Margherita Mannino, lives between Padua and Rome. On the small screen we have seen her in the ninth season of Don Matteo and in other successful series such as Doc - Nelle tue mani. On stage she has appeared in dramas of the calibre of Goldoni’s Le baruffe chiozzotte and Fino a quando la mia stella brillerà - Storia di Liliana Segre. Films to her credit include Silvio Muccino’s Le leggi del desiderio, Silvia Soldini’s 3/19 and this winter, Il Grande Giorno with Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo.

I had taken acting classes at school since I was a child, and it developed slowly from there. Then my moth nouncing auditions for the Teatro Stabile del Veneto Drama School. That’s when I realized that I just had to be involved with the theatre.

The theatre makes me feel at home. The show is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s much, much more underneath. One of my favourite times is when the theatre is empty before the start of a performance. I also love lots especially the team that’s created when you shoot a movie, and the chance to redo a scene – every take is an opportunity to do better and dig deeper.

The one in the drama about the life of Liliana Segre. A very intense monologue, both physically and mentally.

It was fantastic. I like to crackers”. Something clicks when they’re together – a perfect alchemy. Those around them can only sit back and enjoy the show.

Tea and biscuits for breakfast (I know, more English than Italian), a quick ride along the cycle path near home (from the Gemelli Clinic to Monte Ciocci Park), rehearsals, and in the evening, a moment contemplating a Roman sunset. If we want to exaggerate, a carbonara at Perilli’s and adieu.

The Baths of Caracalla, small theatres, wherever there is a maritime pine - which reminds that I’m a transplanted Paduan with Sicilian blood - and the banks of the Tiber. Vive tra Padova e Roma, Margherita Mannino, attrice di teatro, cinema e tv. In televisione l’abbiamo vista nella nona stagione di Don Matteo e in altre serie di successo come Doc - Nelle tue mani. Al cinema ne Le leggi del desiderio di Silvio Muccino, 3/19 di Silvio Soldini e, questo inverno, ne Il Grande Giorno con Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo.

É nata piano piano grazie ai corsi di teatro che frequentavo a scuola sin da bambina. Fu poi mia madre a portarmi un volantino dove si annunciavano le audizioni per la Scuola d’arte drammatica del Teatro Stabile del Veneto. È lì che ho capito che non avrei più potuto fare a meno del teatro.

Il teatro mi fa sentire ‘a casa’. Lo spettacolo in sé è solo la punta dell’iceberg. Sotto c’è tantissimo altro. Uno dei miei momenti preferiti è quando il teatro è vuoto prima dell’inizio di una replica. Anche del set amo tante cose, su tutte la squadra che si crea quan bilità di rigirare una scena: ogni ciak è l’opportunità di fare meglio e scavare più a fondo.

Quello dello spettacolo che racconta la vita di Liliana Segre. Un monologo ed emotivamente.

È stato stupendo. Mi pia di’. Quando sono insieme scatta qualcosa... Un’alchimia perfetta. Per chi sta intorno non resta che godersi lo spettacolo.

Colazione con tè e biscotti (lo so… molto British e poco italiano), corsetta sulla ciclabile dietro casa (dal Gemelli al parco di Monte Ciocci), prove, e, la sera, un attimo di contemplazione del tramonto romano. Se vogliamo esagerare, una carbonara da Perilli e adieu.

Le terme di Caracalla, i piccoli teatri, ovunque ci sia un pino marittimo - che mi ricorda che sono una padovana con sangue siculo trapiantata al centro - e il lungotevere.
