This year our children enjoyed a whole week of fun and learning at Woodrow High House. From tent building to catapulting water balloons, rocket building to scavenger hunts - I think it's safe to say that the children had a fantastic time. Some of our pupils have written about their time in poem and letter form. Take a look at some of the pages below to find out what they thought of the experience.

We found mini beasts. We dropped water balloons. We made rockets. - Nicole Laing Reception

Year 1

Year 1

On Monday the 5th I went to Woodrow High House. In the morning I went to school when I got there I went on the coach. It took an hour to get there. When we got there we went in and a man called Sav told us the rules. After that I went on a tour. Woodrow High House was huge, it was ten times bigger than my house. We went on our first activity, it was the mini beast hunt. My team found a beetle, a millipede and a worm. The next thing we did was have lunch. It was so nice. Then we went to the next activity, it was the scavenger hunt. We went in the deep, green forest. We found lots of wonderful things. After that we went back inside and had dinner. Then we did the camp fire, we sang songs and went to bed. In the morning we had breakfast and went to the activities. We did low ropes where we climbed on rope with our friends beside us. Then we walked along a bridge. Ethan was scared but he and I did it. Next we chilled out in our rooms. Then we did night light, we bumped into the obstacles! - Joseph Kalenderidis, Year 3

We got on the spectacular snow white coach and so the adventure began. It was a long way to get to Woodrow High, but with my friends it made it more fun than ever. We passed rows and rows of houses and then passed millions of emerald green trees. Through narrow charcoal roads and then out into the open motorway. Once we had arrived we hopped out of the coach and got our bags from a giant cubby hole under the seats. We got into the shining, marble palace of wonder, dropped our bags off and did our first activity Scavenger Hunt. In the Scavenger Hunt we were learning how to survive in the wilderness. I found it really fun. After another activity (mini beast hunt) we had some lunch. Then we saw our rooms. The girls had three bunk beds (one for each girl) and the boys had a separate room. But then after 3 nights sadly we had to go home. Our last activity was fun games. Then we said our goodbyes and so we went. - Amelie Jordan, Year 3

On Monday 5th June year 4 went to Woodrow High House for a residential trip. We jumped on the coach and sat next to our friends and thought what it would be like but we were mostly thinking about our previous school trip. Finally we arrived at Woodrow High House! First we got showed around the magnificent building after that we ate our lunch. Then we did our first activity which was team building after that we got shown to our rooms. Then we did another activity which was very fun! In the evening we did a fun murder mystery and the murder was our poor teacher! The girls didn’t have a great sleep because they were attacked by moths (not necessary). The next day we woke up nice and early to have a full English breakfast. Then we had another activity which was 'Drop it Pop it' it was a balloon game which you couldn’t pop the water balloon so you had to protect it with materials that you had to pay for with money (artificial money). The next activity was low ropes it was so challenging. In the afternoon we did a camp fire and we sang songs. On the third day we had cereal and then we went on to our next activity which was the scavenger hunt it was when you had to answer questions about Woodrow High House. Then we had a cookie! Then we did pioneering which was pretty cool. After that we made catapults which were TRICKY! Our evening activity was a general quiz. On our final day we did the night line which made us very muddy but it was still fun. After that we got changed into our P.E kit and did rocket building. The teams made rockets and decorated them. These were our designs a multi-coloured bird , a shark, an emoji rocket, a cool space rocket and Alvin the chipmunk from the movie. But unfortunately, Alvin had a bad day! Finally we went back on the coach on our way home. We had a great week having a great time! - Jasmine, Daisy, Ayla - Year 4

Danesfield vs Staines Prep Last week Danesfield Manor School played against Staines Prep. We arrived feeling confident and hoping we could go home with a win. It came down to the toss and unfortunately we lost and were going to bat first but that wasn’t a problem for me. The game started and Cameron and me went down to the crease to bat. I was on strike first. The bowler was running in and bowled, I hit straight to cover but didn’t score any runs. The next ball he bowled short, I went on my back foot and cut it, it raced away to the boundary and beat Third-man. That rhythm carried on for the rest of the over and we were on a flying start. Cameron was on for the next over and he luckily got us to a decent score in just 2 overs. We had a run rate of 15 runs an over. The next pair came out to bat and got us around 10-15 runs. This pattern was followed by all the other pairs and to our amazement we got 52 runs in 8 overs with is 6.5 runs and over. It was all down to our bowling as we needed to defend our runs. I was our opening bowler, I didn’t get any wickets but they only got a few runs which was handy for us. Aarun bowled the fowling over and still only let a few runs. As we had a very good start they were not capable to get all the runs which meant we had won the game. We had maintained our streak of winning and which meant we now get to play our rivals Westward this week. Something I am looking forward to!
