ISTVÁN KANCSURA

Born August 19, 1941, Budapest, Hungary Education: The „Ioan Andreescu” Fine Arts Institute, Cluj, Painting Section, class of 1965. Since 1965, he has exhibited in Cluj County exhibitions.

Group exhibitions: Cluj, Bucharest, Timișoara, Budapest.

Personal exhibitions: Cluj, 1967, 1989, 2003, 2012; Coburg, Germany, 1992

In 1970 he created an original kinetic principle, The Anatomy of Light, based on observations of nature.

In 1990 he painted a Triptych in the tradition of Byzantine art: „In Memoriam Vincent van Gogh”.

In 1990, „Memento for the Souls of the Brothers van Gogh, One Hundred Years after the Death of the Artist” at the Cluj GreekOrthodox Seminary.

In 1998, an exhibition of Contemporary Romanian Art in Budapest, Hungary.

Have written about the artist: Mezei József, Andrei Pleșu, Vasile Muscă, Paul Cornel Chitic,Octavian Barbosa, Gy. Takács.

Has contributed texts to: Utunk, Korunk, Tribuna, Transylvania Jurnal, the Art review, Verso.
