COMEDIAN JOHN WESSLING HOSTS THE PRE-SHOW AND COSTUME CONTEST AT GREASE SING-A-LONG AT THE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION AUGUST 15. WESSLING HAS BEEN FEATURED ON “LAST COMIC STANDING,” “COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST” AND ODDBALL COMEDY FESTIVAL AT THE PAVILION IN 2013.

ISAAC CONROE FARMER’S MARKET ADDING FOOD, VENDORS, AND FUN CONROE – The First Thursday Farmer’s Market in Downtown Conroe continues this coming Thursday, August 6th from 4-8pm with an expanded array of new vendors, food selection, and entertainment to enhance the Downtown Conroe area with something for everyone’s tastes. Bluegrass, fiddles, and the impromptu jam session begins at 4:00pm contributing to the small town atmosphere. Bob Hensley is the lead banjo player that encourages the public to join him with bluegrass music throughout the event. Hannah and Susannah Hulin, members of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, accompanied Bob on stage playing the violin and viola in July. Local musician BJ Thomas is also known to make an appearance. The Conroe Downtown Area Association (CDAA) is excited to see the growth from 17 vendors to 37 creative craft and food vendors. Local food vendors include the Mad Beekeeper bringing honey, Lil Emma’s Seafood with fresh shrimp, The Bread Lady, Popcart Handmade Ice Pops (popsicles), and Vintage Food with homemade jam cookies. Not to be left out of the new Food Truck Craze, Burgers and More will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks. Local produce was provided by Party Barn Farm, and they sold out of fresh produce in the first hour! They will be bringing watermelon, tomatoes, onions, and “We are going to have to move to the parking lot to expand our vendor space. The momentum is growing and I can’t wait to see what happens next month”, said Leo Harris owner of Conroe Coffee and Coordinator of

the Farmer’s Market. Debuting Thursday at the event will be Llama Rugs, Hiding Place Boutique-Scrabble inspired décor, Sew So Sassy Handbags, and Witt and Wisdom Palette Signs. There is even something for your “furry” friends-K9 Campus Café will sell dog treats! Additional New Vendors: Mockingbird Babyhooded -towels and teething necklaces for baby Personal Protection Products-pepper spray, stun guns Thankful Daisy Designs-decorated wreaths Bits and Bobs-vintage jewelry Hippie Crochet-beanies and head wraps And not to miss is the artist-Dirk Strangely with his pop culture fantasy art paintings. Strangely is known for attending comic book, horror, and sci-fi conventions displaying his artwork in ink and paint. He is also known for his creation of “Graveyard Girl”, a novel as well as his dark children’s book-“Myrtles Broken Turtle”. Strangely also contributed to Jim Henson’s Legend of the Dark Crystal. The First Thursday Concert series will begin at 7:00pm with Dirty River Boys/Zach Walther and the Cronkites performing at Heritage Place Park 500 Metcalf, rain or shine! Come feel the vibes of the bluegrass music, get your feet wet in the splash pad, and emerge yourself in everything that is Downtown Conroe! “YOU’RE THE ONE THAT I WANT” FOR A GREASE SING-A-LONG AT THE PAVILION AUGUST 15 THE WOODLANDS – Dig out those poodle skirts and leather jackets for a Grease Sing-ALong at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion August 15. This special sing-a-long presentation of the original motion picture begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for lawn seating and covered seating is available for $10 and $15. Tickets are required for this event. At this unique and interactive show, guests will experience the movie on The Pavilion’s LED screens, complete with animated lyrics displayed at the bottom. This family-friendly version is suitable for all ages. Sit back and watch Danny, Sandy and the gang, while singing (and dancing) along to the lyrics on the screen to hit songs like “You’re the One That I Want,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and, of course, “Greased Lightning.” Attendees are encouraged to come decked out in their own versions of fifties high school garb worn at Rydell High, including poodle skirts and saddle shoes, black leather and powder-pink jackets, chiffon scarves and skinny ties. The best costumes may be chosen to go on stage for a costume contest during the pre-show entertainment by comedian John Wessling, who has been featured on “Last Comic Standing,” “Comedy Central Roast” and Oddball Comedy Festival at The Pavilion in 2013. Guests are welcome to have a picnic at their seat or on the hill, but beverages cannot be brought into The Pavilion. For guests sitting on the hill, lawn chairs will be provided free for this event. Preferred parking is available in the on-site Town Center Garage, located along Six Pines Drive. Parking is $10 per vehicle for this and most performing arts events. Tickets for on-site parking can be purchased in advance at all Ticketmaster locations and The Pavilion Box Office. Guests also may park in any of the five free parking lots on the southwest side of The Pavilion. The free, color-coded lots are connected to The Pavilion by corresponding pathways with signs leading across The Waterway.
