SigEp experience to the professional world and prepare for their careers. Alumni and volunteers assisted in providing 239 career coaching sessions to attendees. This year, we will bring the opportunity for coaching to each student, connecting undergraduates and alumni for one-on-one virtual career coaching sessions and sparking new mentoring relationships.

CARLSON LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 1,575 undergraduate leaders attended five Carlson programs around the country in February 2020. They left with increased knowledge and confidence in their ability to create a positive SigEp experience for the more than 13,000 members in their chapters. For the year ahead, we've reimagined officer training and support, and are providing monthly officer training sessions to ensure SigEp’s undergraduate leaders have what they need, when they need it, virtually.

CARLSON LEADERSHIP ACADEMY >>

19 undergraduates met virtually with four mentors and a professor for this selective program over summer 2020. Together, they “traveled” through ancient ruins, experienced Greek culture through a cooking class and meeting with a local guide, and participated in philosophical conversations pushing them beyond their comfort zones and helping them overcome self-limiting beliefs.

THE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION: •

Provides leadership and life skills to thousands of undergraduate men each year at transformational programs.

Offsets the rising costs of college through hundreds of thousands in scholarships to deserving undergraduate men.

Supports efforts by all of our local chapters to provide opportunities for our members to grow in leadership, academics, career preparedness, and physical health and wellness.

Fosters safe living-learning environments in chapter houses that enhance the time students spend outside of the classroom.

2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR BY THE NUMBERS

$914,710 given by 2,983 donors for the Annual Fund

VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING As campuses abruptly wound down operations or sent students home this spring, SigEp adapted within days to fill the void virtually and provide relevant training and quality personal development content. 23 virtual meetups hosted over Zoom and live on social media engaged over 46,000 viewers around personal growth and chapter leadership topics throughout spring and summer 2020. 35 short “SigEp Experts” videos engaged over 51,000 viewers on relevant life and leadership topics. The recorded, content-rich videos will continue to provide on-demand development for our brothers in the upcoming year.

$268,493 given on Founders Day of Giving by 1,615 donors 402 members of the Board of Governors, our lead donor group, provided support for the Educational Foundation’s Annual Fund
