HAPPY RED NOSE DAY! A massive thank you to everyone that bought a red nose this year or donated what you could. Every donation made to Red Nose Day really does help to save and improve the lives of thousands across the world.

A WARM WELCOME Hello and welcome to my first time at the helm of the Danesfield Gazette!

THANK YOU! The Lower Phase Music Spring Concert raised an oustounding £150. We are so grateful for all your generosity. Any donation will always be gratefully received!

I would first like to take this opportunity to thank the children, parents and staff here at Danesfield Manor School for giving me the warmest of welcomes. I will be looking after the post of Administrator for Mrs Walby whilst she is away on Maternity Leave. I am always happy to help wherever I can, so please feel free to pop in and see me any time, or by email at mthomas@danesfieldmanorschool.co.uk or by calling the School Office.

FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING!

Well the pupils and I have just experienced the first day of Spring here in the Danesfield Kitchen Garden. Our ECA club and Lower Phase Outdoor Education class has been busy preparing the soil using our school compost and lots of youthful physical energy!

this year and a big thank you to all those families who have contributed to our collection over the last couple of years. The school pond had an amazing amount of frog spawn this year and we are all watching the circle of life with wonder and awe of our natural world.

Seeds have been sown and the pond has been replenished with water from our very own water butts.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families many warm sunshine days over the Easter holiday.

The display of Spring flowers has been delightful

Mother's Day Breakfast What a fun start to the day we had; with Pre-school and Nursery children enjoying a “Mother’s Day Breakfast”. Pastries and fresh fruit were on the menu and all children presented their Mum with a daffodil on leaving.

DRAMA CLUB PERFORMANCE: ROBIN HOOD Wow! What an exciting day for Danesfield’s afterschool drama group. We had the pleasure of being invited to the ISA (Independent School Association) drama festival at Hurst Lodge school for the second year running. The children have been working extremely hard over the last two terms to learn their lines for ‘Rhyming Robin Hood’ and present their performance to the audience. We were escorted into the theatre by two very polite pupils from the upper school and made our way to our seats. The children's tummies were filled with nerves, excitement and of course - sandwiches! But we were to enjoy two other shows before it was our turn. The children were great at remembering the importance of not turning their backs to the audience, projecting their voices and above all, ENJOYING THEMSELVES! The reflection of the shows provided a great opportunity for Danesfield Manor School to put all of these into practice when it came to our own performance.

I must say from deep within my heart that these children were extremely brave and performed their parts brilliantly! Luckily, I only had to prompt a couple of times, as tears of overwhelming joy flooded the pages. I think Mrs Briggs, Mrs Parekh, Mrs Wong, Miss Dennis and of course Mrs Chalmers would have to agree with me! A BIG thank you to all of the parent helpers - we would have been unable to attend the festival without your support - and for that the children and I are truly grateful. Another thank you to all of you providing costumes and helping the children to learn their lines to a rather tricky pantomime. Well done to everybody who put on a great show at the ISA Festival and of course for the whole school performance too. I can't wait until the next show and the next competition! - Mrs Downer Drama Club Teacher

SCHOOL TRIP TO GURDWARA by Amber & Eleanor Year 5 When we got to the temple we went outside the reception and took our shoes off as a sign of respect. We then went in and were shown how to put the turbans on our heads. After we put it on each other we entered the main building. We then went to go and wash our hands as a sign of purity. We then looked at pictures that each told a story. We then met a real Sikh who came and showed us around the temple. We entered a big room with sheets all over the floor. Then, we sat down and listened to a man singing the Holy Scripture. We entered an empty room and sat down to listen to the Sikh talk about the 5ks and some stories about the Gurus.

Then we got hungry and went into a kitchen to make a special type of bread. We came out of the kitchen and got some food trays and cutlery. We then lined up to get our food. We had spicey curry with berries in and lovely rice and the special bread the ladies made. It was so nice we had seconds! After we went back to the empty room to learn about death! We then left with a little treat!

Some of our Junior Choir and Upper Phase Choir enjoyed singing their lovely Spring songs to the residents of Fenner House on Tuesday, March 7. We had a delightful time! -Mrs Sicurella
