LEAVING A LEGACY TOGETHER

I

wish I could bring you with me into every moment of ministry during the year. Every time I see or hear what God is doing in men’s lives, I am mindful a whole team of people helped to make this happen. God takes your prayers, financial support, and service and weaves it all together into a powerful story of transformation in men’s lives. Transformation happens suddenly or gradually, over time. But make no mistake, God is taking your faithful investment and using it to build stronger, godly men.

IMAGINE IMAGINE

/ KIRK GILES President

Imagine what it would be like to have over 50,000 young men gather together to hear a story of how God has transformed a man’s life. We all want to see men of every generation following Jesus and becoming who God designed them to be. Imagine the impact and inspiration it would give these men to hear how God is active in the lives of others they have heard of and respect. This kind of inspiration is what happens in every episode of This Is Me TV. This online video series targeted towards inspiring young men towards Jesus had over 350,000 views in the past year!

DISRUPTIVE

DISRUPTIVE

Every time we can speak truth and hope into the life of a man, there is the opportunity for God’s grace to disrupt a man’s life. He takes the direction we are moving towards and changes our vision for life. The theme for our conferences this year was Disruptive. I wish you could have been with us in different cities to see how Jesus was disrupting men’s lives. Multiple cities saw a tremendous response of men beginning their journey of following Jesus. Each of our conferences closed with a challenge for men to identify whose life God was calling them to disrupt, and then to write that name down as an act of surrender to God. We heard stories of men who surrendered themselves to missional efforts like helping the fatherless, rescuing women and girls from sex trafficking, and entering into full-time Christian ministry as pastors or missionaries. Then, there

were piles of individual names — friends, family members, neighbours, and co-workers. What an opportunity for God’s disruptive grace to multiply beyond a conference and filter into the everyday moments of life. MULTIPLYING

MULTIPLYING

The world needs more godly men. This statement is evident when we look around. The best way to get there is through increasing the number of men who are committed to the mission of helping other men follow Jesus. This mission is why we have such a substantial commitment to developing leaders across the country. In the past year, you helped to establish over 30 community networks of leaders from various churches who are working together in the mission to disciple men. We are committed to working towards even more significant growth of networks in communities over the next several years. You have also helped invest in current and future generations of pastors, so they are better equipped to invest in the lives of men. We now have two partnerships with Bible Colleges and Seminaries for a course on the discipleship of men. This multiplying of leaders is now growing into francophone communities as well. A significant effort to develop leaders within French-speaking communities took more steps forward in the past year.

LEAVING A LEGACY TOGETHER

WALKING WITH MEN WALKING WITH MEN

Jesus did not just meet with His disciples once a year. He committed to walking with them every day and did so for three years. This commitment of Jesus reminds us of the importance of walking with men throughout the year. Transformation often comes one day and step at a time. This journey is why we are so committed to the development of various tools and resources to support men. Over the past year, you helped us speak into some very significant issues in the lives of men:

+ The

Seasons of Fatherhood book was released just over one year ago. Over 13,000 copies of this book have been sold to strengthen men as fathers.

+ The podcast and SEVEN magazine discussed important issues like: how do affairs happen, how to parent children dealing with mental health issues, and how to deal with stress positively.

+ The

Promise Keepers Canada devotional helped thousands of men stay connected in God’s Word throughout the year. Connecting men with God’s Word is so important because Jesus tells us we “can do nothing apart from Him.”

+ Our

workshops equipped 2,000 men in various areas of life like: God’s vision for being a man, why gender matters, sex, time, and more.

+ We

were able to test pilot the launch of Promise Keepers Canada small groups for men in multiple communities. Watch for more of this in the coming year(s).

CHALLENGES

CHALLENGES

Last year had many difficulties for the ministry. A major project to strengthen our database took longer than expected. We also experienced a problem in growing our revenues to match the growth in ministry opportunities. These circumstances resulted in the need to refine and refocus some of our ministry programs and staffing as we head into a new fiscal year. In the twenty-four years since Promise Keepers Canada began, we are living in one of the most critical moments for men. The world is using language like toxic masculinity. There is confusion about what it means to be a man, and why gender even matters anymore. Men have a lot of pressure and distractions in life. We want to be a success, but we aren’t always sure what that means today. I genuinely believe we are living in a defining moment for men. When men are walking in God’s vision for who they are, it brings life to the people and world around them. I have never seen a time where there is as much conflict and confusion about men as there is now. Satan is at work to take out men and manhood.

WE ARE LIVING IN ONE OF THE

MOST CRITICAL MOMENTS FOR MEN

PRESSING IN

PRESSING IN

The apostle Paul once talked about “pressing on toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” To press on, you have to press into what matters most in life. An athlete who is pursuing a goal has to press into everything that will help him reach the goal.

