Outdoor Education in Year 3

Page 1

Mrs Clough and I have been working together to give some practical “outdoor” tasks to the children. As part of the “Rocks and Soil” science topic and in conjunction with the geography work on “Mountains” the class have had a number of exciting moments.

A parent came in and gave a talk about rock samples and as a geologist himself was able to enthuse the class on the awesome subject.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I was able to take the children to collect soil samples from the school kitchen garden and from around the school.

We came back inside to do some experiments investigating particles and finding out if the compost was loam or clay based!

Mud, mud glorious mud! We had a fun time reflecting and reviewing our work.
