Old Dogs Can Learn New Tricks! Affectionately known as “the dog winery,” Chateau Morrisette’s wine labels have traditionally included artists’ renderings of the First Dog: Hans. New wine labels featuring a modern Hans and the new Orchard Series of wines have just been introduced to store shelves. The labels truly reflect the family approach to winemaking the Morrisettes have fostered since 1978. Hans approves of his new look and is the centerpiece of the brand reflecting a playful, colorful image in an eyecatching way. The Orchard Series of labels present still life fruits that echo the fruit wine in the bottle. Blackberry, peach and apple captivate the senses with ripe fruit flavors and bouquets. Winemaking in Virginia, especially in rural farm country, was unheard of in 1978 when the Morrisettes saw an opportunity to try something new and to create opportunities for Floyd’s citizens. There were no other working wineries in the State of Virginia at that time. Over thirty years later, the winery is a major corporate citizen and employer in the county, with over 80 employees. Noted for producing varietals and proprietary blended wines, it is one of the largest and oldest wineries in Virginia. Virginia is currently home to 230 wineries. The winery has become a destination experience, producing awardwinning wines recognized across the country and drawing visitors to the area year round. Chateau Morrisette embodies the best of modern winemaking with the authenticity and warmth of old world charm. 10

The winery is open all year to visitors and offers unique entertainment, events, music, wine tastings, winery tours, getaway packages, intimate dining experiences and beautiful vistas that create an experience and memories to truly savor. Four outdoor music festivals are already scheduled for 2013 featuring The Greencards, Dangermuffin, J.J. Grey & Mofro, Roscoe Bandana, Donna the Buffalo, Big Daddy Love, North Tower Band and The Tams. Fun, easy to approach wine welcomes customers who can relax and be confident products will be consistently delicious. Hans’ inspiration continues to guide with wisdom and experience. Old friends are the best friends, proving that age has many advantages. A grapevine has a very long lifespan, many a 100 years or more. A vine aged 10 to 30 years old is considered the prime fruit production age of grape vines. Chateau Morrisette respects the gifts the years have given, revels in the rewards of the earth, and pledges to stand true and continue to look to the future. Chateau Morrisette is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mile Marker 171.5 and invites your visit, call or web search: 540.593.2865, thedogs.com