GOD IS NOT DONE WITH THE MEN OF CANADA. I BELIEVE HE HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN. Together, we have a vision for the importance of leaving no man behind and building up godly men. Together, we are going to press into that vision. We will continue to seek innovation and multiplication to achieve the mission. Celebrate what God has allowed us to do together. Prepare yourself to take this to a new level of impact in the days ahead.

DEVELOPING AND SUPPORTING LEADERS WHO CAN INVEST IN THE LIVES OF MEN. BLUEPRINT LEADERSHIP TRAINING /  HUNDREDS OF RESOURCES have been developed to assist local churches over the years, but few have presented a framework to bring all these resources together into an intentional strategy for discipleship.

LEADERSHIP NETWORKS /  IMAGINE THE MULTIPLICATION and power that happens when leaders from multiple churches support and work together in the mission to reach and disciple men. This is the vision behind our Community Leadership Networks. We have now developed over 30 of these networks in Canada. In the next year, we will continue to develop even more networks – eventually networking over 450 churches together. These leadership networks will bring unity, focus, and support for men’s ministry leaders across the country and grow a commitment of year-round discipleship of men.

COACHING One of the critical elements of a successful team is excellent coaching. This year we will make available ongoing leadership coaching for local church volunteers and staff leading men’s ministry

BUT SPIRITUAL HEALTH? PK@Work is a health plan for your team’s spiritual well being. The leadership training provides a strategy specific to your business. Your team will be equipped to assist in the spiritual needs and development of those within your sphere of influence. “We want to be effective in this ministry, and so that means we’re really walking with and discipling these leaders to do this work for their companies. It’s pretty labour-intensive. But we think the longterm benefit is much greater when you do that.” – Kirk Giles, President Promise Keepers Canada

It provided a real breakthrough to me after struggling with having the proverbial "financial rug" pulled out from me about 3 years ago and finally seeing the hand of God in it all — enabling me to see that I was on the wrong track and my "loyalties" have been misplaced. I am now breathing easier!” – Finding Success Workshop participant

These workshops provide equipping to help men grow year-round.

EQUIP VIDEO SERIES /  THIS COMING YEAR we will be introducing the new Equip Series of Video Workshops. With a limited number of presenters and so many churches looking for great workshops, we have designed video workshops. Instead of the expense of a live presenter, churches can purchase these workshops to show at their convenience. The first video in the series God’s Vision for Men is coming this September.

TIME OUT This new one-day live event combines the workshop experience with fun activities. A mix of learning and doing, each day is customized by the local community. Watch for these events to come to your area or contact us to bring one to you.

RESOURCES /  YEAR-ROUND, DAILY, discipleship requires commitment and determination. With your support we have created resources to help equip men in their growth.

PODCAST Released twice a month, the podcast brings in experts with wisdom and practical experience to help us navigate life’s challenges.

KIRK’S BLOG Each week Kirk explores how to apply biblical wisdom to the current issues facing men and our society. From the keys to leaving a legacy to topics like how to rebuild a sexless marriage, these short articles speak truth and grace in a hungry world.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL Each morning we are drawn to our smartphones and technology, leaving so little time to hear the voice of God. The daily devotional helps thousands of men start the day with God’s Word and insights from godly teachers.

SEVEN MAGAZINE Addressing the issues men face, SEVEN magazine’s tagline: Men. God. Life. sums it up well. Unlike most magazines for men, we cover men’s topics from a Christian perspective, bringing godly wisdom and relevancy together.

FATHER’S DAY AND VALENTINE’S DAY This past year over 24,500 people received devotionals to help equip them as fathers and strengthen their marriages. Many of these resources are provided free to men that cannot afford them and men in prison or addiction recovery centres. Thank you for your help covering the cost of these ministry items. CONNECTION

GIVE MEN PLACES TO CONNECT WITH OTHER MEN FOR MUTUAL SUPPORT IN THE PURSUIT OF GODLY MASCULINITY. SMALL GROUPS /  FRIENDS ARE A GIFT from God. When a man builds close friendships with other men, they sharpen each other, encourage each other, and support each other in the pursuit of what matters most in life. One of the best ways for these friendships to develop is through small groups. We encourage men to be involved in small groups through their church and we provide resources for these groups. But sometimes there aren’t groups available. After pilot testing several small groups this past year, we decided to expand the project and this coming year we will work to create and support 15 small groups. Groups will be in person or online. Also, the Impact conference program will include a short devotional that can be used in a small group setting. This will help attendees to continue to reflect on the teaching and put it into practice.
